Abstract:We show that large electroweak penguin effects invalidate previously suggested methods to constraint and to determine the CP violating phase γ of the KM matrix using B̄0 → K−π+, π−π+ and B → K̄0π− decays. We obtain new results on the constraint and the determination of γ. It is found that present central values of experimental data on these decays exclude the range between 0.57 and 0.87 for γ which is considerably different from previous constraint using the same modes. Even with large electroweak penguin effects the phase γ can still be determined up to discrete values when CP asymmetry of B̄0 → K−π+ is measured. PACS numbers:11.30. Er, 12.60. Cn, 13.20. He, 13.25. Abstract:We discuss the rescattering effects in decays B→π+K. The picture wetake is very simple: first, B decay into K*ρ, then K* and ρ go tokaon and pion by exchanging a pion. Abstract:We study the resonant contributions in the process of ${\overline{B}}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\mu}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\mu}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ with the ${K}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}$ invariant mass square ${m}_{K\ensuremath{\pi}}^{2}\ensuremath{\in}[1,5]\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{GeV}}^{2}$. Width effects of the involved strange mesons, ${K}^{*}(1410)$, ${K}_{0}^{*}(1430)$, ${K}_{2}^{*}(1430)$, ${K}^{*}(1680)$, ${K}_{3}^{*}(1780)$ and ${K}_{4}^{*}(2045)$, are incorporated. In terms of helicity amplitudes, we derive a compact form for the full angular distributions, through which the branching ratios, forward-backward asymmetries and polarizations are attained. We propose that the uncertainties in the $B\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}_{J}^{*}$ form factors can be pinned down by the measurements of a set of SU(3)-related processes. Using results from the large energy limit, we derive the dependence of branching fractions on the ${m}_{K\ensuremath{\pi}}$, and find that the ${K}_{2}^{*}$ resonance has a clear signature, in particular, in the transverse polarizations.

Abstract:In the framework of QCD factorization, we study $B^{ + (0)} \to \eta' K^{ + (0)}$ decays. In order to more reliably determine the phenomenological parameters X H and X A arising from end-point divergences in the hard spectator scattering and weak annihilation contributions, we use the global analysis for twelve $B \to PP$ and VP decay modes, such as $B \to \pi \pi$, $\pi K$, $\rho \pi$, $\rho K$, et cetera, but excluding the modes whose (dominant) internal quark-level process is $b \to s \bar s s$. Based on the global analysis, we critically investigate possible magnitudes of X H,A and find that both large and small X H,A terms are allowed by the global fit. In the case of the large X H,A effects, the standard model (SM) prediction of the branching ratios (BRs) for $B^{ + (0)} \to \eta' K^{ + (0)}$ is large and well consistent with the experimental results. In contrast, in the case of the small X H,A effects, the SM prediction for these BRs is smaller than the experimental data. Motivated by the recent Belle measurement of $\sin (2\phi_1)$ through $B^0 \to \phi K_s$, if we take into account possible new physics effects on the quark-level process $b \to s \bar s s$, we can explicitly show that these large BRs can be understood even in the small X H,A case. Specifically, we present two new physics scenarios: R-parity violating SUSY and R-parity conserving SUSY.

Abstract:We investigate the B -> a(1)(1260)(b(1)(1235))pi(K) decays under the factorization scheme and find many discrepancies between theoretical predictions and the experimental data. In the tree-dominated processes, large contributions from color-suppressed tree diagrams are required in order to accommodate the large decay rates of B--> a(1)(0)pi(-) and B--> a(1)(-)pi(0). For (B)overbar(0)->(a(1)(+),b(1)(+))K- decays which are induced by b -> s transition, theoretical predictions on their decay rates are larger than the data by a factor of 2.8 and 5.5, respectively. Large electroweak penguins or some new mechanism are expected to explain the branching ratios of B--> b(1)(0)K(-) and B--> a(1)(-)(K)overbar(0). The soft-collinear effective theory has the potential to explain large decay rates of B--> a(1)(0)pi(-) and B--> a(1)(-)pi(0) via a large hard-scattering form factor zeta(B -> a)(J)(1). We will also show that, with proper charming penguins, predictions on the branching ratios of (B)overbar(0)->(a(1)(+),b(1)(+))K- can also be consistent with the data.

Abstract:Di-gluon fusion mechanism might account for the large branching ratios of B-->Keta'. But because we know little about the effective eta'gg vertex, there are large uncertainties in perturbative QCD estimations. In this paper, we try several kinds of eta'gg form factors and compare the numerical results with the experiment. We find that, though we know little about eta'gg form factor, if di-gluon fusion mechanism is important in B-->Keta', die branching ratios of die decays B-->K*eta' would be around 10(-5) which can be tested by future experiments.

