The correlative analysis for dedicious caries status and the risk factors of preschool children in rural area

Abstract:Objective As the baseline data analys is of the oral health project,to study the primary caries status of 1～6 year-old children in the rural area of Anhui and Shannxi provinces,and to analysis the co rrelation among caries,age,family economical situation and oral health behaviors et al.Methods One thousand one hudred and twenty nine children at ages 1～6 were examined randomly for caries exam.The questionnaires were fini shed by 399 parents of the children.The variances of caries risk factors between 110 children in caries group (dmft≥3) and 238 children in caries free group we re analyzed.Results The primary caries prevalence was 45.4% and d mft was 3.28 in 1～6 age group.Apart from age factor, the main risk factors of primary caries were the parents' educational level, whether or not to hav e hospitalized in the last year,and whether or not to buy toothpaste and toothbr ush conveniently in the local shops. Conclusion Primary caries prevalence in preschool childre n is lower in the rural area of the provinces than at national level.
