In this paper, we show that for any fixed $c\in \left( 1,\frac{77}{76}\right) $ there are infinitely many primes of the form $p=\left\lfloor n^c\right\rfloor $, where $n$ is a natural number with at most eight prime factors (counted with multiplicity).

Abstract:Let $m \in \mathbb{N}$ be large. We show that there exist infinitely many primes $q_{1}< \cdot\cdot\cdot < q_{m+1}$ such that \[ q_{m+1}-q_{1}=O(e^{7.63m}) \] and $q_{j}+2$ has at most \[ \frac{7.36m}{\log 2} + \frac{4\log m}{\log 2} + 21 \] prime factors for each $1 \leq j \leq m+1$. This improves the previous result of Li and Pan, replacing $e^{7.63m}$ by $m^{4}e^{8m}$ and $\frac{7.36m}{\log 2} + \frac{4\log m}{\log 2} + 21$ by $\frac{16m}{\log 2} + \frac{5\log m}{\log 2} + 37$. The main inputs are the Maynard-Tao sieve, a minorant for the indicator function of the primes constructed by Baker and Irving, for which a stronger equidistribution theorem in arithmatic progressions to smooth moduli is applicable, and Tao's approach previously used to estimate $\sum_{x \leq n < 2x} \mathbf{1}_{\mathbb{P}}(n)\mathbf{1}_{\mathbb{P}}(n+12)\omega_{n}$, where $\mathbf{1}_{\mathbb{P}}$ stands for the characteristic function of the primes and $\omega_{n}$ are multidimensional sieve weights.

Abstract:The Piatetski-Shapiro sequences are of the form $\mathcal{N}^{(c)} := (\lfloor n^c \rfloor)_{n=1}^\infty$ with $c > 1, c \not\in \mathbb{N}$. In this paper, we study the distribution of pairs $(p, p^{\#})$ of consecutive primes such that $p \in \mathcal{N}^{(c_1)}$ and $p^{\#} \in \mathcal{N}^{(c_2)}$ for $c_1, c_2 > 1$ and give a conjecture with the prime counting functions of the pairs $(p, p^{\#})$. We give a heuristic argument to support this prediction which relies on a strong form of the Hardy-Littlewood conjecture. Moreover, we prove a proposition related to the average of singular series with a weight of a complex exponential function.

Abstract:We prove that, for any $c_1,c_2,c_3\in(1,41/35)$, every sufficiently large odd number $N$ can be represented as the sum of three primes $N = p_1 + p_2 +p_3$ such that $p_i = \lfloor n_{i}^{c_i}\rfloor$ for some $n_i \in{\mathbb N}$ for each $1 \leq i \leq 3$. Our arguments are based on a variant of Green's transference principle due to Matomäki, Maynard and Shao. We prove a necessary restriction estimate using Bourgain's strategy and employ Harman's sieve method to optimize our upper bound for $c_i$.

Abstract:In a recent joint work with D.A. Goldston and C.Y. Yildirim we just missed by a hairbreadth a proof that bounded gaps between primes occur infinitely often. In the present work it is shown that adding to the primes a much thinner set, called almost prime powers, the union of the set of primes and almost prime powers contains already infinitely many bounded gaps. More precisely it is shown that if we add to the set of primes either almost prime squares having exactly two, nearly equal prime factors or if we add to the set of primes almost prime cubes having exactly three, nearly equal prime factors, then the resulting set contains already infinitely many bounded gaps.

Abstract:Let $\pi(x;\gamma_1,\gamma_2)$ denote the number of primes $p$ with $p\leqslant x$ and $p=\lfloor n^{1/\gamma_1}_1\rfloor=\lfloor n^{1/\gamma_2}_2\rfloor$, where $\lfloor t\rfloor$ denotes the integer part of $t\in\mathbb{R}$ and $1/2<\gamma_2<\gamma_1<1$ are fixed constants. In this paper, we show that $\pi(x;\gamma_1,\gamma_2)$ holds an asymptotic formula for $21/11<\gamma_1+\gamma_2<2$, which constitutes an improvement upon the previous result of Baker [1].

Abstract:We prove that $\mathop{\mathbb{E}}_{m \leq M} \mathop{\mathbb{E}}_{n \leq N} \Lambda(n) \Lambda\bigl(n + \lfloor m^c \rfloor\bigr) = 1 + \rm{O}(\log^{2 - Bc} N)$, where $c > 2$ is a non-integer, $B \geq 3/c$, and $M$ is of order $N^{1/c} \log^{-B} N$. As a combinatorial consequence, we obtain that the primes contain infinitely many pairs whose difference belongs to the Piatetski-Shapiro sequence $\bigl\{\lfloor m^c \rfloor \colon m \in \mathbb{N} \bigr\}$ for any non-integer $c > 2$.

Abstract:Assuming the Riemann hypothesis, this article discusses a new elementary argument that seems to prove that the maximal prime gap of a finite sequence of primes p_1, p_2, ..., p_n <= x, satisfies max {p_(n+1) - p_n : p_n <= x} <= c1((logx)^2)/loglogx, c1 > 0 constant. Equivalently, it shows that the very short intervals (x, x + y] contain prime numbers for all y > c2((logx)^2)/loglogx, c2 > 0 constant, and sufficiently large x > 0.

Abstract:In 1999, Balog, Brüdern, and Wooley (1999) showed there are infinitely many prime gaps $p-q$ that are $(\log p)^{\frac{3}{4}}$-smooth, and infinitely many consecutive prime gaps that are $(\log p)^\frac{7}{8}$-smooth. Advancements made since then by Zhang (2014), Maynard (2014), and Polymath8b (2014) towards resolving the twin prime conjecture have given us the tools to lower the bounds made by Balog, Brüdern, and Wooley to 47. Moreover, we can show there are infinitely many $m$-tuples of primes whose gaps are all $y_m$-smooth for a calculable prime $y_m$.

Abstract:In this paper we solve the ternary Piatetski-Shapiro inequality with prime numbers of a special form. Abstract:We establish quantitative lower bounds for the number of primes $p$ such that, for an odd integer $b$, $p - b \leq N$ and $p - b = 2^{k(N) + m} P_k \quad \text{for some } m \geq 0$, where $P_k$ is a product of at most $k$ primes other than 2, for $k \geq 2$. These results hold under various upper bounds for $2^{k(N)}$ depending on $k $, specifically when $2^{k(N)} \leq N^a$ for different values of $a$. Our approach combines techniques from Chen's theorem, weighted sieves, and Selberg's lower bound sieve, as well as results on primes in arithmetic progressions with large power factor moduli.
