Effects of a Rehabilitation Program on the Social Status of Peritoneal Dialysis Patients

Abstract:Objective:To assess the effects of a rehabilitation program dominated by fiveEon social status in peritoneal dialysis patient.Method:The life status of the patients were divided into three grades.All patients underwent rehabilitation program including fluid control,dietary restriction,exercise and psychological counsel for12weeks.Result:Before introducing the rehabilitation program,the numbers of patients in grade1,2,3were50%,40.6%,9.4%,respectively?After12weeks of the rehabilitation program,the number of patients in grade1,2,3were14.1%,28.1%,57.8%,respectively.Patients life status improved significantly,P0.001.After the rehabilitation program,the number of patients in grade3increased from six to thirty-seven,six of whom returned to work again,two patients engaged in volunteer work,and the others lived as healthy people.Conclusion:Rehabilitation program dominated by fiveEcan improve the social status in peritoneal dialysis patients.Author's address Institute of Nephrology,The First Hospital,Peking University,Beijing,100034
