Abstract:Based on Game theory,this paper analyzes the equilibrium of information security investment,and provides a new method to solve the investment quantity of information security.It sets up the information security investment game model of the organizations according to the strategy interdependence,and the relation parameter in the model reflects the game relationship of two organizations,so the equilibrium analysis is made based on reaction function method according to the deferent value of relation parameter.In particular,for the attacker-defender game relationship,it brings forward a proposition of information security investment and makes simulation analysis.The research result not only explains the information security investment in the world,but also provides a good direction of the information security investment quantity for organizations.
An Experimental Research on Information Efficiency of Securities Markets

Abstract:Information efficiency of securities markets is always an important coomponent of financial theories.Although a great many propositions have studied on this area,how to test them with field data is still a big problem.Information efficiency requires to be measured by the degree of price derived from the fundamental value which cannot be evaluated accurately in the real world.Experimental methods allow us to investigate into propositions on the information efficiency in a controlled environment and evaluate the fundamental values accurately. With reference to researches of experimental economics in the West,we apply the computer experimental system developed by Zhejiang University and recruit participants to build simulation laboratory securities markets.We set three sessions of experiments with different information environment including information symmetry,pre-trade information asymmetry and post-trade information asymmetry.Each session consists of three trials.According to the experimental data,we find that when the laboratory environments are information symmetrical,traders cannot use the information to form common rational expectations.It implies that symmetrical information is not enough for traders to form common expectations and markets cannot realize equilibrium instantaneously.Compared with information symmetrical environments,pre-trade information asymmetry will induce prices to derive from fundamental values more seriously and produce more bubbles,while prices in post-trade information asymmetry markets are very close to the fundamental values.Those experimental results imply that information efficiency is reduced by post-trade transparency and improved by pre-trade transparency.We use trader behavior patterns to explain those results and propose that transparency of efficient information is important to securities regulation.
Chinese Media, News Characteristics and Information Efficiency of Capital Market

Abstract:Since reform and opening-up, Chinese media industry has undergone profound development. The forms of media have become more diversified. However, the increase in the amount of media is accom-panied with some problems, such as the erosion of independence due to business benefits, and the relatively low quality of employees in media industry. Therefore, readers are often confused about how to select reliable media. To address these issues, we need scientific research to provide us with guidance, and help us under-stand the information characteristics of media.As a combination of policy-oriented media and market-oriented media, Chinese media industry is unique for its dual-track feature. The policy-oriented media is supported by government finance in some way, and mainly focuses on government policy. In contrast, the market-oriented media is self-financing, and pays more attention to the information demands of capital market. Prior literature finds that media coverage can help im-prove the quality of corporate governance, and enlarge the information efficiency of capital market. But for in-vestors, they care more about how to select media or news articles to facilitate their decision making. In other words, they want to identify the very media or news article that has a substantial impact on the information in-tegration of capital market. Therefore, further research should take account of media types and characteristics of news articles, in order to figure out the functional distinction between different types of media.Based on the dual-track feature of Chinese media industry, this paper discusses the differences and reas-ons of performance in facilitating information integration of capital market between policy-oriented media and market-oriented media. By comparing the use of positive and negative words in news articles, we find that positive reports dominate in all media. But the proportion of positive reports is larger for policy-oriented me-dia than for market-oriented media, while the proportion of negative reports goes opposite. We also find that the proportion of positive reports gradually declines from 2000 to 2013, while that of negative reports gradu-ally increases, and the above trends are more significant in the market-oriented media. Given news articles are carriers of information, so the differences of news articles' features between two types of media must lead to different performances in disseminating information.Using Python programming language and Genius Finance News Database, we sort and analyze all the news articles related to the listed firms. Consequently, we construct a database of positive and negative media reports, which covers the period from 2003 to 2013, and consists of 137 unique media. With a sample from China A-share listed non-financial firms from 2003 to 2013, we find that the media coverage can improve the information efficiency of capital market through the channel of negative news rather than that of positive news. Moreover, the above effects are mainly driven by the policy-oriented media, while the market-oriented media barely shows no influence. To explore the mechanism behind those relationships, we quantify the depth of information discovery and the accuracy of information dissemination for each news article, using the meth-od of textual analysis. Further empirical evidences indicate that the policy-oriented media discovers informa-tion deeper and disseminates information more accurate than market-oriented media, and this is the reason why policy-oriented media performs better than market-oriented media in facilitating the information integration of capital market.Our results imply that negative news is more valuable for investors' decision-making. Especially, we find that the impact of media on information efficiency of capital market is mainly driven by the policy-oriented media, which is helpful for investors to narrow their scope of media selection. Meanwhile, our results can help regulatory authorities evaluate and select media platform, and assist them to provide media with guidance in respect of news content.Technically, using the method of textual analysis, we get a database of positive and negative vocabulary which is compatible with Chinese news reports. Based on the vocabulary database, we further analyze the news articles in Genius Finance News Database by Python programming language. Finally, we construct a database of positive and negative news reports, which covers the period from 2000 to 2013. Moreover, we em-ploy the model of Latent Dirichlet Allocation to measure the depth of information discovery and the accuracy of information dissemination, which helps us explore the reason why the policy-oriented media performs bet-ter than the market-oriented media in terms of improving information efficiency of capital market.
On Information Asymmetry Between Institutional Investors and Individual Investors in Chinese Security Market

