At the same time this helps us to make better use of energy and improve the wellbeing of the residents. To achieve the desired results, a Texas Instruments Sensor for real time measurement and Raspberry Pi 3 gate way, along with IMB Watson platform for Internet of Things were applied. The theoretical part will discuss and describe operations of the smart home device elements in details. This thesis uses open source community resources for its own specific Smart Home Device design and can be used for further developments of similar open source projects. There are unlimited number of applications which can be done using a wireless sensor and Raspberry Pi. A successful and better devices can be achieved using the latest products. This project can be helpful to understand and learn the core of Internet of Things and Smart Home Automation.

Abstract:Internet of things which helps communication between human and thing and between things by connecting networks on them is developing. Abstract:The Internet of Things (IoT) is used to describe a network of physical objects which are connected to each other with the help of embedded sensors, transceivers and software code to communicate and share data with each other. The Internet of Things, which first took shape back in the 1980s through an ARPA-NET connected Coca-Cola Vending machine in Carnegie Mellon University has come a long way since then. In today’s world a growing proportion of new home appliances are coming with IoT features embedded in them. These include, but are not limited to Television Sets, Refrigerators, Microwave Ovens, Fitness trackers, Smart watches and even IoT enabled light bulbs. IoT devices are not only used in Homes but also in Industries where they can play a pivotal role in bringing down operating costs and helping companies make better business decisions to align their companies in the right direction. With the advent of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and Industry 4.0, a new standard has been set that organizations follow to gain a lot of key advantages such as improving productivity, customer experience, driving down costs and taking better informed decisions. IoT devices have also entered the healthcare industry where they play a paramount role in monitoring vital signs of patients. These devices continuously monitor all the vital signs such as heart rate, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.

Abstract:With the development of science and technology, the Internet of Things technology is becoming more and more mature, and it is widely used in various scenarios. The Internet of Things technology is combined with traditional home equipment to realize the intelligence of home equipment. This paper proposes a smart home system design with STM32 microcontroller as the main controller, using WiFi technology as the network access method of home equipment and combining with China Mobile’s cloud platform. The design results show that the smart home system can complete the data transmission and communication control of the smart home system, record indoor environmental data and home equipment status, and realize remote control of home equipment through the APP and web platform.

Abstract:This Internet of Things technology is created and developed by humans to facilitate every work and affairs in various aspects of life. One of them can be applied in everyday life. The day is controlling household electrical appliances to turn off and on from loot. The use communication Internet through Android smartphones. The tool needed a device ESP32 as the intermediary to connect the instrument to network the Internet to Android smartphones. This study built the system using a microcontroller working with relays. In this system, the relay acts as a switch for turning off and on the device. Electricity Action: Turning off and turning on electrical equipment remotely. Generated tools in the form of controlling Android-based lights using ESP32 technology and can use Smartphones and Android to control the lights.

Abstract:In order to help students better understand and acquire the application of the Internet of Things（IoT） in real life, this paper builds a house model according to the scale simulation of the real object and designs an open innovation experimental platform of embedded smart house based on the IoT cloud platform. With STM32 embedded main control board as the core, the system combines multiple sensors to control simulated household equipment in the model, connects to the IoT cloud platform through BC28 module, and constructs data channel to realize two-way communication. The Web terminal application interface is also designed at the same time, then a whole set of smart house system is finally completed. The environment and information of household devices can be remotely monitored by users in real time on mobile terminal or PC terminal.

Abstract:Home automation is the introduction of technology within the environment to provide convenience, comfort, security and energy efficiency to its occupants. The management and control of our home appliances is germane to living and having a better quality of life, hence the need to design a system that automates the control of home appliances to ease the stress of having to manually control household appliances. An Android based home automation system with Internet of Things (IOT) was designed and implemented to control electrical appliances The hardware module consists of the power and control sections. The system draws power from the mains outlet and is converted to 5V by the AC-DC converter circuit. The software section comprises of the ESP8266 WiFi Microcontroller code, the Android application which controls the microcontroller wirelessly, the web server and WiFi connection. The designed home automation system was effective in remotely controlling electrical appliances. It also displays the weather information in the application in digital format. The system is portable and practicable due to its compact size. The system can be used to ensure efficient usage of electrical energy as well as maintain a good atmospheric condition.

Abstract:Human life is improving and advancing due to the industry's quick development. Automatic systems are currently favoured over non-automated systems. The Internet has grown significantly in popularity among customers over the past few years, and IoT is the newest and most cutting-edge online technology. Because they can deliver information and accomplish tasks while we are busy with other chores, internet of things plays a significant part in human existence as well as in the field of education. This project showcases a smart home automation prototype with Wi-Fi implementation. An example of ESP12E technology is Wi-Fi. A hardware interface and a software interface make up the suggested system. An application issupplied for managing home appliances with smartphones, and the hardware interface manifests the integration of ESP8266 Wi-Fi technology with Arduino Nano for controlling home appliances. This system is one of the greatest ways to manage energy efficiently while easily allowing many users to handle various home appliances. The system's administrator only grants various people access to the entire system. As long as there is Wi- Fi network coverage, this system can also be expanded to manage other household appliances as well as to use sensors for home security and safety.

