Abstract:国际医疗旅游是一项新兴产业,具有相当大的发展潜力。亚洲正在成为医疗旅游的主要目的地,而国内尚处于起步阶段。通过国内外准入制度对比和现有经验借鉴,认为应从医疗部门设置、医护人员、医疗技术、医用设备、非医疗服务等五个维度构建总体水平高于现状的准入制度,并提出合理政策建议,以此保障国内国际医疗旅游服务质量,为推动该产业发展打下制度基础。

Abstract:分析和研究部分亚洲国家和中国台湾地区在推动国际医疗旅游服务方面的相关政策和国内问卷调查的结果。研究提示,中国若能抓住国际医疗旅游快速增长的机遇,大力发展国际医疗旅游服务,对优化国内产业结构,带动大健康、大卫生、大医疗产业的发展,解决社会就业等均有重大意义。为此,建议在中国大力扩展国际医疗旅游服务市场,政府相关部门应及时加强相关顶层制度建设,挖掘、整合各种医疗资源,牵头整合现有行政管理部门、研究机构和医疗机构,建立起系统高效的管理体制和运行机制,并尽快在全国范围内开展试点工作,以期在条件成熟时大力推广,广泛形成中国特色的国际医疗服务体系。

An Integrative Review of Patients' Experience in the Medical Tourism

Abstract:Medical tourism has emerged as an industry due to the constantly improved information technology and decreasing cost for transportation. Evidence on how medical tourists develop their medical travel and their experience keeps growing. This article aims to provide an integrative review to understand medical tourism from the patients' perspective. PRISMA procedures were followed. All the literature was published from January 1, 2009, to May 4, 2019, in peer-reviewed journals in CINAHL and MEDLINE/PubMed. Johns Hopkins Nursing evidence level and quality guide were used to evaluate evidence level. Twenty-one studies including 8 quantitative, 10 qualitative, and 3 mix-method studies were reviewed. Low cost, short waiting list, quality, and procedures available were the motivators to treatment abroad. The Internet, former tourists' testimonial, and physician and facilitators' advice were the predominant resources consulted. Perceived value of medical quality directly affected patients' overall satisfaction. Our integrative review has led to the identification of many factors related to medical tourist's experience. We suggest further empirical researches on (1) the patients' decision-making process of motivators and barriers, (2) the factors related to patients' experience on the health care quality, and (3) the strategies to ensure the continuity of care.

Abstract:Good medical care has long been a top priority in health tourism to keep the flow of visitors coming for medical treatment. Medical tourism encompasses a range of treatments, from basic check-ups to surgical operations. For its friendly character and high quality of service, China has earned a reputation as one of Asia's top destinations for health tourism. Along with India and Taiwan, Japan, Thailand, and South Korea are China's top tourism destinations. Considering the above fact, this study aims to examine the influence of nutritional knowledge, perceived medical quality, and trust in physiologists on revisiting the intention of medical tourists in China. This study is cross-sectional and follows a quantitative approach. The researchers used questionnaires as a survey tool to obtain information from the respondents. The respondents of this chosen international tourists in China who come for medical treatment purposes. A systematic random sampling technique was used to select the respondents, and 315 usable responses were collected from the respondents and proceeded with further analysis. The study conducted structural equation modeling using Smart PLS version 3. The results found that nutritional knowledge, perceived medical quality, and trust in physiologists significantly influence the revisit intention of medical tourists in China.

Abstract:The evaluation index system is constructed based on the connotation and characteristics of health tourism. Using the entropy method, Thiel index, exploratory spatial data analysis method, spatial Markov chain and spatial econometric model, research is carried out around the development index, difference status, spatial-temporal pattern, dynamic evolution and influencing factors of health tourism. The following results were drawn: (1) The development index of health tourism in China is low, but the development speed is fast. The inter-regional development index shows an eastern China > central China > western China pattern, and the development speed exhibits a western China > central China > eastern China situation. (2) In the overall difference in China's health tourism development, the intra-regional difference is consistently higher than the inter-regional difference. Among the three major regions, the overall difference between eastern China and western China is always higher than that of central China. (3) The development of health tourism in China is positively correlated in the global space, with some local spatial clustering. (4) The dynamic evolution of health tourism development in China shows part of the "Matthew effect" characteristics, with an obvious spatial spillover effect. (5) Various influencing factors produced widely varying direct, indirect and total effects on health tourism development in China, eastern China, central China and western China. Finally, based on the results of the above empirical analysis, policy recommendations to promote the development of health tourism in China are proposed.

