Abstract:This paper introduces a Video on Demand system based on both CATV broadcasting channels and IP interactive network. CATV broadcasting channels are used for content transmission and IP network is used for control information transmission between Set Top Box and Headend Server. The control mechanism of whole system is designed and implemented according to DSM-CC protocol stacks. The paper narrates the end-to-end system diagram and VoD application software of Set Top Box. The system can be used in CATV network and provide VoD services for CATV subscribers.

Abstract:It's easy to build a centralized VOD server in a LAN, which is easy to manage but is difficult to extend. But in the WAN, VOD is not yet widely implemented. The biggest obstacle is the lack of server bandwidth that can handle the large amounts of video data. A distributed VOD server is brought forward that is easy to extend so as to serve more concurrent customers and provide more programs, and the expansibility in these aspects is discussed: the architecture, communication based on CORBA, load balance and storage tech- nology. Experiments show that the VOD server is suitable for use both in LAN and WAN.

Abstract:The mesh-based multicast is widely used because of its stability, easy operability and robustness, but the tactic of high fluency and low latency have always been a challenge of VOD technology. Focusing on how to design a VOD system with high fluency and low latency, the three typical BitTorrent-based VOD solutions of Bass, Bitos and Give-to-Get, and common performance evaluation methods of BitTorrent-based VOD system are compared and studied. The problems encountered and possible solutions in the process of BitTorrent-based VOD system optimization are summarized.

Abstract:Based on the most popular and widely acknowledged framework for embedded digital video system-Davinci framework,this paper adopts Davinci technology typical processor-TMS320DM6446 as hardware platform,constructs a streaming media server.The streaming media server system can implement real-time coding,video storage,real-time supervision and remote control,which makes use of H.264,MPEG4 and AVS as video compression standard,the G.711 and G.728 as audio compression standard,the SIP as access control protocol,the RTP/RTCP/RTSP and UDP as multimedia control and transport protocol.The system has high performance and coding efficiency,low cost and delay time and hard real-time advantages,and it can affluently run in wide area network.

Abstract:Recently, video-on-demand (VOD) has attracted a great deal of attention as a very feasible multimedia service. However, in order for VOD to become a wider commercial success, the VOD server must be able to handle large quantities of clients in a cost effective way. Based on our research, this paper proposes a single system control with multiple data pumps (SSCWMDP) architecture for high capacity VOD server to provide VOD service on large scale in Internet environment. Also, a prototype implementation is carried out in order to explore the effectiveness of the architecture. The key techniques that ensure performance of the VOD server are extensively studied. Emulation results show that by adopting the SSCWMDP architecture, the prototype can handle large quantities of clients simultaneously.

Abstract:This article constructs the VOD system from a brand-new angle. By configing the free edition of Helix Server which is provided by Real Networks Corporation on FREEBSD, we can achieve a collection management server, the distributional video frequency server and the client side reliable stable dual user authentication VOD system, and use JSP+MYSQL to achieve it . The operating system (FREEBSD), the stream media server (HELIX) and the database (MYSQL) are all using the edition of which source code is on-limits. It can cross the server platform and the system can do well in transplantation. It also uses the dual user authentication and the function is formidable. In a word, the system which has passed the test can be used feasibly.
