Abstract:Based on the inverse LQ approach, this paper addresses the simultaneous stability for r MIMO strictly proper plants. Some necessary and sufficient conditions for the static output feedback simultaneous stabilization are derived by using the matrix inequality method. It is proved that this problem is equivalent to the existence of the solution of r coupled LQ control problem. Then an iterative algorithm based on the LMI technique is presented to obtain the feedback gain. The illustrated examples show that it is very efficient.

Abstract:In this paper, the simultaneous stabilization problem for a set of MIMO plants is discussed and the necessary and sufficient condition for this problem is derived. Abstract:In this paper, the simultaneous stabilization problem is considered using the matrix inequality approach. Some necessary and sufficient conditions for simultaneous stabilizability of strictly proper multi-input/multi-output (MIMO) plants via static output feedback and state feedback are obtained in the form of coupled algebraic Riccati inequalities. It is shown that any such stabilizing feedback gain is the solution of some coupled linear quadratic control problems where every cost functional has a suitable cross term. A heuristic iterative algorithm based on the linear matrix inequality technique is presented to solve the coupled matrix inequalities. The effectiveness of the approach is illustrated by numerical examples

Abstract:An analytical decoupling control method is proposed for multiple-input–multiple-output (MIMO) processes with multiple time delays. The desired diagonal system transfer matrix is proposed first in terms of the H2 optimal performance specification, resulting in the ideal desired decoupling controller matrix derived within the framework of a unity feedback control structure. It is demonstrated that dead-time compensators must be enclosed in the decoupling controller matrix to realize absolute decoupling for MIMO processes with multiple time delays. To alleviate the difficulties associated with the implementation, the ideal desired decoupling controller matrix is transformed into a practical form using an analytical approximation approach. Correspondingly, the stability of the resultant control system is assessed, together with its robust stability in the presence of process uncertainties. An on-line tuning rule for the single adjustable parameter of each column controllers in the decoupling controller matrix is given to cope with the process unmodeled dynamics. Finally, illustrative examples are given to show the superiority of the proposed method over the recently improved decoupling control methods.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the problem of adaptive finite-time tracking control for a class of nonlinear multi-input and multi-output (MIMO) systems with a state coupling relationship between subsystems, which is called the structure of nonstrict-feedback. Based on the quasi-fast finite-time design technique, an adaptive controller is obtained for the considered MIMO systems. The advantages of the presented control scheme lie in that the "explosion of complexity" problem in the backstepping process is solved by utilizing the command filter technique, and the design difficulties caused by nonstrict-feedback structure are also overcome. It is shown that all the signals in the closed-loop system are bounded and the convergence performance with the bounded tracking errors is guaranteed in a finite time. Finally, a practical example is given to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Abstract:In this paper, a two-degree-of-freedom (TDOF) controller design method for multi-inputs multi-outputs (MIMO) system with multiple time delays based on inversing decoupling is proposed. Firstly, an inversing decoupling method based on the factorization of the plant is developed. Secondly, the H2 optimal controller design method is applied to the decoupled single-input/single-output (SISO) system after the system has been decoupled. Finally, a TDOF controller is designed for the decoupled closed-loop system. Compared with other developed methods, the proposed design method has two main advantages. One is that the design procedure is simple and the obtained controllers are given in analytical form. The other is that better performance can be achieved since the TDOF control structure can isolate the disturbance from the reference. Simulations are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed design approach.

Abstract:An inversion-based two-degree-freedom（2DOF） control based on robust open decoupling is proposed for MIMO tracking system. This control method accounts for coupling problem of MIMO system by robust open decoupling, and improves tracking performance by inversion-based 2DOF controller. Firstly, a robust open decoupling method is proposed. Then the design method of inversion based feedforward controller and robust controller based on H∞ mixed sensitivity is proposed in 2DOF control. Finally, a design example and its simulation result show the effectiveness of the proposed control method.

Abstract:This paper proposes a new analytical method for multivariable control design for a class of stable linear multi-input-multi-output (MIMO) processes. By using the unity feedback structure, a multivariable controller with full matrix form is derived based on Internal Model Control (IMC) theory. The proposed design approach provides a single adjustable parameter for each control loop. Two analytical computation methods are developed to obtain the control parameters according to the robust stability condition and nominal performance. Simulation results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control and tuning scheme.

Abstract:The purpose of this paper is to provide a method for (semi-global) asymptotic stabilization of a nonlinear minimum-phase MIMO system, under a mild hypothesis of the so-called “high-frequency gain” matrix. This result is based on a non-trivial extension, to the MIMO setting, of the approach based on the use of extended observers. As a byproduct, a dynamic output feedback control is obtained, that asymptotically stabilizes the equilibrium of the closed-loop system, in spite of uncertainties in the high-frequency gain matrix.

Abstract:A two-degrees-of-freedom (2-DOF) decoupling control scheme is proposed for multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) processes with time delays. The set-point response and load-disturbance response of each process output can be separately regulated and optimized online. The two respective controller matrices for set-point tracking and load-disturbance rejection are analytically derived based on the H-2 optimal performance specification and rational transfer function approximation. A simplified stability condition is given to check the resulting control system stability, together with a graphical approach, in terms of the multivariable spectral radius stability criterion, to evaluate the robust stability of the control system in the presence of the process additive and multiplicative uncertainties. Correspondingly, an on-line tuning rule for the adjustable parameters of the two controller matrices is given to accommodate the unmodeled process dynamics. Finally, illustrative examples are given to demonstrate the merits of the proposed 2-DOF decoupling control scheme.