The health tourism medical consumption experience scale proposed in this study can comprehensively illustrate the relationship between a tourist’s experience, experience value, and post-experience behavior. This provides medical organizations with a scale to measure and compare each tourist’s experience and degree of satisfaction with regards to their medical and cosmetology services.

Abstract:Tourism is a globalized industry. Health, wellness and medical tourism are recognized as one of the most developed and thriving in the tourism industry. The purpose of this study is to explore the key factors of medical tourism and discuss its relation with tourism attraction and re-visit intention. The results reveal that: (1) The key criteria are doctor’s expertise and reputation, health evaluation, international certified doctors and staffs, the safety of medication quality, quality of medical treatment, high healthcare quality, service orientation of medical staff, advanced medical treatment, availability of medications, on-site pharmacy and prescription assistance, waiting time for medical treatment from time to first contact to real treatment, quality of required treatment, and hospital contact information. (2) The key criteria have a significant positive influence on tourism attraction and re-visit intention. (3) Tourism attraction has no influence on re-visit intention.
Diversified demand for health tourism matters: From a perspective of the intra-industry trade

Abstract:Previous studies on health tourism were limited to a small range of topics related to medical tourism. At present, the concept of health tourism has become profound because medical care has been altered from "disease-centered" to "health-centered". The main purpose of this study is to identify the key factors influencing the development of health tourism in China. To this end, in the first stage, an intra-industry trade theory was introduced and quantitative methods were applied to discover the important factors. In the second stage, multiple sources, including empirical studies, official data, research reports, and notably field investigations and case studies were incorporated to take in-depth discussions. The results indicated the foremost factors affecting the health tourism trade were total health expenditure per capita and the number of domestic health consumers. Notably, health tourism was substantially determined by the "willingness to spend on health" of domestic health consumers. In addition, Chinese health tourists were more likely to positively accept health tourism services in China. An important conclusion is that China should diversify health tourism offerings for different consumer groups. Once diversified products for health tourism are provided, the number of health tourism consumers will soar accordingly, which thus contributes to forming economies of scale, lowering the average costs of health treatment, increasing health tourism profit, and stimulating economic development.

Through this analysis, we can find the development of health industry needs the support of policy. It should conform to national reality and stress the key point while making integrated development, focus on advocacy to appeal the whole society to participate; focus on innovation to enhance research capacity;focus on the social investment to achieve diversified development. Assessing the Risks of China's Medical Tourism from the Legal Perspective

Abstract:While China's medical tourism industry is increasingly standardized and institutionalized, the relevant research assessing its legal risks is still absent. This paper aims to evaluate the risks of medical tourism from the legal perspective by exploring the conflict between the developing new practice and the existing legal system, summarizing the legal risks in medical tourism, and proposing measures and suggestions to mitigate such risks. The empirical research method is employed to review the legal risks in Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone, which is the pioneering project of China's development within the medical tourism industry. These research methods include collecting the latest medical tourism policies and regulations, judicial decisions, and on-the-spot investigation of the Pilot Zone. It is found that the legal risks in medical tourism activities are mainly concentrated in the administrative, civil and litigious legal relations, and concern four major subjects which are regulators, medical operators, tourism operators and consumers. For regulators, their administrative supervision has not been well in place before and during medical tourism activities, and there remain legal gaps in regulation. In terms of the protection of consumers' substantive rights, service providers and operators may evade their responsibilities by exploring the vacuum area during the transition from the old laws to the new ones, and the conflicting provisions exist between the special laws and general ones. Concerning the protection of consumers' litigation rights, there are many obstacles for consumers to safeguard their interests through litigation in a foreign land. In this paper, medical tourism activities are identified among four legal subjects and involving three types of legal risks, in the hope to help improve the overall understanding of medical tourism from the legal perspective, and put forward targeted suggestions on the potential legal risks.

Abstract:To systematically understand the evolution of health tourism in China, the present study visually analyzes the theme evolution and frontiers of Chinese health tourism research on the basis of the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) database through bibliometric analysis. The findings reflect the existence of diverse clustering themes in health tourism research, and the formation time of each theme is different. The findings also indicate that the change in the theme is led by government policy. Theoretically, the findings of the present study can, on the one hand, contribute to the health tourism literature by comprehensively exploring and summarizing the themes and topics of health tourism development in China since its appearance (i.e., 1981), and, on the other hand, provide references for future health tourism exploration directions. Findings of the present study can provide references for effective future development directions of the health tourism industry.

