Abstract:The proliferation of mobile devices, ubiquitous internet, and cloud computing has sparked a new era of Internet of Things (IoT), thus allowing researchers to create application-specific solutions based on the interconnection between physical objects and the internet. Recently, wearable devices are rapidly emerging and forming a new segment-“Wearable IoT (WIoT)” due to their capability of sensing, computing and communication. Future generations of WIoT promise to transform the healthcare sector, wherein individuals are seamlessly tracked by wearable sensors for personalized health and wellness information-body vital parameters, physical activity, behaviors, and other critical parameters impacting quality of daily life. This paper presents an effort to conceptualize WIoT in terms of their design, function, and applications. We discuss the building blocks of WIoT-including wearable sensors, internet-connected gateways and cloud and big data support-that are key to its future success in healthcare domain applications. We also present a new system science for WIoT that suggests future directions, encompassing operational and clinical aspects.

Abstract:Internet-of-Things (IoT) is the convergence of Internet with RFID, Sensor and smart objects. IoT can be defined as “things belonging to the Internet” to supply and access all of real-world information. Billions of devices are expected to be associated into the system and that shall require huge distribution of networks as well as the process of transforming raw data into meaningful inferences. IoT is the biggest promise of the technology today, but still lacking a novel mechanism, which can be perceived through the lenses of Internet, things and semantic vision. This paper presents a novel architecture model for IoT with the help of Semantic Fusion Model (SFM). This architecture introduces the use of Smart Semantic framework to encapsulate the processed information from sensor networks. The smart embedded system is having semantic logic and semantic value based Information to make the system an intelligent system. This paper presents a discussion on Internet oriented applications, services, visual aspect and challenges for Internet of things using RFID, 6lowpan and sensor networks.

Abstract:The Internet of Things (IoT) is used to describe a network of physical objects which are connected to each other with the help of embedded sensors, transceivers and software code to communicate and share data with each other. The Internet of Things, which first took shape back in the 1980s through an ARPA-NET connected Coca-Cola Vending machine in Carnegie Mellon University has come a long way since then. In today’s world a growing proportion of new home appliances are coming with IoT features embedded in them. These include, but are not limited to Television Sets, Refrigerators, Microwave Ovens, Fitness trackers, Smart watches and even IoT enabled light bulbs. IoT devices are not only used in Homes but also in Industries where they can play a pivotal role in bringing down operating costs and helping companies make better business decisions to align their companies in the right direction. With the advent of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and Industry 4.0, a new standard has been set that organizations follow to gain a lot of key advantages such as improving productivity, customer experience, driving down costs and taking better informed decisions. IoT devices have also entered the healthcare industry where they play a paramount role in monitoring vital signs of patients. These devices continuously monitor all the vital signs such as heart rate, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.

Abstract:Today's cities face many challenges due to population growth, aging population, pedestrian and vehicular traffic congestion, water usage increase, increased electricity demands, crumbling physical infrastructure of buildings, roads, water sewage, power grid, and declining health care services. Moreover, major trends indicate the global urbanization of society, and the associated pressures it brings, will continue to accelerate. One of the approaches to assist in solving some of the challenges is to deploy extensive IT technology. It has been recognized that cyber-technology plays a key role in improving quality of people's lives, strengthening business and helping government agencies serve citizens better. In this white paper, we discuss the benefits and challenges of cyber-technologies within "Smart Cities", especially the IoT (Internet of Things) for smart communities, which means considering the benefits and challenges of IoT cyber-technologies on smart cities physical infrastructures and their human stakeholders. To point out the IoT challenges, we will first present the framework within which IoT lives, and then proceed with the challenges, conclusions and recommendations.

In actuality, the IoT environment faces a variety of difficulties that materially affect their performance. These difficulties can be divided into two groups: I Overarching issues including virtualization, connectivity, heterogeneity, and security;ii) Distinctive barriers: Examples include the wireless sensor network (WSN), radio frequency identification (RFID), and quality of service (QoS), which is viewed as a factor that is shared by both special challenges and general challenges. Abstract:The Internet of things can be defined as a world-wide network of interconnected objects, which are uniquely addressable. Smart home is one of the applications of the Internet of things in the development of networking technologies. In a smart home, all the home appliances like Lights, Fans, Computer, etc. can be interconnected with a Wireless Sensor Network and can be manipulated by a smart mobile from inside and outside the door through gateway. In the traditional smart home architecture, the Memory and CPU of the Sensor Nodes are idle for most of the time, and these resources were not used in an efficient manner. Using the Virtualization concept of Cloud computing technology, in this paper, we have proposed an energy and cost effective smart home architecture, which connect the Wireless Sensor Nodes through the Virtual Sensor Network (VSN). Virtual Sensor Networking is a developing approach which enables the dynamic collection of a subset of sensor nodes. Our simulation result shows that there is a falling of CPU utilization by 70%, and it also increases the efficient usage of memory capacity.

