Abstract:In this paper, we investigate certain submodules in C*-algebras associated to effective étale groupoids. First, we show that a submodule generated by normalizers is a closure of the set of compactly supported continuous functions on some open set. As a corollary, we show that discrete group coactions on groupoid C*-algebras are induced by cocycles of étale groupoids if the fixed point algebras contain C*-subalgebras of continuous functions vanishing at infinity on the unit spaces. In the latter part, we prove the Galois correspondence result for discrete group coactions on groupoid C*-algebras.

Abstract:We characterise the strictly closed left invariant C*-subalgebras of the C*-algebra C_b(G) of bounded continuous functions on a locally compact group G. On the dual side, we characterise the strictly closed invariant C*-subalgebras of the multiplier algebra of the reduced group C*-algebra C*_r(G) when G is amenable. In both cases, these C*-subalgebras correspond to closed subgroups of G.

Then a subgroup A of G is said to be modular in G if (i) ⟨ X, A ∩ Z ⟩ =⟨ X, A ⟩∩ Z for all X ≤ G, Z ≤ G such that X ≤ Z , and (ii) ⟨ A, Y ∩ Z ⟩ =⟨ A, Y ⟩∩ Z for all Y ≤ G, Z ≤ G such that A ≤ Z . We obtain a description of finite groups in which modularity is a transitive relation.

Abstract:An R-module M is called a C4-module if, whenever A(1) and A(2) are submodules of M with M = A(1) circle plus A(2) and f : A(1) -> A(2) is an R-homomorphism with ker f subset of(circle plus) A(1), we have Imf subset of(circle plus) A(2). This notion is a non-trivial generalization of both the C3-modules and the square-free modules. Furthermore, a C4-module is called pseudo-continuous if it is also a CS-module. In this paper, we give a thorough study of the C4- and the pseudo-continuous modules.

Abstract:We previously showed that abstract Cuntz semigroups form a closed symmetric monoidal category. This automatically provides additional structure in the category, such as a composition and an external tensor product, for which we give concrete constructions in order to be used in applications. We further analyse the structure of not necessarily commutative Cu-semi-rings and we obtain, under mild conditions, a new characterization of solid Cu-semirings $R$ by the condition that $R\cong [\![ R,R ]\!]$.

On a generalization of Ulrich modules and its applications

Abstract:We study a modified version of the classical Ulrich modules, which we call $c$-Ulrich. Unlike the traditional setting, $c$-Ulrich modules always exist. We prove that these modules retain many of the essential properties and applications observed in the literature. Additionally, we reveal their significance as obstructions to Cohen-Macaulay properties of tensor products. Leveraging this insight, we show the utility of these modules in testing the finiteness of homological dimensions across various scenarios.

Abstract:For a commutative semilocal ring R, a remarkable property is that if P is a finitely generated projective R-module with constant rank, then P is free. In this paper, firstly, we extend the above result to the general case (not necessarily commutative). Secondly, we consider the Grothendieck groups of some subcategories of the category of finitely generated projective modules and obtain some exact sequences of K-groups. Finally, we give some applications of the above Grothendieck groups.

Abstract:A super-modular category is a unitary premodular category with Muger center equivalent to the symmetric unitary category of super-vector spaces. Super-modular categories are important alternatives to modular categories as any unitary premodular category is the equivariantization of a either a modular or super-modular category. Physically, super-modular categories describe universal properties of quasiparticles in fermionic topological phases of matter. In general one does not have a representation of the modular group SL(2, Z) associated to a super-modular category, but it is possible to obtain a representation of the (index 3) theta-subgroup: Gamma(theta) < SL(2, Z). We study the image of this representation and conjecture a super-modular analogue of the Ng-Schauenburg congruence subgroup theorem for modular categories, namely that the kernel of the Gamma(theta) representation is a congruence subgroup. We prove this conjecture for any super-modular category that is a subcategory of modular category of twice its dimension, i.e., admitting a minimal modular extension. Conjecturally, every super-modular category admits (precisely 16) minimal modular extensions and our conjecture would be a consequence.

Abstract:As a sequel to [Duan-Shu-Yao], we introduce here a category $\mathscr{LC}$ arising from the BGG category $\mathcal{O}$ defined in [Duan-Shu-Yao] for Lie algebras of polynomial vector fields. The objects of $\mathscr{LC}$ are so-called Lie-Cartan modules which admit both Lie-module structure and compatible $R$-module structure ($R$ denotes the corresponding polynomial ring). This terminology is natural, coming from affine connections in differential geometry through which the structure sheaves in topology and the vector fields in geometry are integrated for differential manifolds.

