Abstract:In this paper, we reformulate the Euler-Lagrange equations of Willmore surfaces in S-n as the flatness of a family of certain loop algebra-valued 1-forms. Therefore we can give the Weierstrass type representation of conformal Willmore surfaces. We also discuss the relations between conformal Willmore surfaces in S-n and minimal surfaces in constant curvature spaces S-n, R-n, H-n, and prove that some special Willmore surfaces can be derived from minimal surfaces in S-n, R-n, H-n.

Abstract:In this paper we define a Moebius invariant metric and a Moebius invariant second fundamental form for submanifolds in double-struck S signn and show that in case of a hypersurface with n ≥ 4 they determine the hypersurface up to Moebius transformations. Using these Moebius invariants we calculate the first variation of the moebius volume functional. We show that any minimal surface in double-struck S signn is also Moebius minimal and that the image in double-struck S signn of any minimal surface in ℝn unter the inverse of a stereographic projection is also Moebius minimal. Finally we use the relations between Moebius invariants to classify all surfaces in double-struck S sign3 with vanishing Moebius form.

Abstract:Let $ M^m$ be an umbilic-free submanifold in $S^n$ with I and II as the first and second fundamental forms. An important Moebius invariant for $M^m$ in Moebius differential geometry is the so-called Moebius form $\Phi$, defined by $\Phi =-\rho^{-2}\sum_{i,\alpha}\{H^{\alpha}_{,i} +\sum_j(II^{\alpha}_{ij}-H^{\alpha}I_{ij})e_j(\log \rho)\{\omega_i\otimes e_{\alpha}$, where $\{e_i\}$ is a local basis of the tangent bundle with dual basis , $\{e_{\alpha}\}$ is a local basis of the normal bundle, $H=\sum_{\alpha}H^{\alpha}e_{\alpha}$ is the mean curvature vector and $\rho =\sqrt{m\over{m-1}}\|II-HI\|$. In this paper we prove that if $x: S^2\to S^n$ is an umbilics-free immersion of 2-sphere with vanishing Moebius form $\Phi$, then there exists a Moebius transformation $\tau: S^n\to S^n$ and a 2k-equator $S^{2k}\subset S^n$ with $2\le k\le [n/2]$ such that $\tau\circ x:S^2\to S^{2k}$ is the Veronese surface.

Abstract:Let $\mathbb{M}(\mathbb{S}^{n+1})$ denote the Möbius transformation group of the $(n+1)$-dimensional sphere $\mathbb{S}^{n+1}$. A hypersurface $x:M^n\to \mathbb{S}^{n+1}$ is called a Möbius homogeneous hypersurface if there exists a subgroup $G$ of $\mathbb{M}(\mathbb{S}^{n+1})$ such that the orbit $G\cdot p=x(M^n), p\in x(M^n)$. In this paper, the Möbius homogeneous hypersurfaces are classified completely up to a Möbius transformation of $\mathbb{S}^{n+1}$.

Abstract:Let Mn be an immersed umbilic-free hypersurface in the (n + 1)-dimensional unit sphere double-script S signn+1, then M n is associated with a, so-called Möbius metric g, a Möbius second fundamental form B and a Möbius form Φ which are invariants of Mn under the Möbius transformation group of double-script S signn+1. A classical theorem of Möbius geometry states that Mn (n ≥ 3) is in fact characterized by g and B up to Möbius equivalence. A Möbius isoparametric hypersurface is defined by satisfying two conditions: (1) Φ = 0; (2) All the eigenvalues of B with respect to g are constants. Note that Euclidean isoparametric hyper-surfaces are automatically Möbius isoparametric, whereas the latter are Dupin hypersurfaces. In this paper, we prove that a Möbius isoparametric hypersurface in double-script S sign4 is either of parallel Möbius second fundamental form or Möbius equivalent to a tube of constant radius over a standard Veronese embedding of ℝP2 into double-script S sign4. The classification of hypersurfaces in S n+1 (n ≥ 2) with parallel Möbius second fundamental form has been accomplished in our previous paper [6]. The present result is a, counterpart of Pinkall's classification for Dupin hypersurfaces in double-script E sign4 up to Lie equivalence.

Abstract:In the article [\emph{Deformations of hypersurfaces preserving the Möbius metric and a reduction theorem}, Adv. Math. 256 (2014), 156--205], Li, Ma and Wang investigated the interesting class of Moebius deformable hypersurfaces, that is, the umbilic-free Euclidean hypersurfaces $f\colon M^n\to \mathbb{R}^{n+1}$ that admit non-trivial deformations preserving the Moebius metric. The classification of Moebius deformable hypersurfaces of dimension $n\geq 4$ stated in the aforementioned article, however, misses a large class of examples. In this article we complete that classification for $n\geq 5$.

It is clear that any conformal image of a (Euclidean) isoparametric hypersurface in S n +1 is a Möbius isoparametric hypersurface, but the converse is not true. In this paper we classify all Möbius isoparametric hypersurfaces in S n +1 with two distinct principal curvatures up to Möbius transformations. By using a theorem of Thorbergsson [1] we also show that the number of distinct principal curvatures of a compact Möbius isoparametric hypersurface embedded in S n +1 can take only the values 2, 3, 4, 6.