Abstract:The recent history has witnessed disruptive advances in disciplines related to information and communication technologies that have laid a rich technological ecosystem for the growth and maturity of latent paradigms in this domain. Among them, sensor networks have evolved from the originally conceived set-up where hundreds of nodes with sensing and actuating functionalities were deployed to capture information from their environment and act accordingly (coining the so-called wireless sensor network concept) to the provision of such functionalities embedded in quotidian objects that communicate and work together to collaboratively accomplish complex tasks based on the information they acquire by sensing the environment. This is nowadays a reality, embracing the original idea of an Internet of things (IoT) forged in the late twentieth century, yet featuring unprecedented scales, capabilities and applications ignited by new radio interfaces, communication protocols and intelligent data-based models. This chapter examines the latest findings reported in the literature around these topics, with a clear focus on IoT communications, protocols and platforms, towards ultimately identifying opportunities and trends that will be at the forefront of IoT-related research in the near future.

Abstract:Pervasive sensing facilitated by Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) technologies offered the integration of modern technology into a daily routine. The smart sensing approach offers the ability to sense the ambient parameters and use of different objects in the urban environment. Identification and monitoring technologies, WSNs, wireless communication protocols, and dispersed intelligence for objects are primitive elements of smart environmental solution. The WSNs with the application of Internet of Things (IoT) and Cloud Computing are uplifting the smart home solutions and applications. The present research work aims to develop smart home and building solutions based on IoT and cloud computing. The cloud implementation using free cloud space, which is based on collaboration between public and private clouds, is presented. Additionally the research work recorded recent practical challenges and limitations encounter while designing the IoT-based smart environment. The research identifies the IoT idea through the conjunction of WSNs, the internet and distributed computing with data mining and machine learning an approach to apply at smart home to benefit and humankind.

Abstract:The Internet of Things, or the IoT is a vision for a ubiquitous society wherein people and "Things" are connected in an immersively networked computing environment, with the connected "Things" providing utility to people/enterprises and their digital shadows, through intelligent social and commercial services. Translating this idea to a conceivable reality is a work in progress for more than a decade. Current IoT architectures are predicated on optimistic assumptions on the evolution and deployment of IoT technologies. We believe many of these assumptions will not be met, consequently impeding the practical and sustainable deployment of IoT. In this article, we explore use-cases across different applications domains that can potentially benefit from an IoT infrastructure, and analyze them in the context of an alternative world-view that is more grounded in reality. Despite this more conservative approach, we argue that adopting certain design paradigms when architecting an IoT ecosystem can achieve much of the promised benefits in a practical and sustainable manner.

Abstract:The Internet of Things (IoT) is rapidly becoming one of the most talked-about and essential components of any digitization process. The IoT is comprised of several key necessary components, the most important of which are sensors, communication (the internet), and user interfaces for data processing. IoTs are currently finding applications in virtually every industry, including healthcare, where they are known as the internet of medical things (IoMT), industry, where they are known as the industrial internet of things (IIoT), and interconnection between people, where they are known as the internet of everything (IoE). The challenge is to leverage the Internet of Things (IoT), technology, and data to create smarter and more sustainable cities that enhance the quality of life for residents. Therefore, in this article; we have demonstrated the use of the IoT in a variety of applications for smart communities. These applications include smart transportation, smart water management, smart garbage management, smart house illumination, smart parking, smart infrastructure, etc. This research also includes an explanation of the flow process of implementing the IoT in different applications of smart communities, as well as their characteristics and particular applications. Along with their flow illustration, the stages involved in the implementation of smart city applications and the components they consist of are also displayed here. We have also taken into consideration the instances of particular cases and their implementation utilizing IoT. Some of these cases include the automated water collection methods of smart water management systems as well as the condition of the water. Based on the findings of the research, we came to the conclusion that IoT devices play an essential role in each and every one of the smart city project implementations.

Abstract:The Internet of Things (IoT) shall be able to incorporate transparently and seamlessly a large number of different and heterogeneous end systems, while providing open access to selected subsets of data for the development of a plethora of digital services. Building a general architecture for the IoT is hence a very complex task, mainly because of the extremely large variety of devices, link layer technologies, and services that may be involved in such a system. In this paper, we focus specifically to an urban IoT system that, while still being quite a broad category, are characterized by their specific application domain. Urban IoTs, in fact, are designed to support the Smart City vision, which aims at exploiting the most advanced communication technologies to support added-value services for the administration of the city and for the citizens. This paper hence provides a comprehensive survey of the enabling technologies, protocols, and architecture for an urban IoT. Furthermore, the paper will present and discuss the technical solutions and best-practice guidelines adopted in the Padova Smart City project, a proof-of-concept deployment of an IoT island in the city of Padova, Italy, performed in collaboration with the city municipality.

Abstract:The Internet of Things (IoT) is a dynamic global information network consisting of internet-connected objects, such as Radio-frequency identification (RFIDs), sensors, actuators, as well as other instruments and smart appliances that are becoming an integral component of the future internet. Over the last decade, we have seen a large number of the IoT solutions developed by start-ups, small and medium enterprises, large corporations, academic research institutes (such as universities), and private and public research organisations making their way into the market. In this paper, we survey over one hundred IoT smart solutions in the marketplace and examine them closely in order to identify the technologies used, functionalities, and applications. More importantly, we identify the trends, opportunities and open challenges in the industry-based the IoT solutions. Based on the application domain, we classify and discuss these solutions under five different categories: smart wearable, smart home, smart, city, smart environment, and smart enterprise. This survey is intended to serve as a guideline and conceptual framework for future research in the IoT and to motivate and inspire further developments. It also provides a systematic exploration of existing research and suggests a number of potentially significant research directions.
