Abstract:This paper is concerned with the distribution of zeros of solutions of first-order linear advanced dynamic equations. By introducing a class of sequences involving iterates of the argument, some estimates for the distances between consecutive zeros of solutions are obtained on arbitrary time scales. Our results improve those for differential equations, and provide new results on the distribution of zeros of solutions for arbitrary time scales. Some examples are given to illustrate our results.

Under one global condition on the function, instead of two, the convergence determinations are established by using quadratic and cubical majorizing functions respectively.

Abstract:By improving the bracketing techniques for a functional differential inequality in a previous paper [H.W. Wu, Y.T Xu, The distribution of zeros of solutions of neutral differential equations, Appl. Math. Comput. 156 (3) (2004) 665–677], we are able to derive sharper upper bounds on the distance between zeros of solutions of a class of neutral functional differential equations with delays, and hence improve many known bounds in the literature.

Abstract:The main purpose of this paper is to prove a sharp estimate of the order ρ ( w ) \rho (w) of a transcendental solution w in the complex plane of an n th-order linear differential equation with polynomial coefficients in terms of the distribution of its Stokes rays, under the assumption that zero is not a Nevanlinna deficient value of w. If, in addition, there are only two Stokes rays and if all the solutions of the equation have order at most ρ ( w ) \rho (w) , then we can conclude that the coefficients of the equation are all constants.

Abstract:Assuming that A(z)=B1(z)eP(z)+B2(z)eρp(z)+Q(z) , where B1(z),B2(z),p(z) are nonzero polynomials, ρ∈(0,1) , and Q(z) is an entire function of order less than deg⁡p , we study the oscillation of solutions of the linear differential equation f(k)+A(z)f=0 . Some conditions on A(z) are given to guarantee that any non-trivial solution f satisfies λ(f)=∞ or λ(f)≥σ(A) , where σ(f) and λ(f) denote respectively the order of f and the exponent of convergence of zeros of f . We also find some types of linear differential equations with zero-free solutions.

Abstract:We investigate the distribution of zeros and shared values of the difference operator on meromorphic functions. In particular, we show that if f is a transcendental meromorphic function of finite order with a small number of poles, c is a non-zero complex constant such that Delta(k)(c)f not equal 0 for n >= 2, and a is a small function with respect to f, then f(n)Delta(k)(c)f equals a (not equal 0, infinity) at infinitely many points. Uniqueness of difference polynomials with the same 1-points or fixed points is also proved.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the oscillation and nonoscillation of the neutral difference equation with variable coefficientsDelta (x(n) - c(n)x(n-r)) + p(n)x(n-k) - q(n)x(n-l) = 0where p(n), q(n), c(n) (n = 0, 1, 2,...) are real numbers with p(n) greater than or equal to 0, q(n) greater than or equal to 0, c(n) greater than or equal to 0, k, l, and r are integers with 0 less than or equal to l less than or equal to k - 1, r > 0, p(n) - q(n-k+l) greater than or equal to 0, and not identically sere. Several new sufficient conditions for the oscillation of all solutions of equation (*) are established, some of them are "sharp". Our results do not need the usual hypothesisSigma(n=0)(infinity) (p(n) - q(n-k+l)) = infinityand improve the all known results in the literature.