Abstract:In the framework of R-parity violating (RPV) supersymmetry (SUSY), we show that the large negative sin(2phi(1))phiK(s) and the large branching ratio for B+/- --> eta(1)K(+/-) can be simultaneously explained. In order to calculate the relevant hadronic matrix elements, we adopt the QCD factorization approach and use the global fit for the available B --> PP and VP modes (without the quark-level subprocess b --> sss) to determine the phenomenological parameters for the calculation. We find that all the observed data can be accommodated for certain values of the RPV SUSY couplings.

Abstract:We analyze the CP asymmetries of B --> phiK and B-->eta((1)) K modes in the QCD improved factorization framework. The phenomenological parameters are determined from the global fit for the available B --> P P and V P modes (without the subprocess b --> s (s) over bars). B Decays into a Scalar/tensor Meson in Pursuit of Determining the CKM Angle Γ

Abstract:In this work, I suggest a new way for determining the CKM angle gamma via B decays into a scalar/tensor meson without any hadronic uncertainty. The proposed idea makes profits of the two triangles formed by the B+ -> (D-0, (D) over bar (0), D-CP(0))K-0(2)(*+/-) (1430) decay amplitudes. The advantages in it are large CP asymmetries and the avoidance of the use of doubly Cabibbo-suppressed D decays. Branching ratios of B-+/- -> (D-0, (D) over bar (0), D-CP(0))K-0(2)(*+/-) (1430) are estimated to have the order 10(-6) - 10(-5) and therefore measurable on the ongoing LHCb experiment and future experimental facilities. The usefulness of other related channels, for instance the neutral B-d decays into DK0(2)*(1430) and B-s -> (D-0, (D) over bar (0))M (M = f(0)(980), f(0)(1370), f(2)'(1525), f(1)(1285), f(1)(1420), h(1)(1180)), the B -> D(+)a(0,2)(+/-) for the extraction of gamma + 2 beta and the B-s -> (DK0,2*+/-)-K--/+ to access gamma + 2 beta(s), is also discussed in brevity.

Abstract:Using the factorization approach, we investigate the $\overline B^0 \to \overline K^0K^+\pi^-$ and $\overline B^0 \to K^0K^-\pi^+$ decays individually including the resonant and nonresonant contributions. Under the flavor SU(3) symmetry, we obtain the total branching fraction $BR [\overline B^0 \to (\overline K^0K^+\pi^-+K^0K^-\pi^+)]=(7.17^{+0.50+1.97+0.08}_{-0.53-1.42-0.07})\times 10^{-6}$, which is in agreement with the recent measurements of BaBar and LHCb within errors. For the decay $\overline B^0 \to \overline K^0K^+\pi^-$, the nonresonant background and $a_0^+(1450)$ pole in the current-induced process provide large contribution, the latter of which has not been included in previous studies. On the contrary,the decay $\overline B^0 \to K^0K^-\pi^+$ is dominated by the nonresonant background and the offshell $\rho^-$ pole. When the flavor SU(3) symmetry breaking and the final-state rescattering are considered under two different scenarios, the results can also accommodate the experimental data with large uncertainties. Moreover, the direct $CP$ asymmetry of $\overline B^0 \to \overline K^0K^+\pi^-$ is found to be sensitive to the matrix element of scalar density. These predictions could be further tested in the LHCb experiment or Super-b factory in future.

Abstract:We use the decay modes B -> K-0(*)(1430)pi and B -> a(0)(980)K to study the scalar mesons K-0(0)*(1430) and a(0)(980) within the framework of perturbative QCD. For B -> K-0(*)(1430)pi, we perform our calculation in two scenarios for the scalar meson spectrum. The results indicate that scenario II is more favored by the experimental data than scenario I. The important contribution from annihilation diagrams can enhance the branching ratios by about 50% in scenario I and about 30% in scenario II. The direct CP-asymmetries in B -> K-0(*)(1430)pi are small, which is consistent with the present experiments. The predicted branching ratio of B -> a(0)(980)K in scenario I differs from the experiments by a factor of 2, which indicates that a(0)(980) cannot be interpreted as (q) over barq.

Abstract:We exploit the quantum coherence between pair-produced D-0 and (D) over bar (0) in psi(3770) decays to make a first determination of the relative strong phase differences between D-0 -> K-S(0)pi(+)pi(-) and (D) over bar (0) -> K-S(0)pi(+)pi(-), which are of great importance in determining the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa angle gamma/phi(3) in B- -> D-0((D) over bar (0))K- decays. Using 818 pb(-1) of e(+)e(-) collision data collected with the CLEO-c detector at E-cm 3.77 GeV, we employ a binned Dalitz-plot analysis of K-S(0)pi(+)pi(-) and K-L(0)pi(+)pi(-) decays recoiling against flavor-tagged, CP-tagged, and K-S(0)pi(+)pi(-)-tagged events to determine these strong phase differences.
Reexamining B→ππ,π K Decays in QCD Factorization Approach

