Abstract:We investigate the pricing of systematic tail risk measured by tail beta in the Chinese equity market. Using an array of tests, we examine the performance of more than 3,300 stocks for the years 1999 through 2018. Contrary to evidence from developed markets, we demonstrate a strong negative relationship between the tail beta and future returns. The effect is robust to many considerations and cannot be explained by established pricing factors or alternative risk or illiquidity measures. We link our findings to specific characteristics of the Chinese stock market.

Abstract:The paper adopts chronological season data from 1999 to 2010,and uses Unit Root,Co-integration and Granger Test to operate the empirical analysis on the relativity between China's stock market and its economic growth.The results are as follows: China's stock market and its economic growth remains a long-equilibrium relationship;Granger Causality Test furthermore illustrates that there is no obvious causality relationship among all the development indexes.Therefore,it is suggested that the stock market should be modified by suppressing the speculative behavior and irrational market operation;a virtuous circle between stock market and economic growth can be achieved.

Abstract:This paper is based on the efficient market hypothesis(EMH) developed by Fama.We regard Shanghai stock market as the research object and test the Shanghai Comprehensive Index fluctuations during different periods from 1992 to 2002.The Unit Root Test and Box-Pierce series correlation test are considered to verify whether the index fluctuations obey Random Walk process,furthermore the characteristic of Shanghai stock market is found.The paper makes a conclusion empirically that the Shanghai stock market has been efficient since 1997 with characters of gradually advanced trend from nonefficiency to some.

Abstract:Modern portfolio theory is one of the most classic theories in financial investment theory. It was first released by a famous economist, Markowitz. As the most important critical model in investment science, it provides investors with scientific investment allocation methods, which are favored by many investors. It has been widely used and researched in the world. Modern portfolio theory analyses the historical returns of investment objects and guides future investment behavior. However, it is still controversial whether this theory is reasonable and adequate in Chinas stock market. China's stock market is more susceptible to fluctuations than those in Europe and the US, and many of these factors stem from China's strategic policies in various areas. Since the end of the epidemic, China's economic development has also slowed down. In this context, this paper will construct the maximum Sharpe ratio strategy, market capitalization strategy, and average weight strategy. Through the performance evaluation indexes of these three strategies' performance comparison, this paper will verify whether the portfolio strategy is real and effective in China's stock market and can bring more than significant market returns to investors.
New Test of Asset Pricing Models in China

Abstract:Asset Pricing is a longstanding problem in finance. In this paper, we evaluate both the one factor model and the Fama-French three factor model for the Chinese capital market from 1997-2004. The model specifications include (i) without an intercept, (ii) with an intercept and (iii) with a jump component. A generalized spectral derivative test recently proposed by Hong and Lee (2005a, 2005b) is used for model specification analysis. The empirical results show that the intercept does not help improve the goodness of fit for both one factor and three factor models. Moreover, it cannot reduce the model specification error either. Although jump factors could greatly improve the goodness of fit of asset pricing models, it has little impact on reducing the specification errors. BM and SIZE factors could efficiently improve the goodness of fit of asset pricing models and reduce the specification error, indicating that BM and HML are important for explaining the change of stock returns. However, not all portfolios passed the Hong and Lee (2005a, 2005b) test. There exist some unexplained parts in Chinese stock returns. Other risk factors or nonlinear return relationships should be considered to explain Chinese capital asset returns.

Abstract:The existence of unit root in the volatility process of stock return is regarded as the evidence of persistence of the volatility process,which is essential for people to learn the characteristics of stock return volatility and to price its derivatives,Since the traditional unit root testing procedures have low power and may produce size distortion,the paper adopts the adjusted PP test and KPSS test,and SIMEX test to study the volatility of Shanghai Composite Index(SCI) based on stochastic volatility model.The results of these three tests indicate that the volatility process of SCI after shares separation reform has a unit root and displays strong persistence.

Abstract:This paper analyzed empirically the market liquidity,volatility, and trading characteristics of China's stock market in an order-driven environment. It was found that the market liquidity is a monotonous decreasing function of firm size averagely, and the market liquidity is negative correlated with the volatility and positively correlated with the trading size.

Abstract:This paper makes use of functional coefficient autoregressive model modeling and forecasting daily revenue of stock market in Shanghai.In the foundation of improving existing solving method for model-dependent variable and order determination and bandwidth,we propose a new method.Then we make comparison with the result of autoregression model on daily revenue of stock market in Shanghai.The result shows that the improved functional coefficient autoregressive model has a good capability in forecasting.

Abstract:This paper makes an empirical analysis on investor sentiment volatility regarding the Bull/Bear Index in Stock Market Trend Analysis Weekly as investor sentiment index,and GARCH model is applied to this study for testing investor sentiment volatility and stock market return in China.The result shows that the medium term Bull/Bear index levels has significant ARCH effect.We also find that there are significant spillover effects between investor sentiment volatility and stock market return,and it is appropriate to choose one month as the proper time span of investor sentiment index.

