Abstract:This paper describes two encryption designs of Chinese wireless local area network block cipher standard - SMS4 algorithm. Then these two designs are implemented on Xilinx Virtex-4 FPGA devices. The first (pipelined) design is optimized in order to reduce time delay and the encryption core has a throughput of 24Gb/s. The second (folded) design is optimized in order to minimize area coverage and the encryption core only needs 380 CLB slices with throughput of 740Mb/s. There are no known hardware implementations of an encryption SMS4 designs. © 2006 IEEE.

Abstract:SMS4 algorithm is the domestic encryption standard released for WLAN use.An inner-round pipelined,high-speed engine is proposed after analyzing the features of this algorithm.By using pipelined or parallel multi-engines,throughput and hardware cost can be easily adjusted according to different applications.Compared with the 32-stage pipelined structure,hardware cost is much lower under the same throughput.Moreover,the SMS4 encryption/decryption system can easily fit in a low-cost Spartan II XC2S50 FPGA in a single-engine implementation.

Abstract:AES(Advanced encryption standard) is analyzed,and the specific design process and method is given.The AES Algorithm is designed in sequential architecture.As both the encryption module and decryption module use relevant and different initial key and key expansion module,the security of the communication could be strengthened.The 16-bit parallel bus communication interface is used,and the input and 128 output of FIFO data buffer is also employed to cache input data and finish the data encryption.The correctness of algorithm design is verified by ISE 13.1 simulation software.

Abstract:Security issues are playing dominant role in today's high speed communication systems. A fast and compact FPGA based implementation of the Data Encryption Standard (DES) and Triple DES algorithm is presented in this paper that is widely used in cryptography for securing the Internet traffic in modern day communication systems. The design of the digital cryptographic circuit was implemented in a Vertex 5 series (XCVLX5110T) target device with the use of VHDL as the hardware description language. In order to confirm the expected behavior of these algorithms, the proposed design was extensively simulated, synthesized for different FPGA devices both in Spartan and Virtex series from Xilinx viz. Spartan 3, Spartan 3AN, Virtex 5, Virtex E device families. The novelty and contribution of this work is in three folds: (i) Extensive simulation and synthesis of the proposed design targeted for various FPGA devices, (ii) Complete hardware implementation of encryption and decryption algorithms onto Virtex 5 series device (XCVLX5110T) based FPGA boards and, (iii) Generation of ICON and VIO core for the design and on chip verification and analyzing using Chipscope Pro. The experimental as well as implementation results compared to the implementations reported so far are quite encouraging.

Abstract:In view of the problems of large memory footprint and low lookup efficiency existing in the present software implementation of the EPA (Ethernet for plant automation) communication schedule algorithm, the paper proposes a hardware implementation method based on the field programmable gate array (FPGA). This method adopts a strategy of storing messages intensively and constructing communication schedule lists separately, and based on this, devises a parallel processing scheme for lookup of the communication schedule lists. The results of the test on a platform with a Altera Cyclone II FPGA as the main controller show that compared with the software implementation, this implementation method decreases the consumption of memory resources, enhances the message lookup efficiency by 9 times, and doubles the performance of communication.

Abstract:Cryptographic algorithms are usually compute-intensive and more efficiently implemented in hardware than in software. By taking advantage of FPGA technology, some work offers high performance and flexible solutions for cryptographic algorithms. But FPGAs still have some drawbacks. To overcome inherent shortages of FPGA, a novel asynchronous reconfigurable cryptographic engine (ARCEN) is introduced. In this architecture, reconfigurable cryptographic array is the kernel. It routes signals asynchronously between adjacent cells through Neighbor-to-Neighbor wires with 4-phase handshaking protocol. Computation circuit for reconfigurable cell is developed with modified DSDCVS logic. Experiment results show that the architecture has a better performance than FPGA.

Abstract:In recent days, increasing numbers of Internet and wireless network users have helped accelerate the need for encryption mechanisms and devices to protect user data sharing across an unsecured network. Data security, integrity, and verification may be used due to these features. In internet traffic encryption, symmetrical block chips play an essential role. Data Encryption Standard (DES) and Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) ensure privacy encryption underlying data protection standards. The DES and the AES provide information security. DES and AES have the distinction of being introduced in both hardware and applications. DES and AES hardware implementation has many advantages, such as increased performance and improved safety. This paper provides an exhaustive study of the implementation by DES and AES of field programming gate arrays (FPGAs) using both DES and AES. Since FPGAs can be defined as just one mission, computers are superior to them.

Abstract:For the rapid development of Information Technology, data security becomes more and more important. The best way to solve the security problem is to implement ciphers with ASIC. This paper describes an efficient and scalable VLSI implementation of DES algorithm. Various implementing techniques are compared and the most efficient one is chosen. 1.2um CMOS technology is used to implement a testing chip for testing the performance of this design. It can encrypt 40M bits of data per second at 10MHz clock frequency. For some accessorial use, this chip can also be a random number generator (RNG)

Abstract:An implementation of high speed AES algorithm based on FPGA is presented in this paper in order to improve the safety of data in transmission. The mathematic principle, encryption process and logic structure of AES algorithm are introduced. So as to reach the porpose of improving the system computing speed, the pipelining and papallel processing methods were used. The simulation results show that the high-speed AES encryption algorithm implemented correctly. Using the method of AES encryption the data could be protected effectively. © 2012 IEEE.

Abstract:DES has been widely used in current financial security application, but side-channel attacks are considered as serious threats to DES cryptographic algorithm. Asynchronous DES design will be a proper solution because of its natural properties. First, a low power asynchronous DES architecture and sub key generation architecture are proposed. Then, optimized Balsa implementation, GTECH-based implementation and black-box-based implementation are described to reduce area and power. Furthermore, a dual-rail implementation is carried out for future security applications and a Spartan-6 FPGA verification is checked before taping out. ASIC implementation results show that our proposed asynchronous DES architecture and black-box-based scheme can achieve about 20% lower power with 25% area increase of its synchronous equivalent, and its energy is only 8.2% and 27.3% of those reported in other papers, respectively. FPGA experimental results show that our proposed asynchronous DES exhibits an operation frequency of 196.2 MHz and costs only 4% slice LUTs. Moreover, it can be suitably integrated into contactless smart cards.

Abstract:This paper proposes the design and implementation of a System on Programmable Chip(SoPC) interface to solve the problems of timing control and bit stream downloading of embedded Field Programmable Gate Array(FPGA) IP core in the evolvable SoPC.The FPGA interface uses asynchronous FIFO and dual port RAM structure,scalable read/write command transmission to achieve asynchronous communication between FPGA IP core and the system.Embedded CPU achieves the on-chip bit stream configuration of FPGA IP core via FPGA interface.Hardware random number generator in the FPGA interface is used to accelerate the evolutionary algorithm.Automatic verification platform and FPGA prototyping platform are used for the verification of FPGA interface to achieve convergence of verification.Test results show that FPGA interface implements the communication between embedded CPU and FPGA IP core successfully,completes on-chip evolution.

Abstract:FPGA is widely applied in datapath applications, so it's an important design issue to contrive FPGA architecture fit for datapath circuit implementation. In this paper, we describe a new FPGA architecture - FDEGA (Field-programmable Datapath Enhanced Gate Array). The LC of FDEGA is optimized for datapath implementation and can be programmed as either combinational or sequential device. FDEGA has hierarchical interconnection architecture. A chip with 16*16 LC array has been fabricated, and the design of LC and interconnection has been tested, and circuit sample chosen from practical digital system design has been implemented in FDEGA. The result proves that our design of FDEGA is correct.
