Abstract:"Shenzhi" was used as an adverb and a conjunction in ancient times.The adverb "Shenzhi" and the conjunction "Shenzhi" are not shaped in the same process.The former is formed by solidifying the synonymous and coordinate phrase,the latter is shaped by re-analyzing the multi-layers structure.It is the same to "Shenqie","Shen'er".

Abstract:Chinese language is both a monosyllable one and a diphone-rhythm one. It defines that there are two essential units in Chinese grammar: one is Zi (Chinese characters), and the other is word. The definition of Zi is clear, while the definition of word is a little fuzzy, as most of the words are essentially a kind of combination of Zi which is the starting point of Chinese language organization and is analytic in nature. Every combination of Zi has a weak basis in coagulability. This paper discusses the cultural characteristics of the essential units of Chinese Grammar.

Abstract:The biggest difference between Chinese Language and Western Language lies on the difference of their signifier.Chinese Language mainly characterizes its numerous homonyms(same phoneme and different character) and sound-character mixed signifier,which led to its developed written language.Wenyan(classical Chinese language) becomes a symbol of high culture.Calligraphy,then,became a form of art.Recognition of written Chinese delays the progress of immediate perception of words,and it leads to a thinking way which is full of tasteful apprehension.Homonymy produces metaphor.This is why China has been called a poetic nation and Chinese a poetic language.Such culture as well as literature can avoid drawbacks of metaphysics,being-to-beings change,the popularity of scientism for instance.However,People who speak Chinese holds the idea that the nature of language is for use,which enables Chinese culture to safeguard and contain some final values,Tao,for example,instead of the nihilism.What role Chinese culture will play in the era of globalization depends on whether it can create a new ethic value.The ambiguity of Chinese word based on its special signifier causes pluralism and protects final values,and it should bring out an active answer to what is goodness in human life.Chinese culture as well as its logic working will make special contribution to the modern world.

Abstract:The conception of language as a multi-level system is widely accepted in modern linguistics. However, due to the absence of operational methodology, there has been no empirical characterization of any language as a multi-level system in the current body of linguistic research. The present study attempts to fill this gap by examining modern Chinese as a multi-level system from the complex network approach. Based on the same body of corpus data, four levels as language sub-systems along the meaning-form dimension of the language are modeled as linguistic networks. On the basis of topological analysis of the four linguistic networks, the organizational patterns of the four language sub-systems are described and compared quantitatively and the results are interpreted from an interdisciplinary perspective. To varying degrees, the four network models exhibit a series of non-trivial statistical patterns, which shed light on different aspects of the organization of the four sub-systems. The similarities and differences of the four sub-systems in organizational patterns reflect the relationships between them. In more than one way, the results of this study point to the close connection between relevant properties of the language and human cognition, which facilitates linguistic performance of different types.