Abstract:Motivated by the recent experimental data, we have revisited the B ->pi K,pi pi decays in the framework of QCD factorization, with inclusion of the important strong penguin corrections of order alpha(2)(s) induced by b -> Dg(*)g(*) (D=d or s and g(*) denotes an off-shell gluon) transitions. We find that these higher order strong penguin contributions can provide similar to 30% enhancement to the penguin-dominated B ->pi K decay rates, and such an enhancement can improve the consistency between the theoretical predictions and the experimental data significantly, while for the tree-dominated B ->pi pi decays, these higher order contributions play only a minor role. When these strong penguin contributions are summed, only a small strong phase remains and the direct CP asymmetries get small corrections. We also find that patterns of the ratios between the CP-averaged branching fractions remain nearly unaffected even after including these higher order corrections and the pi K puzzle still persists. Our results may indicate that to resolve the puzzle one would have to resort to new physics contributions in the electroweak penguin sector as found by Buras et al.
Analysis of $B_s^0 \to X(3872) [ψ(2S)] π^+π^- (K^+ K^-)$ decays

Abstract:We have phenomenologically investigated the decays $B_s^0 \to X(3872) \pi^+\pi^- (K^+ K^-)$ and $B_s^0 \to \psi(2S) \pi^+ \pi^- (K^+K^-)$. In our analysis, the scalar meson $f_0(980)$ is formed through the final state interactions of coupled channels $\pi \pi$ and $K\bar{K}$. Our findings indicate that the $\pi^+\pi^-$ invariant mass distribution of the $B_s^0 \to \psi(2S)\pi^+\pi^-$ decay can be accurately reproduced. Furthermore, we have explored the $\pi^+\pi^- (K^+ K^-)$ invariant mass distribution of the $B_s^0 \to X(3872) \pi^+\pi^- (K^+ K^-)$ decay, accounting for the different production mechanisms between $X(3872)$ and $\psi(2S)$, up to a global factor. It is found that the production rates for $X(3872)$ and $\psi(2S)$ are much different, which indicates that the structure of $X(3872)$ is more complicated than the $\psi(2S)$, which is a conventional $c\bar{c}$ state. Additionally, we have considered the contributions from $f_0(1500)$ to $\pi^+\pi^-$ and the $\phi$ meson to $K^+ K^-$ in our analysis. Utilizing the model parameters, we have calculated the branching fraction of $B_s^0 \to X(3872) K^+ K^-$, and anticipate that the findings of our study can be experimentally tested in the future.

Does The Delta I=1/2 Rule Hold In D And B ->Pi Pi Decays?

Abstract:Although two pion decays of K, D and B have similar isospin structures, there are dramatic differences in the ratios R-K and R-D,R-B of amplitudes from Delta I = 3/2 and Delta Gamma = 1/2 interactions. In K -> pi pi decays there is the famous Delta I = 1/2 rule with R-K approximate to 1/22, whereas in B(D) - pi pi decays the ratios RD,B are of order one and therefore there is no such a rule. In this work we study decay amplitudes in B(D) -> pi pi using QCD factorization calculations paying particular attention to discrepancies between data and theoretical estimates. Since isospin does not play a special role in factorization calculations, no Delta I = 1/2 rule is expected. We find that theoretical results on the size of the amplitudes are in qualitative agreement with data. However the phases for the amplitudes are very different. We show that the effects of rescattering between the two pions in the final state can play a crucial rule in understanding the differences between B(D) -> pi pi and K -> pi pi decays. We also comment on the role of isospin analysis which applies to the study of CP violation in B -> pi pi decays.

Abstract:An amplitude analysis of the $B^0 \to K^{*0} \mu^+\mu^-$ decay is presented. The analysis is based on data collected by the LHCb experiment from proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 7,\,8$ and $13$ TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $4.7$ fb$^{-1}$. For the first time, Wilson coefficients and non-local hadronic contributions are accessed directly from the unbinned data, where the latter are parameterised as a function of $q^2$ with a polynomial expansion. Wilson coefficients and non-local hadronic parameters are determined under two alternative hypotheses: the first relies on experimental information alone, while the second one includes information from theoretical predictions for the non-local contributions. Both models obtain similar results for the parameters of interest. The overall level of compatibility with the Standard Model is evaluated to be between 1.8 and 1.9 standard deviations when looking at the $\mathcal{C}_9$ Wilson coefficient alone, and between 1.3 and 1.4 standard deviations when considering the full set of $\mathcal{C}_9, \, \mathcal{C}_{10}, \, \mathcal{C}_9^\prime$ and $\mathcal{C}_{10}^\prime$ Wilson coefficients. The ranges reflect the theoretical assumptions made in the analysis.
