Abstract:In this paper, we investigate positive solutions of the degenerate parabolic equation not in divergence form: ut=upΔu+auq−bur, subject to the null Dirichlet boundary condition. We at first discuss the existence and nonexistence of global solutions to the problem, and then study the large time behavior for the global solutions. When the positive source dominates the model, we prove that the global solutions uniformly tend to the positive steady state of the problem as t→∞. In particular, we establish the uniform asymptotic profiles for the decay solutions when the problem is governed by the nonlinear diffusion or absorption.

Abstract:We consider a one-dimensional semilinear parabolic equation with exponential gradient source and provide a complete classification of large time behavior of the classical solutions: either the space derivative of the solution blows up in finite time with the solution itself remaining bounded or the solution is global and converges in C-1 norm to the unique steady state. The main difficulty is to prove C-1 boundedness of all global solutions. To do so, we explicitly compute a nontrivial Lyapunov's functional by carrying out the method of Zelenyak.

Abstract:In this paper we study the existence, multiplicity and concentration behaviour of ground states for a class of quasilinear Schrodinger equations with critical growth. By using a change of variables, the quasilinear equations are reduced to a semilinear one, whose associated functionals are well defined in the usual Sobolev space and satisfy the geometric conditions of the mountain pass theorem. We relate the number of positive solutions with the topology of the set where the potential attains its minimum value. The proofs are based on the Ljusternik-Schnirelmann theory and variational methods.

Abstract:In this paper, we have two folds: first, we are concerned with the existence and asymptotic estimates of global solutions and blowup of semilinear heat equation of the following form:{u(t) - Deltau = u(p), (x, t) is an element of Omega x (0, T),{u(x, t) = 0, (x, t) is an element of partial derivative Omega x (0, T),{u(x, 0) = u(0)(x), u(0)(x) greater than or equal to 0, u(0)(x) not equivalent to 0,with lower-energy initial value, and using Moser-type iteration it is then proved that the global H-0(1)(Omega) solutions with lower-energy initial value are classical global solutions for all t greater than or equal to t(0) > (.) Here Omega is a bounded domain in R-N (N greater than or equal to 3), and p = 2* - 1 = (N+2)/(N-2) 2* is the critical Sobolev exponent. The second is to consider the asymptotic behavior of any global solutions that may possess high-energy initial value, and apply the idea to describe exactly the asymptotic profile of the unbounded, global solution, which was first obtained by Ni et al.

Abstract:In this paper, by means of the energy method, we first study the existence and asymptotic estimates of global solution of quasilinear parabolic equations involving p-laplacian (p > 2) and critical Sobolev exponent and lower energy initial value in a bounded domain in R-N(N greater than or equal to 3), and also study the sufficient conditions of finite time blowup of local solution by the classical concave method. Finally, we study the asymptotic behavior of any global solutions u(x, t; u(0)) which may possess high energy initial value function u(0)(x). We can prove that there exists a time subsequence {t(n)} such that the asymptotic behavior of u(x, t(n); u(0)) as t(n) --> infinity is similar to the Palais-Smale sequence of stationary equation of the above parabolic problem.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the following semilinear elliptic equations of the formwhere ε is a small positive parameter, and where f and g denote superlinear and subcritical nonlinearity. Suppose that b(x) has at least one maximum. We prove that the system has a ground-state solution (ψε, φε) for all sufficiently small ε > 0. Moreover, we show that (ψε, φε) converges to the ground-state solution of the associated limit problem and concentrates to a maxima point of b(x) in certain sense, as ε → 0. Furthermore, we obtain sufficient conditions for nonexistence of ground-state solutions.

Abstract:We consider the nonlinear elliptic–parabolic boundary value problem involving the Dirichlet-to-Neumann operator of p-Laplace type at the critical Sobolev exponent. We first obtain the existence and asymptotic estimates of the global solution, and the sufficient conditions of finite time blowup of the solution by using the energy method. Second, we improve the regularity of solution by Moser-type iteration. Finally, we analyze the long-time asymptotic behavior of the global solution. Moreover, with the help of the concentration compactness principle, we present a precise description of the concentration phenomenon of the solution in the forward time infinity.

We give some conditions for this problem which guarantee global existence of solutions as well as blow up in finite time of all nontrivial solutions. The results depend on the behavior of variable coefficients as $t \to \infty.$

Using Moser-type iteration, we characterize the asymptotic behavior of solutions at singular points. Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the large time behaviour of solutions to the exterior problems of a class of quasilinear parabolic equations with convection terms. We establish the critical Fujita exponents pc and blow-up theorems of the Fujita type for both homogeneous Neumann and Dirichlet problems. In particular, it is shown that the critical p = pc belongs to the blow-up case under any nontrivial initial data. An interesting phenomenon is exploited that the critical Fujita exponent pc could even be infinite for the considered model because of the nonlinear convection.

