Combining the method of constructing Green functions with operators defined piecewise, the existence result of positive solutions to a singular second order three-point boundary value problem is established. Abstract:Abstract This paper deals with three problems in finding numerical solutions of spatial linkage-loop equations, which have not yet been thoroughly solved. Four means have been adopted in order to solve these problems. An alternative method has been proposed. Compared with present numerical methods, the method suggested by the authors is characterized by a complete theoretical foundation, easy programming, and powerful adaptability. The effectiveness of this method is demonstrated with the kinematic analysis of a general spatial 7H linkage.

Abstract:Firstly ,the new Euler‐Lagrange type cubic functional equation f (x+ y -2z)+f(y+ z -2x)+ f(z+ x -2y)+ 6f (x+ y+ z)= 9[f (x+ y)+ f (y+ z)+ f (z + x)] -18[f(x)+ f(y)+ f(z)] in Banach spaces was investigated .Secondly ,equivalence of six functional equations was discussed . Lastly , by using the fixed pointed alternative , the general solution to the above functional equation was given and the stability of cubic functional equation was proved .

Abstract:We present a complete and practical algorithm which can determine the number of distinct real solutions of a given polynomial system of equations and inequalities with integer coefficients mechanically. Based on this algorithm, a program called nearsolve has been implemented in Maple. The algorithm and program have been successfully applied to many problems with various backgrounds and to automated discovering and proving for inequality-type theorems.

Abstract:Using the result of the error estimate of the simple extended Newton method established in the present paper for solving abstract inequality systems, we study the error bound property of approximate solutions of abstract inequality systems on Banach spaces with the involved function F being Fréchet differentiable and its derivative F^' satisfying the center-Lipschitz condition (not necessarily the Lipschitz condition) around a point x 0 . Under some mild conditions, we establish results on the existence of the solutions, and the error bound properties for approximate solutions of abstract inequality systems. Applications of these results to finite/infinite systems of inequalities/equalities on Banach spaces are presented and the error bound properties of approximate solutions of finite/infinite systems of inequalities/equalities are also established. Our results extend the corresponding results in [ 3 , 18 , 19 ].

Abstract:We present a method for the solution of polynomial equations. We do not intend to present one more method among several others, because today there are many excellent methods. Our main aim is educational. Here we attempt to present a method with elementary tools in order to be understood and useful by students and educators. For this reason, we provide a self contained approach. Our method is a variation of the well known method of resultant, that has its origin back to Euler. Our goal, in the present paper, is in the spirit of calculus and secondary school mathematics. An extensive discussion of the theory of zeros of polynomials and extremal problems for polynomials the reader can find in the books 10 and 13 in our references.

Abstract:This paper aims at developing effective numerical methods for solving mathematical programs with equilibrium constraints. Due to the existence of complementarity constraints, the usual constraint qualifications do not hold at any feasible point, and there are various stationarity concepts such as Clarke, Mordukhovich, and strong stationarities that are specially defined for mathematical programs with equilibrium constraints. However, since these stationarity systems contain some unknown index sets, there has been no numerical method for solving them directly. In this paper, we remove the unknown index sets from these stationarity systems successfully, and reformulate them as smooth equations with box constraints. We further present a modified Levenberg–Marquardt method for solving these constrained equations. We show that, under some weak local error bound conditions, the method is locally and superlinearly convergent. Furthermore, we give some sufficient conditions for local error bounds, and show that these conditions are not very stringent by a number of examples.

Abstract:In this paper, a new strategy is put forward for solving the NP-hard absolute value equation (AVE) Ax—|x|=b which has 2n solutions. Via maths classified discussion, we can translate the AVE into 2n general linear equations, and solve each of these. Numerical results show that the strategy can be easy to get 2n solutions of the absolute value equation.

Abstract:Two kinds of methods are commonly used for solving large size linear algebraic equations which are derived from Saint-Venant equations:one is the elimination method,and another is the double-sweeping method.Two methods,however,have the disadvantage that they would fail when the denominator is zero or machine zero.This paper proposes a method which combines the Gauss main-element elimination method with compress-storage technique to solve the equations more efficiently and accurately.The application of the method to a large network proves that it is an efficient method with less-storage requirement,small rounding off error and high stability.
