Influence of Different Characteristics of Technology to Innovation Patterns of the Enterprise

Abstract:In order to cope with the fierce market competition, more and more enterprises increase their R&D input for technical innovation in order to acquire or maintain competitive advantages. The choice of technologic innovation pattern, which is one of the most important strategic decisions for the enterprise, is vital for the success of the technologic innovation for an enterprise. Moreover, the innovational pattern is influenced by many factors. Based on the classification of technologic characteristics and innovational patterns, which can make different results for enterprises to select innovational mode, this article analyzes the different influences from the technological complexity, uncertainty and implicity to independent innovation, collaborate innovation and imitation. In addition, relevant hypothesizes are proposed with conceptual models. The main conclusions are shown below: the greater technologic complexity is, the more likely the corporation wants to adopt cooperation innovation, while less likely to adopt independent innovation and imitation, the more tacit the technology is, the more likely the corporation wants to adopt cooperation innovation and independent innovation, while less likely to adopt imitation; the more uncertain the technology is, the more likely the corporation wants to adopt cooperation innovation.