Abstract:Abstract In this paper, the initial boundary value problem for a nonlocal semilinear pseudo-parabolic equation is investigated, which was introduced to model phenomena in population dynamics and biological sciences where the total mass of a chemical or an organism is conserved. The existence, uniqueness and asymptotic behavior of the global solution and the blowup phenomena of solution with subcritical initial energy are established. Then these results are extended parallelly to the critical initial energy. Further the blowup phenomena of solution with supercritical initial energy is proved, but the existence, uniqueness and asymptotic behavior of the global solution with supercritical initial energy are still open.

Under a local condition imposed on the potential, we relate the number of positive solutions with the topology of the set where the potential attains its minimum values. In the proofs we apply Szulkin and Weth's generalized Nehari manifold methods, penalization techniques and Ljusternik–Schnirelmann theory.

Abstract:In this paper, we use the self-similar transformation and the modified potential well method to study the long time behaviors of solutions to the classical semilinear parabolic equation associated with critical Sobolev exponent in R N . Global existence and finite time blowup of solutions are proved when the initial energy is in three cases. When the initial energy is low or critical, we not only give a threshold result for the global existence and blowup of solutions, but also obtain the decay rate of the L 2 norm for global solutions. When the initial energy is high, sufficient conditions for the global existence and blowup of solutions are also provided. We extend the recent results which were obtained in [R. Ikehata, M. Ishiwata, T. Suzuki, Ann. Inst. H. Poincaré Anal. Non Linéaire 27(2010), No. 3, 877–900].

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the following nonlocal parabolic equation \begin{equation*} u_{t}-\Delta u=\left( \int_{\Omega}\frac{|u(y,t)|^{2^{\ast}_{\mu}}}{|x-y|^{\mu}}dy\right) |u|^{2^{\ast}_{\mu}-2}u,\ \text{in}\ \Omega\times(0,\infty), \end{equation*} where $\Omega$ is a bounded domain in $\mathbb{R}^{N}$, $0<\mu<N$ and $2^{\ast}_{\mu}=(2N-\mu)/(N-2)$ denotes the critical exponent in the sense of the Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality. We first introduce the stable and unstable sets for the equation and prove that the problem has a potential well structure. Next, we investigate the global asymptotic behavior of the solutions. In particular, we study the behavior of the global solutions that intersect neither with the stable set nor the unstable set. Finally, we prove that global solutions have $L^{\infty}$-uniform bound under some natural conditions.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the concentration of positive ground states solutions for a modified Schrödinger equation -ε ^2 u+V(x)u-ε ^2 (u^2)u=K(x)|u|^p-2u+|u|^22^*-2u, in ℝ^N, where 40 is a parameter and 2^*:=2N/N-2(N≥ 3) is the critical Sobolev exponent. We prove the existence of a positive ground state solution v_ε and ε sufficiently small under some suitable conditions on the nonnegative functions V ( x ) and K ( x ). Moreover, v_ε concentrates around a global minimum point of V as ε→ 0 . The proof of the main result is based on minimax theorems and concentration compact theory.

Abstract:. In this paper, we study a class of Dirichlet-to-Neumann operator heat flow equations with critical growth. First at low initial energy, we use the modified potential well method to prove the global existence, finite time blowup and asymptotic behavior of solutions. Secondly, we wish to generalize these conclusions to the case where the initial energy is critical and supercritical. However, since the equation under study is the critical growth, we can only draw the following conclusions at present. When the initial energy is critical, we obtain the global existence and blow-up of solutions. When the initial energy is high, we give sufficient conditions for the global existence and blow-up of solutions. In this paper we improve the conclusions of [8].

Abstract:We study the concentration and multiplicity of weak solutions to the Kirchhoff type equation with critical Sobolev growth \[\left\{\begin{gathered} - \Bigl({\varepsilon ^2}a + \varepsilon b\int_{\R^3} {{{\left| {\nabla u} \right|}^2}} \Bigr)\Delta u + V(z)u = f(u) + {u^5}{\text{in}}{\R^3}, \hfill u \in {H^1}({\R^3}),{\text{}}u > 0{\text{in}}{\R^3}, \hfill \\ \end{gathered} \right.\] where $\varepsilon $ is a small positive parameter and $a,b > 0$ are constants, $f \in {C^1}({\R^ +},\R)$ is subcritical, $V:{\R^3} \to \R$ is a locally Hölder continuous function. We first prove that for ${\varepsilon_0} > 0$ sufficiently small, the above problem has a weak solution ${u_\varepsilon}$ with exponential decay at infinity. Moreover, ${u_\varepsilon}$ concentrates around a local minimum point of $V$ in $\Lambda $ as $\varepsilon \to 0$. With minimax theorems and Ljusternik-Schnirelmann theory, we also obtain multiple solutions by employing the topology construct of the set where the potential $V\left(z \right)$ attains its minimum.

Abstract:This article studies the existence and nonexistence of global solutions to the initial boundary value problems for semilinear wave and heat equation, and for Cauchy problem of nonlinear Schrodinger equation. This is done under three possible initial energy levels, except the NLS as it does not have comparison principle. The most important feature in this article is a new hypothesis on the nonlinear source terms which can include at least eight important and popular power-type nonlinearities as special cases. This article also finds some kinds of divisions for the initial data to guarantee the global existence or finite time blowup of the solution of the above three problems.