Abstract:The stabilization of the system with multiple time delays is much more difficult than that of the rational system since the delay multiplicity complicates the system analysis. For an arbitrarily-given linear time-invariant (LTI) multiple time-delay plant, the stabilization problems of the PID controllers are solved in this paper. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the stability of general single-input and single-output (SISO) systems and multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) systems with multiple time delays are presented by considering the argument transformation of closed-loop characteristic function and real and imaginary roots of related quasipolynomial in a sufficiently large frequency range. Based on such the conditions, analytical algorithms are then proposed to compute the complete stabilizing sets of low-order controllers. For the MIMO system with multiple time delays, firstly, MIMO systems are decomposed into several independent single loop subsystems with multiple time delays by the method of equivalent transfer function (ETF). Then, the stabilizing PID controllers for all independent single-loop subsystems are presented on the basic of the stabilizing result of the PID controller for SISO systems with multiple time delays, from which the stabilizing regions of the PID controllers for MIMO system with multiple time delays can be derived. More importantly, the results accomplished here provide a strong theoretical basic and technical guidance for the low-order controller design and tuning of the system with multiple time delays. Numerical examples are provided to illustrate the validity of the proposed algorithms.

Abstract:In this paper, we study networked stabilization of a multi-input linear time-invariant (LTI) system closed over a multi-input multi-output (MIMO) communication system modeled as a MIMO transceiver. The controller and encoder/decoder pair are jointly designed subject to a total power constraint. We obtain an analytic solution to the minimum transmission power required for networked stabilization under coding/control co-design given in terms of the topological entropies of cyclic subsystems of the open-loop plant and the quality of service (QoS) of channel eigenmodes of the MIMO channel. Also, an optimal coding/control co-design procedure is proposed. The results generalize the understandings in the literature concerning parallel additive white noise (AWN) channels. A numerical example is provided to verify the results.

Abstract:This paper presents a new control, namely additive-state-decomposition dynamic inversion stabilized control, that is used to stabilize a class of multi-input multi-output (MIMO) systems subject to nonparametric time-varying uncertainties with respect to both state and input. By additive state decomposition and a new definition of output, the considered uncertain system is transformed into a minimum-phase uncertainty-free system with relative degree one, in which all uncertainties are lumped into a new disturbance at the output. Subsequently, dynamic inversion control is applied to reject the lumped disturbance. Performance analysis of the resulting closed-loop dynamics shows that the stability can be ensured. Finally, to demonstrate its effectiveness, the proposed control is applied to two existing problems by numerical simulation. Furthermore, in order to show its practicability, the proposed control is also performed on a real quadrotor to stabilize its attitude when its inertia moment matrix is subject to a large uncertainty.

Abstract:In this paper, a decoupling multivariable control strategy for linear time‐invariant (LTI) multi‐input/multi‐output (MIMO) systems is proposed. The strategy includes a multivariable disturbance observer (MDOB) and a decoupling controller. This MDOB is introduced to improve the system performances when the system encounters severe external disturbances. H2 optimal scheme is utilized to design the MDOB filter. The controller is developed based on an inverse control method, through which the design process can be simplified. Simulation results certify the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy.

Abstract:The neural-networks-based adaptive asymptotic tracking control problem is considered for a class of multiple input multiple output (MIMO) stochastic non-strict-feedback nonlinear systems with unknown control gains and full state constraints. Firstly, barrier Lyapunov functions (BLFs) are designed to avoid the violation of the state constraints, the dynamic surface control (DSC) method is adopted to ensure the computation burden is greatly reduced, and the introduced auxiliary virtual controllers solve the design obstacle arised from unknown control gains. Then, by introducing a specific gain suppression inequality, a new adaptive asymptotic tracking control scheme is proposed and its correctness and validity are rigorously proved, which can not only effectively guarantee that all the signals of the closed-loop system are bounded in probability, but also makes the tracking error converge to zero in the fourth moment. At the same time, the impact of the full state constraints on the system performance is also tackled. Finally, the feasibility and practicability of the proposed control scheme are verified by the simulation results.

Abstract:In this paper, an H-2 analytical decoupling control scheme with multivariable disturbance observer for both stable and unstable multi-input/multi-output (MIMO) systems with multiple time delays is proposed. Compared with conventional control strategies, the main merit is that the proposed control scheme can improve the system performances effectively when the MIMO processes with severe model mismatches and strong external disturbances. Besides, the design method has three additional advantages. First, the derived controller and observer are given in analytical forms, the design procedure is simple. Second, the orders of the designed controller and observer are low, they can be implemented easily in practice. Finally, the performance and robustness can be adjusted easily by tuning the parameters in the designed controller and observer. It is useful for practical application. Simulations are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.

Abstract:A novel tracking and almost disturbance decoupling problem of multi-input, multi-output (MIMO) nonlinear systems based on feedback linearization and a multi-layered feedforward neural network approach has been proposed. The feedback linearization and neural network controller guarantees exponentially global uniform ultimate bounded stability and almost disturbance decoupling performance without using any learning or adaptive algorithms. The new approach renders the system to be stable with the almost disturbance decoupling property at each step when selecting weights to enhance the performance if the proposed sufficient conditions are maintained. One example, which cannot be solved by the existing approach of the almost disturbance decoupling problem because it requires the sufficient conditions that the nonlinearities that multiply the disturbances satisfy structural triangular conditions, is proposed to exploit the fact that the tracking and the almost disturbance decoupling performances are easily achieved by the proposed approach. In order to demonstrate the practical applicability, a famous half-car active suspension system is investigated.
