Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of stress changes at different angles with a single screw in internal fixation for femoral neck fracture, and find out the best angle of internal fixation which fits the principle of biomechanics. The study may offer a theoretical foundation for the treatment of femoral neck fracture. Method A solid model is created in Pro/ENGINEER software and exported to ANSYS 5.7 to simulate one leg in a stand position. In this paper, a femoral neck fracture of Pauwel's 50° is used to evaluate different fixation angles (30° to 60°) according to the stress, displacement and fissure distance. Result The stress, displacement and fissure distance fluctuate among a range and have the similar trend when the angle of internal fixation range from 30° to 50°. The minimal value is observed at 50° (fixation angle) and increase noticeably at 60°. Conclusion All the angles of internal fixation (between 30°~55°) can have good effects, and the best results are obtainable at an angle of 50 degree.