Abstract:From the perspective of information economics, we analyzed the reason that there is distinct information asymmetry between institutional investors and individual investors. The remarkable difference between their information search and information analysis process leads to their different behaviors when information is incorporated into market. In order to decrease information asymmetry and improve the market efficiency, institutional investors must be developed greatly and individual investors must be protected at the same time.

Abstract:The paper analyzes the theory and application of Markowitz Mean-Variance Model and CAPM model. Firstly, it explains the development process and standpoints of two models and deduces the whole process in detail. Then 30 stocks are choosen from Shangzheng 50 stocks and are testified whether the prices of Shanghai stocks conform to the two models. With the technique of time series and panel data analysis, the research on the stock risk and effective portfolio by ORIGIN and MATLAB software is conducted. The result shows that Shanghai stock market conforms to Markowitz Mean-Variance Model to a certain extent and can give investors reliable suggestion to gain higher return, but there is no positive relation between system risk and profit ratio and CAPM doesn't function well in China's security market.

Abstract:Based on the price adjustment process,this paper presented a theoretic and empirical research on the information reaction pattern in China's security market.It is concluded that Shanghai A security market behaves more efficient than Shenzhen's.As for the B security market,there is no significant difference between them.An asymmetric effect can be tested in China's security market except Shanghai B market.Both Shanghai A and Shenzhen B market are effected by the bad news,while the Shenzhen A market by the good news.And the negative innovations can make a bigger volatility than the positive one can in those three markets.

Abstract:Using a new statistical procedure suitable to test efficient market hypothesis in presence of volatility clustering, we find significant evidence against the weak form of efficient market hypothesis for both Shanghai and Shenzhen stock markets, although they have become more efficient at the later stage. We also find that Share A markets are more efficient than Share B markets, but there is no clear evidence on which stock market, Shanghai or Shenzhen, is more efficient. These findings are robust to volatility clustering, a key feature of high-frequency financial time series. They have important implications on predictability of stock returns and on efficacy of capital asset pricing and allocation in Chinese economy.

Abstract:Applying experimental methods, researchers can investigate theories and find new theories in a controlled environment through observing trade behaviors of real participants. Experimental methods have two significant advantages: Controlling over variables that are difficult or impossible to measure in the field and replicability. In studying institutions of security markets, experimental methods play an effective role in revealing the influence of institutions on security prices. Currently, researchers have tested influences of various institutions on security prices with experimental methods. This paper introduces studies in this field from methods and contents. This paper also argues if experimental methods are used in institutions designing of Chinese security markets, costs of testing institutions can be reduced and trade behavior can be studied more effectively.

Abstract:This paper studies Chinese securities analysts'contributions to the information efficiency of the securities market,using the data of Chinese stock market from 2005 to 201 2.Based on Chan and Hameed's (2006)study,we improve their model,and consider the individual effect of each company,which makes our research more robust and reasonable.We find a completely opposite result:se-curities analysts in China make a positive contribution to the information efficiency of the securities market,and the information they provide is mostly firm -specific level.We further use VAR model as robust check,and results from which also support the former con-clusion.Then,we further extend Chan and Hameed's (2006)study by considering the impact of analysts'experience,analysts'effort, sizes of brokerage houses and market trends.We find that the analysts with more experience,making more effort or working in larger brokerage can produce more firm -specific information,and during the bull phrases,analysts may make a more significant contribution to the information efficiency of the securities market.
Public information content and market information efficiency: A comparison between China and the US

Abstract:Based on the concept that the presence of public information shocks can increase the synchronicity of stock returns, we develop an extended version of the mixture of distribution hypothesis model (MDH) along the lines of Andersen (1996) to measure the public information content embedded in the stock prices. The results show that although we add an additional information structure, the significance of the MDH is still higher than that of Andersen's (1996) model, which indicates that our setting is reasonable. We measure and compare the market effectiveness between China and the United States from 1998 to 2016 by using the public information content calculated by the developed MDH model. The calculation results show that the average public information in the Chinese market is 0.336, which means the market efficiency is slightly lower than 0.317 in the United States.(1) Further analysis shows that market efficiency has increased steadily between 2002 and 2014 and has smaller volatility in the Chinese market. The slow increasing in market efficiency indicate that the securities laws enacted by China in the 1990s and 2000s aimed at promoting the development of the stock market are effective.

