Investigation and Analysis of Malocclusion in Early Stage of Permanent Teeth

Abstract:Objective: Malocclusion is one of oral diseases with high morbidity. In order to prevent malocclusion, 4030 students at the age from 13 to 16 years old in middle schools in Changchun were investigated about their malocclusion. Method: The investigation was carried out based on the standard of individual normal occlusion using random sampling. Results: According to the standard of individual normal occlusion, the morbidity rate of malocclusion in middle school students is 80.15% in the early stage of permanent teeth; in Angle's classification of malocclusion, class Ⅰis the most, which accounts for 47.80%; in Mao's classification of malocclusion, class Ⅳ is the most, which accounts for 33.25%. Conclusions: Authors consider that there is necessary to enhance the propaganda and education of the knowledge of dental orthodontics and that oral hygiene is regularly examined and malocclusion is promptly detected and prevented in order to reduce the morbidity rate of malocclusion and to promote oral hygiene.
