Abstract:This paper proposes an urban and regional spatial model based on Self-organization theory and the new production of New Economic Geography. In this model, the agglomeration forces of cities and regions come from the tastes for variety in consumer goods and intermediate-goods besides the local advantages. And the disperse forces come from the competitions of limited land among the agents in the spatial systems. The simulation result indicates that the model can capture the evolution features of monocentric and polycentric cities on different given conditions. And the model can also exhibition the effect of the changing of transport condition on decentralization of population and dispersal of economic activities from the central cities to the suburbs.