Abstract:The article is devoted to analysis of Chinese phraseological units as carriers of the embodiment of universal and unique cultural information. The author explores the national and cultural content of a number of Chinese phraseological units, which are based on the symbolic meaning of plants (meihua, orchid, bamboo, chrysanthemum, pinetree), real and mythical animals (dragon, phoenix, tortoise, qilin, tiger).The relevance of the work is due to the necessity of study Chinese idioms from the point of linguoculturological approach, to define the cultural connotation contained in these phraseological units. Chinese phraseological units containing Chinese characters representing plants and animals are being studied in the aspect of their representation of national and cultural content. Revealing the national and cultural connotations reflected in Chinese idioms, the author actualizes the content of nationally specific concepts that are important in the traditional culture of the Chinese people. The conducted research pragmatically contributes to the effectiveness of intercultural communication, especially in the context of modern global sociocultural transformations. The study of the semantics of phraseological units is illustrated by examples from literary works in ancient Chinese and modern Chinese and examples from Chinese sentence writing sites. Abstract:The authors of the article consider the conceptual dyad “Life-Death” from the position of a representative of the Chinese linguistic culture, seeking to enter a new cultural space for themselves - the so-called “Russian world”. The hypothesis of the study is that the carrier of a foreign cultural linguistic consciousness has an already formed cognitive base, which becomes a contrasting background for the perception of a new linguistic reality. Within the framework of the article, the authors analyzed the cultural context, which makes it possible to explicate the semantics of these concepts in the Chinese language picture of the world, and also conducted an experiment with a reference group, which made it possible to objectify their actual meanings. The essence of the experiment was the work of a receptive group with precedent texts that contain in their semantic field the conceptual core “Life” / “Death” or “Life-Death”. Precedent texts are obligatory formants of the cognitive base of an ethnos. We sought to obtain the most recurrent responses to these stimuli in order to differentiate the conceptual features of the dyad. The result of the experiment was a selection of precedent texts, commented on by the receptive group. Summarizing the empirical data, we came to the conclusion that for the bearer of the Chinese linguistic consciousness, the concepts “Life” and “Death” represent an ontological unity with the corresponding set of characteristics: Tao, the great middle path, destiny, happiness. In addition, linguo-ethnic standards were identified: “noble husband” and “perfect sage”.

Abstract:The Chinese verb CHI (SIC) can be virtually used with any NP in the language and the numerous papers published on this issue up to now basically focus on metonymy or metaphor interpretations for this phenomenon. In this paper, however, the author first categorizes the CHI + NP construction into ET (extended) and CT (contextualized) types, and then discusses the location dilemma (i.e. ET1 sub-type) and the semantic ubiquity (i.e. CT sub-type) typical of Chinese in order to show that the location dilemma (e.g. CHI immediately followed by a location NP) is neither the consequence of some vacuous syntactic raising nor an economy-driven equivalent of its counterpart longer expression. The ET1 use of CHI connotes an abstract sense of direction. Likewise, the semantic ubiquity (i.e. novel uses of CHI) of the CT category is not blindly metaphorical either but is better understood as the Chinese proclivity for eating and culinary arts projecting onto some pertinent cultural-linguistic fossilization and pragmatic entrenchment. The author believes that the idiosyncratic behavior and the rambunctiousness of the "CHI + NP" construction in terms of its consequent semantic omnipotence of the CT category is a further cognitive extension from the ET2 sense of DEPEND-UPON. Such flexible sense extensions are sanctioned further by the comparatively loose Chinese V + NP combination in general.

Abstract:The character is far more than a visual means for recording spoken languages.It has its own value.Different script systems and ways of writing manifest different national psyches and cultures.In comparison with alphabetic scripts,the Chinese characters,as the most widely used writing system based on ideography that survives history,is especially unique and significant in standing for its own value and meaning.According to the latest research,when reading the Chinese characters,the natives would produce a unique effect in electroencephalogram called the centro-parietal N200,which shows a possibility that the ideography-based script and the phonemic script are based on the different sensory mechanisms,and the former in nature is closer to the "scheme" proposed by Kant.This can be considered as a merit of the Chinese character users.In this study,I argue that the Chinese characters should be seen as "the living schema",and as the result,the Chinese way of perceiving reality is associated with imagery and concrete visual thinking,but this should not be considered as the primitive cognition pointed by Lucien LevyBruhl.On the contrary,this type of cognitive process can be metaphorically called "the mental dictionary" of Chinese people,which manifests itself in Chinese culture,art,philosophy,religion even science,and permeates every faculty of Chinese society,forming unique ways of perceiving the world.