Abstract:In this paper we illustrate that there is GARCH phenomenon in shangzheng index and shenzheng index. We establish the IGARCH(1,1) M model and EGARCH(1,1) M model. After compareing the IGARCH(1,1) M with the EGARCH(1,1) M model, we conclude that the IGARCH(1,1) M model have almost the same efficacy with the EGARCH(1,1) M model in Shanghai market and the IGARCH(1,1) M model is a little better than the EGARCH(1,1) M model in Shenzheng market. Then we forecast the volatility of the two index’s returns.

Abstract:This study investigates the pricing efficiency of the Shanghai 50 ETF (SSE 50 ETF), the first exchange-traded fund (ETF) in China. The empirical results demonstrate that ETF market prices and net asset values (NAV) are cointegrated and there is unidirectional causality from price to NAV. The conditional variance dynamics from the augmented Generated AutoRegressive Conditional Heteroskedasticity (GARCH) framework show that ETF market prices influence NAV volatility and therefore can be used as price-discovery vehicles. The study also finds that the fund's prices did not closely follow the NAV during the second half of 2007, when the Chinese stock market experienced substantial volatility, reflecting sudden increased market risks as well as potential arbitrage opportunities during financial turbulences.

Abstract:Based on DEA and Malmquist Productivity Index measured by DEA,using a data set of 32 securities companies,this paper has analyzed and evaluated the technical efficiency of securities industry in China from 2004 to 2006.The findings demonstrate that a rising trend has been found,though efficiency of securites industry is low now.There has been polarization in efficiency of different companies.More and more securities companies have been in stage of decreasing returns to scale.Technical change has bigger effect on productivity change than efficiency change,and has become the main reason of productivity change.

Abstract:In this paper,we use different methodologies to study the listed companies in China security market on the relationships between their ownership structure and performance as well as the firm value from 2000 to 2004.We find that the proportion of shares held by institutional investors has positive correlation with the performance and firm value within the same and following period;besides,in state-owned public holding companies,the entry of institution alinvestors increase the market premium remarkably.This paper provides new idea on decreasing of state-owned shares for institutional investors.

Abstract:This paper examines the practical significance of encouraging institutional investors and strengthening the supervision to institutional investors, using the data of 18 stocks' Large-volume Trade on Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) to signify institutional investors' behavior. In order to reveal the influence of institutional investors' feedback strategies on the efficiency of security market, we contrasted the efficiency of security market in two cases of institutional investors take positive and negative feedback strategies by building panel data model. Our research show that the mean square of price deviation is significantly higher than using negative feedback strategy when institutional investors to take positive feedback strategy, which means that institutional investors to take negative feedback strategies help to improve security market efficiency in China. © 2010 IEEE.

Abstract:Based on the Williams stock evaluation model and from the perspective of market,what resulted from the security markets when they responded to the changes of nominal and actual interest rates are emphatically studied,thus developing a model of response to the change of interest rate in China's security markets.Empirical tests and analyses were done using the related 18-year data from both Shanghai and Shenzhen Stock Exchanges since they were started,with the results theoretically explained.It was revealed that the response of Chinese security markets to the change of interest rate is in an opposite direction,and it is more obvious to the change of long-term interest rates than that of short-term rates.Also it is more obvious to the change of nominal interest rates than to that of actual rates.The response to the change of interest rate relates closely to the fluctuation in its own lagging period.

Abstract:The study on the asset allocation efficiency focus on the contribution degree of asset allocation to securities investment fund performance. On the basis of the development practice of China's securities investment fund, this article empirically studies the asset allocation efficiency of the securities investment funds in China with Panel Data model. The conclusion is that policy asset allocation plays an important role in a fund's returns over time-series, the relationship between active management and policy asset allocation's contribution to the return variation among funds is not evident.

Abstract:The efficient market hypothesis is an important basis of financial economics. The simple statement of the market efficiency hypothesis is that security prices fully reflect all available information. Usually, market efficiency is divided into three categories: (1)weak form tests (How well do past returns predict future returns?); (2)semistrong form tests (How quickly do security prices reflect public information announcements?); (3)strong form tests(Do any investors have private information that is not fully reflceted in market prices?). From 1970s, foreign studies about it not only are intensive and broad, but also have produced abundant results. And research methodologies and models also have made great progress, where event-study methodology is an important method. The general applicability of the event-study methodology has led to its wide use. In the academic accounting and finance field,event-study methodology has been applied to a variety of firm specific and economy-wide events. Some examples include mergers and acquisitions, earnings announcements and issues of new debt or equity. At present, the positive study on China's stock market's efficiency is still in beginning stage, so event-study methodology is adopted in this paper to do the positive research of earning announcement. The empirical result of the research shows that it is an important support to China's stock market's semistrong form efficiency.