Abstract:The paper uses rolling sample tests to investigate calendar effect in Chinese security market.We utillze GARCH model and identify the time varying nature of weekday effect.There are weekend effect at the early period and it was due to settlement and disclosure mechanism.Since 1997,day-of-the-week effect seems to disappear in Chinese market.

Abstract:This paper examines the pattern of autocorrelation of index stock returns in Shanghai stock market,assuming that some investors follow a positive feedback trading strategy.There is strong evidence that positive feedback trading induces negative autocorrelation in index stock returns,which in absolute terms increases with volatility.Furthermore,the comparison with other developed conutries' stock markets shows that the negative autocorrelation caused by positive feedback traders in Shanghai stock market is much weaker,and the unconditional volatility is much higher,which turns to be some characteristics of emerging financial markets.

Abstract:Taking the unbalanced panel data of Chinese listed companies from 1995 to 2007 as the study sample,the paper adopts and improves Durnev's,(2003)research method to empirically investigate the validity of using stock price non-synchronicity method to measure the stock price informativeness of Chinese listed companies.In the process of panel data model choice,the individual fixed-effects model,random effects model and ordinary OLS regression model are analyzed and chosen accurately.The empirical results indicate:the higher of stock price non-synchronicity,the stronger the ability of current share prices reflecting future accounting earnings;the results are supported by both industry and company level empirical research.So it's the corporate level information playing a decisive role in stock price non-synchronicity and heterogeneous noise only has a small impact.Consequently,stock price non-synchronicity is an effective indicator of measuring the stock price informativeness of Chinese listed companies.

Abstract:This paper establishes a model to evaluate the effect of institutional change of IPO supervision. We analyze all IPO companies between 1994 and 2004,and then compare the differences in their financial results,market performance and informative fraud level before and after the change. We conclude that institutional change of IPO does not improve market performance and reduce informative fraud level. Finally,some policy suggestions are put forward.

Abstract:The paper analyzes the theory and application of Markowitz Mean-Variance Model and CAPM model. Firstly, it explains the development process and standpoints of two models and deduces the whole process in detail. Then 30 stocks are choosen from Shangzheng 50 stocks and are testified whether the prices of Shanghai stocks conform to the two models. With the technique of time series and panel data analysis, the research on the stock risk and effective portfolio by ORIGIN and MATLAB software is conducted. The result shows that Shanghai stock market conforms to Markowitz Mean-Variance Model to a certain extent and can give investors reliable suggestion to gain higher return, but there is no positive relation between system risk and profit ratio and CAPM doesn't function well in China's security market.

Abstract:Correlation analysis of fluidity and return rate is of key importance to the mastery of internal dynamics of stock markets.Based on the reference of relevant literature,the paper firstly establishes a new index to measure fluidity of Chinese stock market,and then conducts an empirical study on correlation of fluidity and return rate of Chinese stock market with Copula-GARCH model following the tests of relevant normal distribution of series involved.It is found that there is not tail symmetry in distribution of the two series,and return rate increases greatly with fluidity enhancing during bull market while return rate decreases drastically with fluidity weakening in bear market;but the concurrency probability of the former is higher than that of the latter,which contradicts to the fluidity premium theory prevailing in mature stock markets.

Abstract:Regarding the risk measure in Shanghai and Shenzhen stock markets as a research object, collecting closing index of each day in S-S market over recent 5 years, and using the common variance-covariance and historical simulation method of calculating VaR (value at risk), the feasibility and maneuverability of using VaR technique for calculating risk of the stock market were demonstrated. Compared with traditional methods, it has distinct merits of simpleness and easiness in quantitating the investment risk. Through adopting EWMA (exponentially weighted moving average) method, the capability of VaR technique in describing variety of stock market's yield was investigated. The result shows that VaR value basically covers most exchange day's loss, reduces the ghosting effect effectively, and catches the fluctuant assemble, and the effectiveness of VaR technique is validated. The results that the VaR value in financial asset portfolio is less than in the individual financial product indicate that the VaR technique in measuring stock market's risk accords with the basic idea of modern portfolio theory.

Abstract:This paper studies the pattern of autocorrelation of stock returns in Shanghai stock market, assuming that some investors follow a positive feedback trading strategy. The sample is the daily returns from September 29 of 1992 to September 30 of 1997. In addition, GARCH(1,1) model is adopted to deal with heteroskedastic property of return volatility, and the maximum likelihood method is used to estimate the model parameters. The positive serial correlation caused by nonsynchronous trading and nonsymmetry of feedback trading are also considered in the model. The empirical results show that in addition to positive serial correlation described in previous literature, there is a strong evidence that positice feedback trading induces negative autocrrelation in index stock returns, which in absolute terms increases with volatility. Thus the autocorrelation of index stock returns and volatility are related.

Abstract:Based on standard classification of industries,growth attribution,and size attribution of stock in china,the stocks in Chinese stock market are divided into 22 industries and 8 attributions.With monthly return data from January 1995 to October 2004,the paper utilizes restricted regression model to make an empirical research on industry and company effects.The results showed that Chinese stock market has obviously distinct industry and company effects,and industry effects are more significant than size effects,and size effects are more significant than growth effects.Hence,`From Top to Bottom' is more reasonable in Chinese stock market.