Abstract:We show that if $H \leq G$ is a closed amenable and cocompact subgroup of a unimodular locally compact group, then the reduced group C*-algebra of $G$ is not simple. Equivalently, there are unitary representations of $G$ that are weakly contained in the left-regular representation, but not weakly equivalent to it. We discuss applications of this result and pose the problem to construct non-discrete topologically simple groups with a cocompact amenable closed subgroup but without a Gelfand pair.

Abstract:In this paper we construct two groupoids from morphisms of groupoids, with one from a categorical viewpoint and the other from a geometric viewpoint. We show that for each pair of groupoids, the two kinds of groupoids of morphisms are equivalent. Then we study the automorphism groupoid of a groupoid.

Abstract:Let be a bi-complete duality pair. We consider when the relative Gorenstein modules with respect to such a duality pair coincide with the classical homological modules. As applications, we characterize (weak) global dimension via such a duality pair, characterize strongly CM-freeness of flat-typed -Gorenstein rings and obtain the compactly-generatedness of some relative derived categories. Applying the results into frequent duality pairs, our results unify the corresponding results for Gorenstein AC-modules and Ding modules.

We say that H is c -subnormal in G if there exists a subnormal subgroup T of G such that H ⁢ T = G and H ∩ T ⩽ H G , where H G is the maximal normal subgroup of G which is contained in H . In this paper, we investigate the structure of a finite group G under the assumption that all maximal subgroups are c -subnormal subgroups and present some new conditions for supersolvability.

Abstract:We consider a locally compact Hausdorff groupoid $G$ which is graded over a discrete group. Then the fibre over the identity is an open and closed subgroupoid $G_e$. We show that both the full and reduced C*-algebras of this subgroupoid embed isometrically into the full and reduced C*-algebras of $G$; this extends a theorem of Kaliszewski--Quigg--Raeburn from the étale to the non-étale setting. As an application we show that the full and reduced C*-algebras of $G$ are topologically graded in the sense of Exel, and we discuss the full and reduced C*-algebras of the associated bundles.

Abstract:A groupoid G is called an AG-groupoid if it satisfies the left invertive law: (ab)c = (cb)a. An AG-group G, is an AG-groupoid with left identity e \in G (that is, ea = a for all a \in G) and for all a \in G there exists a' \in G such that a.a' = a'.a = e. In this article we introduce the concept of AG-groupoids (mod n) and AG-group (mod n) using Vasantha's constructions [1]. This enables us to prove that AG-groupoids (mod n) and AG-groups (mod n) exist for every integer n \geq 3. We also give some nice characterizations of some classes of AG-groupoids in terms of AG-groupoids (mod n).

Abstract:Let $D \subseteq A$ be a quasi-Cartan pair of algebras. Then there exists a unique discrete groupoid twist $\Sigma \to G$ whose twisted Steinberg algebra is isomorphic to $A$ in a way that preserves $D$. In this paper, we show there is a lattice isomorphism between wide open subgroupoids of $G$ and subalgebras $C$ such that $D\subseteq C\subseteq A$ and $D \subseteq C$ is a quasi-Cartan pair. We also characterise which algebraic diagonal/algebraic Cartan/quasi-Cartan pairs have the property that every subalgebra $C$ with $D\subseteq C\subseteq A$ has $D \subseteq C$ a diagonal/Cartan/quasi-Cartan pair. In the diagonal case, when the coefficient ring is a field, it is all of them. Beyond that, only pairs that are close to being diagonal have this property. We then apply our techniques to C*-algebraic inclusions and give a complete characterization of which Cartan pairs $D \subseteq A$ have the property that every C*-subalgebra $C$ with $D\subseteq C\subseteq A$ has $D \subseteq C$ a Cartan pair.

Abstract:The authors introduce and investigate the 𝒯_C -Gorenstein projective, ℒ_C -Gorenstein injective and ℋ_C -Gorenstein flat modules with respect to a semidualizing module C which shares the common properties with the Gorenstein projective, injective and flat modules, respectively. The authors prove that the classes of all the 𝒯_C -Gorenstein projective or the ℋ_C -Gorenstein flat modules are exactly those Gorenstein projective or flat modules which are in the Auslander class with respect to C , respectively, and the classes of all the ℒ_C -Gorenstein injective modules are exactly those Gorenstein injective modules which are in the Bass class, so the authors get the relations between the Gorenstein projective, injective or flat modules and the C -Gorenstein projective, injective or flat modules. Moreover, the authors consider the 𝒯_C ( R )-projective and ℒ_C ( R )-injective dimensions and 𝒯_C ( R )-precovers and ℒ_C ( R )-preenvelopes. Finally, the authors study the ℋ_C -Gorenstein flat modules and extend the Foxby equivalences.
