Effect of Xiaotong Tang on Nerve Conductine Velocity and Elctromyography in Type2 DM Patients with Diabetic Neuropathy

Abstract:Objective To observe the effect of Xiaotong Tang on nerve conductive velocity and electromyography in type 2 DM patients with diabetic neuropathy. Methods Fify-seven patients were randomly divided into tow groups. The control group (27 patients) were treated with vitmin B and inositol, and another groups (30 patient) was treated with Xiaotong Tang. The nerve conductive velocity and electromyography were tested both before and after the treatmnt. Results The abnormalities of nerve conductive velocity and electromyography were detected in all the patients before the treatment. In the Xiaotong Tang group, the nerve conductive velocity was increased and the spontaneous electric potential of electromyography was decreased; whereas, no obvious changes were found in the control group, and there was significant difference between the two groups (P0.05) Conclusion Xiaotong Tang can increase the nerve conductive velocity in patients with difortic neuropathy.