Abstract:Home automation systems have attracted considerable attention with the advancement of communications technology. A smart home (SH) is an Internet of Things (IoT) application that utilizes the Internet to monitor and control appliances using a home automation system. Lack of IoT technology usage, unfriendly user interface, limited wireless transmission range, and high costs are the limitations of existing home automation systems. Therefore, this study presents a cost-effective and hybrid (local and remote) IoT-based home automation system with a user-friendly interface for smartphones and laptops. A prototype called IoT@HoMe is developed with an algorithm to enable the monitoring of home conditions and automate the control of home appliances over the Internet anytime and anywhere. This system utilizes a node microcontroller unit (NodeMCU) as a Wi-Fi-based gateway to connect different sensors and updates their data to Adafruit IO cloud server. The collected data from several sensors (radio-frequency identification, ultrasonic, temperature, humidity, gas, and motion sensors) can be accessed via If This Then That (IFTTT) on users' devices (smartphones and/or laptops) over the Internet regardless of their location. A set of relays is used to connect the NodeMCU to homes under controlled appliances. The designed system is structured in a portable manner as a control box that can be attached for monitoring and controlling a real house. The proposed IoT-based system for home automation can easily and efficiently control appliances over the Internet and support home safety with autonomous operation. IoT@HoMe is a low cost and reliable automation system that reduces energy consumption and can notably provide convenience, safety, and security for SH residents.

Abstract:With the rapid development of Internet communication and Electronic Science and technology, people’s life style has also undergone earth shaking changes. With the development of science and technology, the products of the new era play an important role in people’s life. Smart home related industries have also developed rapidly, providing people with a more comfortable daily life. The smart home system of this design adopts STM32 Series MCU. With the help of smoke gas sensor, light intensity sensor, temperature and humidity sensor, etc., the data detected by the sensor is sent to STM32 microprocessor for analysis, and the received data is sent to Alibaba Intelligent Cloud Internet of things service through EPS 8266 WiFi chip. The control part sends the data to EPS8266 through Alibaba cloud through the web interface, Then send instructions to the STM32 microprocessor to control the curtains, lights, plugins, etc. through the detection of various parameters in the indoor environment and the control of equipment in the home, not only security and remote control are realized, but also intelligent control can be carried out according to the conditions of the indoor environment.

Abstract:Internet of Things (IoT) devices are connected to the Internet and provide a variety of scopes in different projects and research domains. Smart home monitoring and automation largely depend on the usage of IoT devices. The concept of a smart home is now widely popular and a necessity in modern busy urban life. As most homeowner has to work at a distant workplace, it is a quite cumbersome job to monitor their household activity. In this paper, we address this issue and develop a prototype smart home system. The system contains IoT devices that are responsible for continuously sensing the home environment and sending the data to the Microcontroller. The microcontroller receives data and generates automated actions. We also connected the smart home system to a mobile Android application using the internet via a WiFi module. Thus, the homeowner can observe the current status of the home and will get a notification of the urgent situations in the application. We described the hardware requirement, software requirement, and connectivity of the devices. We ran different tests and checked the performance of the IoT sensors that were used. The developed prototype performed as expected and the integration of the smart home and Android application was quite smooth for monitoring and taking automated actions. Abstract:Recently, home automation system has getting significant attention because of the fast and advanced technology, making daily living more convenient. Almost everything has been digitalized and automated. The development of home automation will become easier and more popular because of the use of the Internet of Things (IoT). This paper described various interconnection systems of actuators, sensors to enable multiple home automation implementations. The system is known as HAS (Home automation system). It operates by connecting the robust Application Programming Interface (API), which is the key to a universal communication method. The HAS used devices, often implemented the actuators or sensors that have an upwards communication network followed by HAS (API). Most of the devices of the HAS (home automation system) used Raspberry Pi boards and ESP8285 chips. A smartphone application has been developed that allows users to control a wide range of home appliances and sensors from their smartphones. The application is user-friendly, adaptable, and beneficial for consumers and disabled people. It has the potential to be further extended via the use of various devices. The main objectives of this work are to make our home automation system, more secure and intelligent. HAS is a highly effective and efficient computational system that may be enhanced with a variety of devices and add-ons.

Abstract:A lot of communication are developed and advanced with different and heterogeneous communication techniques by integration of wireless and wire connection. Conventional technology is mainly focus on information technology based on computer techniques in the field of industry, manufacture and automation fields. It consists of individual skill and technique. As new technologies are developed and enhanced with conventional techniques, a lot of new application is emerged and merged with previous mechanism and skills. The representative application is internet of things services and applications. Internet of things is breakthrough technologies and one of the innovation industries which are called 4 generation industry revolution. Many different types of object and devices are embedded in sensor node. They are inter-connected with optimized open system interconnection protocol over internet, wireless and wire medium. Most of communication is fully inter-connected with conventional techniques at point to point and end to application in general. Most of information in internet of things is weak against attack. This may induce vulnerable features to unauthorized and outside attacker over internet protocol, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and so forth. As high and low efficient equipment are merged into heterogeneous infrastructure, IoT communication surroundings has become more complex, Due to limited resources in IoT such as small memory, low power and computing power, IoT devices are vulnerable and disclosed with security problems. In this chapter, we analyzed security challenges and threats based on smart home network under IoT service.

Abstract:Besides the development of technology in recent years, there has been an effective tendency to construct smart cities and homes. Whereas the smart home control system components can be incorporated with the existing home appliances to eliminate the need for human intervention, save electricity, protect homes from accidents as well as the theft, and provide home residents with comfort. This work comprises the utilising of the internet of things (IoT) technology to build the proposed design for the smart home. The proposed design includes many subsystems as well as several types of sensors, such as the passive infrared (PIR) sensor, the gas sensor, the soil moisture sensor, the water level sensor, the temperature sensor, the light dependent resistance (LDR), and the flame sensor. Each sensor will be connected to the Arduino Nano for the data processing purpose, after which the Arduino Nano will be connected to the NodeMCU module via the digital pins to implement the IoT subsystem. The proposed system also includes a smart garage gate based on Bluetooth HC-05 module with a specially programmed android app.