Abstract:Let $x:{\bf M}^m\rightarrow {\bf S}^{m+1}$ be a hypersurface in the (m+1)-dimensional unit sphere S m+1 without umbilics. Four basic invariants of x under the Möbius transformation group in S m+1 are a Riemannian metric g called Möbius metric, a 1-form Φ called Möbius form, a symmetric (0,2) tensor A called Blaschke tensor and symmetric (0,2) tensor B called Möbius second fundamental form. In this paper, we prove the following classification theorem: let $x:{\bf M}^m\rightarrow {\bf S}^{m+1}$ be a hypersurface, which satisfies (i) Φ≡0, (ii) A+λg+μB≡0 for some functions λ and μ, then λ and μ must be constant, and x is Möbius equivalent to either (i) a hypersurface with constant mean curvature and scalar curvature in S m+1 ; or (ii) the pre-image of a stereographic projection of a hypersurface with constant mean curvature and scalar curvature in the Euclidean space R m+1 ; or (iii) the image of the standard conformal map of a hypersurface with constant mean curvature and scalar curvature in the (m+1)-dimensional hyperbolic space H m+1 . This result shows that one can use Möbius differential geometry to unify the three different classes of hypersurface with constant mean curvature and scalar curvature in S m+1 , R m+1 and H m+1 .

Abstract:Let x : M-n -> Sn+1 be an immersed hypersurface without umbilical point, one can define the Mobius metric g on x which is invariant under the Mobius transformation group of Sn+1. The scalar curvature R with respect to g is called the MObius scalar curvature. In this paper, we study conformally flat hypersurfaces with constant Mains scalar curvature in Sn+1. First, we classify locally the conformally flat hypersurfaces of dimension n(>= 4) with constant Mobius scalar curvature under the Mobius transformation group of Sn+1. Second, we prove that if an umbilic-free conformally flat hypersurface of dimension n(>= 4) with constant Mobius scalar curvature R is compact, then R = (n - 1)(n - 2)r(2), 0 < r < 1, and the compact conformally flat hypersurface is Mobius equivalent to the torus S-1 (root 1 - r(2)) x Sn-1(r)hooked right arrow Sn+1. Abstract:Let M-n (n (3) 3) be an immersed hypersurface without umbilic points in the (n + 1)-dimensional unit sphere Sn+1. Then M-n is associated with a so-called Mobius form Phi and a Mobius metric g which are invariants of M-n under the Mobius transformation group of Sn+1. In this paper, we show that if Phi is identically zero and the Ricci curvature Ric(g) is pinched: (n - 1)(n - 2)/n(2) <= Ric(g) = (n(2) - 2n + 5)(n - 2)/[n(2)(n -1)], then it must be the case that n = 2p and M-n is Mobius equivalent to S-p(1/O2) x S-p(1/o2).

The classification of hypersurfaces in Sn+1 (n >= 2) with parallel Mobius second fundamental form has been accomplished in our previous paper [7]. The present result is a counterpart of the classification for Dupin hypersurfaces in E 5 up to Lie equivalence obtained by R. Niebergall, T. Cecil and G. R. Jensen.

Abstract:We classify simply connected compact Sasaki manifolds of dimension 2n+1 with positive transverse bisectional curvature. In particular, the Kähler cone corresponding to such manifolds must be bi-holomorphic to Cn+1\{0}. As an application we recover the theorem of Mori and Siu–Yau on the Frankel conjecture and extend it to certain orbifold version. The main idea is to deform such Sasaki manifolds to the standard round sphere in two steps, both fixing the complex structure on the Kähler cone. First, we deform the metric along the Sasaki–Ricci flow and obtain a limit Sasaki–Ricci soliton with positive transverse bisectional curvature. Then by varying the Reeb vector field which essentially decreases the volume functional, we deform the Sasaki–Ricci soliton to a Sasaki–Einstein metric with positive transverse bisectional curvature, i.e. a round sphere. The second deformation is only possible when one treats simultaneously regular and irregular Sasaki manifolds, even if the manifold one starts with is regular (quasi-regular), i.e. Kähler manifolds (orbifolds).
A Moebius inversion formula to discard tangled hyperbolic surfaces

Abstract:Recent literature on Weil-Petersson random hyperbolic surfaces has met a consistent obstacle: the necessity to condition the model, prohibiting certain rare geometric patterns (which we call tangles), such as short closed geodesics or embedded surfaces of short boundary length. The main result of this article is a Moebius inversion formula, allowing to integrate the indicator function of the set of tangle-free surfaces in a systematic, tractable way. It is inspired by a key step of Friedman's celebrated proof of Alon's conjecture. We further prove that our tangle-free hypothesis significantly reduces the number of local topological types of short geodesics, replacing the exponential proliferation observed on tangled surfaces by a polynomial growth.

Abstract:A hypersurface without umbilics in the n+1 dimensional Euclidean space is known to be determined by the Moebius metric and the Moebius second fundamental form up to a Moebius transformation when n>2. In this paper we consider Moebius rigidity for hypersurfaces and deformations of a hypersurface preserving the Moebius metric in the high dimensional case n>3. When the highest multiplicity of principal curvatures is less than n-2, the hypersurface is Moebius rigid. Deformable hypersurfaces and the possible deformations are also classified completely. In addition, we establish a Reduction Theorem characterizing the classical construction of cylinders, cones, and rotational hypersurfaces, which helps to find all the non-trivial deformable examples in our classification with wider application in the future.
