Study on the Coastal Harbor Industry, Marine Logistics and Globe-Scale Production

Abstract:With denser population and developed economy in the world, coastal zone plays an important role in the economic globalization and global production. During the past half century, the coastal harbor industry has developed rapidly and experienced high development rate. Based on the construction of coastal harbor and huge shipping transportation, the combination of harbor industry and marine logistics put globe-scale production into effect. The globe-scale production used the resources and market all over the world for the best profits. The practice of globe-scale production created many wonderful economic successes. For example, with the shortage of natural resources, the continuous construction and development with much beneficial governmental policies in coastal harbor industry during the past half century has caused Japan become the richest nation and pass over the developed countries in the world. With the development of Economy Open Policy, 14 coastal cities became the littoral open areas in China in mid-1980′s, and some high-tech industry zones were established in the coastal region during 1990′s. The Chiwan Bay in Shenzhen City, Southern China, has been a successful example of harbor industry area with the best profit since the early time of 1990′s. The first author has experienced the whole process of the development harbor industry at Shenzhen, and has deeply realized the importance of harbor industry. The globe-scale production using the global resources and domestic-abroad markets is the result of the change of production style. The globe-scale production which accelerates the process of trade globalization and financial globalization is the key point of the economic globalization. The globe-scale production established the new milestone of the process of world economic development. In China, an economic success way in 21th century for the improvement of national power is to establish some manufacture centers with international competition power based on the better littoral harbor. The key point is to establish the bases or coastal region with globe-scale production, corresponding with the huge exporting and importing mass flows.
