Abstract:Risk is the probability of uncertain future events.Stock price reflects the expectation of the future risk.Using the daily stock return time series of Chinese listed commercial banks, this paper studies the measurement of systemic risk through correlation analysis and CoVaR method. The conclusions are:joint-equity commercial banks and city commercial banks generally correlate more with other banks than state-owned large commercial banks, and the probability of triggering systemic risk due to the failure of joint-equity commercial banks and city commercial banks is greater than that due to stateowned large commercial banks. On one hand,it is because joint-equity commercial banks’and city commercial banks’assets have grown too fast in recent years. On the other hand,it is the injection of state reputation capital in state-owned large commercial banks that reduces the probability of triggering systemic risk due to the failure of state-owned large commercial banks, and this"too big to fail"prospect is reflected in the stock market.
