Abstract:Objectives To study the relation of SIRS score to APACHE III score?MODS score and mortality in patients with acute infection and to determine whether the severity of SIRS score is an accurate predictor Methods SIRS score , APACHE III score, MODS score, mortality were calculated at 126 patients with acute infection, and SIRS score was evaluated as a predictor by statistical analysis Results APACHE III score, MODS score were significantly greater in groups of SIRS score ≥2( P 0 05 vs SIRS score=0,1) The SIRS score was significantly higher for nonsurvivors ( P 0 01) On day 1, SIRS score was positively corelated with APACHE III score and MODS score ( P 0 001) All patients in groups of SIRS score =0/1, and mortality increased gradually in groups of SIRS score ≥2, with highest mortality found in SIRS score =4 Conclusions SIRS score is correlate with severity of acute infection at admission, especially when SIRS score ≥2, and it may be a useful, simple predictor of outcome in patients with acute infection
