Abstract:In this paper, some inequalities among the principal eigenvector, spectral radius and vertex degrees of a connected uniform hypergraph are established. Necessary and sufficient conditions of equalities holding are presented, which are related to the regularity of a hypergraph. Furthermore, we present some bounds on the spectral radius for a connected irregular uniform hypergraph in terms of some parameters, such as principal ratio, maximum degree, diameter, and the number of vertices and edges. Abstract:Let ℋ be a uniform hypergraph. In this paper, we obtain several bounds for the spectral radius of ℋ in terms of the parameters such as q -average-degrees, diameter, and characterize the corresponding extremal hypergraphs. Moreover, we discuss the change for the spectral radius of a uniform hypergraph after deleting a vertex, and give a comparison of our results with some known ones.

Abstract:The spectral radius of a nonnegative weakly irreducible tensor A is a positive eigenvalue,its corresponding unit positive eigenvector is called the principal eigenvector of A.The principal ratio of A is the ratio of the maximum entry and minimum entry of principal eigenvector.Some bounds on the principal ratio and the entries of principal eigenvector of a nonnegative weakly irreducible tensor are presented.Since the signless Laplacian tensor of a connected uniform hypergraph is weakly irreducible,some bounds on the principal ratio and the principal eigenvector of the signless Laplacian tensor of a connected uniform hypergraph can be obtained.

Abstract:Let G be a connected uniform hypergraphs with maximum degree Δ, spectral radius λ and minimum H-eigenvalue μ. In this paper, we give some lower bounds for Δ-λ, which extend the result of [S.M. Cioabă, D.A. Gregory, V. Nikiforov, Extreme eigenvalues of nonregular graphs, J. Combin. Theory, Ser. B 97 (2007) 483-486] to hypergraphs. Applying these bounds, we also obtain a lower bound for Δ+μ.

Abstract:The H-spectral radius and Z-spectral radius of a uniform hypergraph are the H-spectral radius and the Z-spectral radius of its adjacency tensor, respectively. We give upper bounds for the H-spectral radius and Z-spectral radius of uniform hypergraphs in terms of parameters such as number of vertices, number of edges, maximum degree, and minimum degree, and characterize the extremal hypergraphs. Some classical results on the spectral radius of an ordinary graph are generalized.

Abstract:For a $hypergraph$ $\mathcal{G}=(V, E)$ with a nonempty vertex set $V=V(\mathcal{G})$ and an edge set $E=E(\mathcal{G})$, its $adjacency$ $matrix$ $\mathcal {A}_{\mathcal{G}}=[(\mathcal {A}_{\mathcal{G}})_{ij}]$ is defined as $(\mathcal {A}_{\mathcal{G}})_{ij}=\sum_{e\in E_{ij}}\frac{1}{|e| - 1}$, where $E_{ij} = \{e\in E\, |\, i, j \in e\}$. The $spectral$ $radius$ of a hypergraph $\mathcal{G}$, denoted by $\rho(\mathcal {G})$, is the maximum modulus among all eigenvalues of $\mathcal {A}_{\mathcal{G}}$. In this paper, we get a formula about the spectral radius which link the ordinary graph and the hypergraph, and represent some results on the spectral radius changing under some graphic structural perturbations. Among all $k$-uniform ($k\geq 3$) unicyclic hypergraphs with fixed number of vertices, the hypergraphs with the minimum, the second the minimum spectral radius are completely determined, respectively; among all $k$-uniform ($k\geq 3$) unicyclic hypergraphs with fixed number of vertices and fixed girth, the hypergraphs with the maximum spectral radius are completely determined; among all $k$-uniform ($k\geq 3$) $octopuslike$ hypergraphs with fixed number of vertices, the hypergraphs with the minimum spectral radius are completely determined. As well, for $k$-uniform ($k\geq 3$) $lollipop$ hypergraphs, we get that the spectral radius decreases with the girth increasing.

Abstract:The spectral radius (or the signless Laplacian spectral radius) of a general hypergraph is the maximum modulus of the eigenvalues of its adjacency (or its signless Laplacian) tensor. In this paper, we firstly obtain a lower bound of the spectral radius (or the signless Laplacian spectral radius) of general hypergraphs in terms of clique number. Moreover, we present a relation between a homogeneous polynomial and the clique number of general hypergraphs. As an application, we finally obtain an upper bound of the spectral radius of general hypergraphs in terms of clique number.