Abstract:Because of the grand cultural differences and diverse spiritual outlook between Chinese language and European languages,the constant requests from famous scholars were made in the first half of 20 century that the research of Chinese grammar should be independent of that of English grammar,and the real Chinese grammar should be Chinese special rules oriented with some common rules shared by human languages.From the comparison of different cultural perspectives,the essential opposites in thinking,expression and grammar between Chinese language and European languages are as follows: 1)flexibility vs.accuracy;2)synthesis vs.analyticity;3)figural vs.Abstract;4)flowing vs.static.Chinese grammar structure features flexible and ploysemy understanding,axiomatic expression and statement to let things take their course.Chinese sentences have continuation construction and subjectivity pause,while European languages sentences have to the contrary extensity construction and objectivity pause.

Abstract:The study of Chinese language intersects with the study of Chinese philosophy in several fields. This chapter will provide an overview of three major fields of research, discussing three different questions: How did Chinese philosophers interpret and discuss language? How can linguistic analysis help us to understand and interpret philosophy? Did the characteristics of the Chinese language influence particular characteristics of Chinese philosophy? The Warring States period saw a flourishing of different philosophies and intellectual debates. Philosophers oftentimes were itinerant, offering their advice and teachings to various rulers. Chinese is one of the few languages in which an early philosophical and logical system developed independently of an influence from any systems in Indo-European languages. The focus of philosophizing was on how to establish acceptable relations between names and actualities, with a view to the normative functions and the pedagogical and epistemological effectiveness of language. Typologically, Chinese has been identified as monosyllabic and isolating. Language fixed in writing can become a “written object” – blurring the borders between language and art, for example; the high value still attached to Chinese calligraphy today comes to mind as an obvious example. The systematic analysis of the constraints of the Chinese language has been neglected in discussions on Chinese philosophy and its relation to Chinese language.

Abstract:It is a commonplace hope of much modern philosophy that philosophy be understood as intimately related to language. The bridge between philosophical doctrines and language is typically erected by explaining various substantive views in e.g. ontology, logic, epistemology, ethics, etc., as presupposing a certain view of language, its function, its significance, etc. Insofar as this view is helpful, understanding Chinese philosophy should be no exception. Behind some of the ethical, metaphysical or epistemo‐logical doctrines, we should be able to find views about language which themselves can be explained by certain general features of Chinese language and accepted philosophical practice. These, naturally, would be most interesting and informative where they provide a contrast with the views which historically were dominant in Western philosophy.

Abstract:The object of this research is the phraseological field with the semantics of "human character" as a fragment of the linguistic picture reflecting the peculiarities of perception of the world by native speakers of Russian and Chinese languages. The subject of the study is national peculiarities and common features of cultural components of the meaning of phraseological units about human character in the Russian and Chinese languages. In the first part of the article, the author gives a brief description of the theoretical understanding of phraseology as a phenomenon of Russian and Chinese linguistics, draws parallels between the concepts of phraseological unit and chengyu, comparing the key characteristics of the two terms and specifying the subject of research. Having defined the theoretical boundaries of the concept of phraseology, the author of the article systematizes the research material in accordance with the semantic features. The second part of the study is devoted to the comparative linguistic, cultural and semantic analysis of phraseological units expressing the "character of a person" in Russian and Chinese. Methods of classification, lexico-semantic analysis, linguistic and cultural analysis, comparison, generalization are used. The sample of the study includes 400 phraseological units about the character of a person (200 Russian and 200 Chinese), which were studied using quantitative and qualitative methods of analysis. The research contributes to the study of linguistic and cultural peculiarities of the perception of human character by representatives of Russian and Chinese cultures. The scientific novelty of the article lies in the application of comparative lexico-semantic and linguistic-cultural analysis to phraseological units with the meaning of "human character". Russian and Chinese studies of the quantitative correlation of phraseological and semantic groups in the phraseological field with the semantics of "human character" in Russian and Chinese, as well as the identification of cultural and historical features and patterns in the perception of human character traits in the Russian and Chinese language worldviews, revealed the presence of a universal and specific perception of human character. All this made it possible to establish a connection between different historical and social development, the influence of different religious and philosophical teachings in Russia and China, and the perception of human character reflected in the corresponding fragment of the phraseological field.