Abstract:Let G be a connected hypergraph. The distance spectral radius of G is the largest eigenvalue of its distance matrix. The Wiener index of G is defined to be the sum of distances between every unordered pair of vertices of G. A connected k-uniform hypergraph G with n vertices and m edges is called bicyclic if n = m(k − 1) − 1. Firstly, we obtain a lower bound on the Wiener index of k-uniform bicyclic hypergraphs with n vertices. As an application, among all k-uniform bicyclic hypergraphs with n vertices, we determine the first four bicyclic hypergraphs with smallest distance spectral radii for k ≥ 4, and the bicyclic hypergraph with minimum distance spectral radius for k = 3.

Abstract:For $0\le\alpha<1$ and a uniform hypergraph $G$, the $\alpha$-spectral radius of $G$ is the largest $H$-eigenvalue of $\alpha \mathcal{D}(G) +(1-\alpha)\mathcal{A}(G)$, where $\mathcal{D}(G)$ and $\mathcal{A}(G)$ are the diagonal tensor of degrees and the adjacency tensor of $G$, respectively. We give upper bounds for the $\alpha$-spectral radius of a uniform hypergraph, propose some transformations that increase the $\alpha$-spectral radius, and determine the unique hypergraphs with maximum $\alpha$-spectral radius in some classes of uniform hypergraphs.

Abstract:For a general class of hypergraph Turán problems with uniformity $r$, we investigate the principal eigenvector for the $p$-spectral radius (in the sense of Keevash--Lenz--Mubayi and Nikiforov) for the extremal graphs, showing in a strong sense that these eigenvectors have close to equal weight on each vertex (equivalently, showing that the principal ratio is close to $1$). We investigate the sharpness of our result; it is likely sharp for the Turán tetrahedron problem.

Abstract:In this paper, we defined two classes of hypergraphs, hyperbugs and kite hypergraphs. We show that balanced hyperbugs maximize the spectral radii of hypergraphs with fixed number of vertices and diameter and kite hypergraphs minimize the spectral radii of hypergraphs with fixed number of vertices and clique number.

Abstract:For 0≤α<1, the Aα-spectral radius of a k-uniform hypergraph G is defined to be the spectral radius of the tensor Aα(G):=αD(G)+(1−α)A(G), where D(G) and A(G) are the diagonal and adjacency tensors of G, respectively. This paper presents several lower bounds for the difference between the Aα-spectral radius and an average degree kmn of a connected k-uniform hypergraph G with n vertices and m edges, which are considered as measures of irregularity of G. Moreover, two lower bounds on the Aα-spectral radius are obtained in terms of the maximum and minimum degrees of uniform hypergraphs.

Abstract:Let X=(x1,x2,...,xn)T be the principal eigenvector corresponding to the spectral radius λ1 of a graph G of order n. In this paper, we find some bounds on the ratio of the maximal component xmax to the minimal component xmin of the principal eigenvector X in terms of the graph parameters such as the independence number β , the minimum vertex cover number of the vertex α and the chromatic number χ . Also, we present some bounds on the extremal component xmax of the principal eigenvector X. An upper bound of the spectral radius λ1 of G in terms of the minimum vertex cover number α and order of the graph n is also introduced in this paper.

Abstract:For a $k$-uniform hypergraph $H$, we obtain some trace formulas for the Laplacian tensor of $H$, which imply that $\sum_{i=1}^nd_i^s$ ($s=1,\ldots,k$) is determined by the Laplacian spectrum of $H$, where $d_1,\ldots,d_n$ is the degree sequence of $H$. Using trace formulas for the Laplacian tensor, we obtain expressions for some coefficients of the Laplacian polynomial of a regular hypergraph. We give some spectral characterizations of odd-bipartite hypergraphs, and give a partial answer to a question posed by Shao et al (2014). We also give some spectral properties of power hypergraphs, and show that a conjecture posed by Hu et al (2013) holds under certain conditons.

Abstract:A connected $k$-uniform hypergraph with $n$ vertices and $m$ edges is called $r$-cyclic if $n=m(k-1)-r+1$. For $r=1$ or $2$, the hypergraph is simply called unicyclic or bicyclic. In this paper we investigate hypergraphs that attain larger spectral radii among all simple connected $k$-uniform unicyclic and bicyclic hypergraphs. Specifically, by using some edge operations, the formula on power hypergraph eigenvalues, the weighted incidence matrix and a result on linear unicyclic hypergraphs, we determined the first five hypergraphs with larger spectral radius among all unicyclic hypergraphs and the first three over all bicyclic hypergraphs.