Abstract:Given the prospects for the development of the Chinese tourism market, we consider it appropriate to thoroughly study the impact of Chinese conditions on the global tourism industry and China's international tourism positioning. Literary analysis of Chinese tourism research has shown a growing interest in this issue since the 2010s. Most scholars, tourism practitioners, government officials and professionals in tourism agencies agree that the Chinese tourism market has mega potential and high development dynamics. However, while scientific reviews of the past decade have focused exclusively on researching the travel geography of Chinese travelers and the dynamics of Chinese outbound tourism, modern work provides a deep understanding of Chinese tourists' behavior and experiences and highlights negative aspects of Chinese mass tourism. In this article, the author specifies China's place in the global tourism market, using quantitative data and tourism indices. In particular, after ranking the world countries on key quantitative indicators of the level of development of the tourism industry (number of tourists, number of international tourist arrivals, number of revenues from tourism), China's strong position was revealed (3rd, 4th and 11th respectively).Graphs of changes in the number of international tourist arrivals and cash inflows from tourism showed a positive trend. In particular, in 2019 a record was reached among the number of tourists and the number of tourist arrivals in China for the entire research period. At the same time, it should be noted that the Covid-19 pandemic has not bypassed China's tourism sector and in 2020 the number of international tourist arrivals decreased fivefold (this is the lowest figure for the country in the history of collecting international tourism statistics, since 1995). revenues from international tourists reached 14.2 billion dollars. (less than ever in the last 20 years). The prospects of the Chinese market and optimistic dynamics of its development were evidenced by the highest rating indices in the field of tourism and travel − Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Index (2019) and Travel & Tourism Development Index (2021), where China ranked 13th and 12th respectively. Thus, quantitative indicators and integrated indices have confirmed China's important position in the tourism market and allow us to predict their stable strengthening and China's short-term world leadership in the tourism sector.

Abstract:Medical tourism is becoming an increasingly important component of the international tourism industry, and Chinese medical tourists make up a big percentage of this growing tourism market segment. Most previous studies on Chinese medical tourism have focused on Chinese outbound medical tourism, but there has little research undertaken as yet, on foreign tourists’ perception towards traditional Chinese medical tourism. Specifically, most of the previous studies utilized the measurement scale of destination image in medical tourism research, resulting in a limited representation of the nature of medical tourism. This study aims to examine the relationship between attitude, subjective norm (SN), perceived behavioural control (PBC), familiarity, perceived ease of visa application (PEVA) and intention toward traditional Chinese medical tourism. A quantitative approach was used, adopting a survey methodology involving 344 foreigners which was followed by subsequent empirical testing of the postulated hypotheses. The results suggested that attitude, PBC, familiarity and PEVA positively influence intention. PEVA positively influences attitude, PBC and intention respectively. Results also demonstrated that familiarity influenced attitude and PBC, and SN positively influenced familiarity. This study expands the existing knowledge on how PEVA and familiarity influenced visitation in medical tourism literature which can benefit key stakeholders in the tourism industry.

This article starts from the concept and characteristics of digital technology, analyzes their application models and cases in health and wellness tourism, explores their impact mechanism and effect evaluation on the experience of health and wellness tourism, and proposes the development trend and suggestions of digital technology in health and wellness tourism.

Abstract:Alongside the rapid development of China's tourism sector, the continuous increase in the number of academic articles and research findings related to tourism in China has expanded the related research topics. Using a visual exploration of keywords and Delphi surveys, this paper systematically summarizes the progress in tourism research in China. The findings show that the research topics of national parks, rural revitalization, virtual tourism, the tourism economy and all-for-one tourism were hotspots in Chinese tourism filed over the past decade. Research methodologies have evolved from qualitative concept clarification to combining qualitative and quantitative approaches. In the future, Chinese tourism research should be explored further to the unique theoretical underpinnings of tourism in China; innovative research should be fostered to achieve theoretical originality; and collaborations between academia and the tourism industry should be facilitated to enhance the practical implications of academic findings. The aforementioned research bottlenecks and corresponding measures, and research vision and prospects indicated in the paper can guide future research, and let Western scholars know the hotspots and future trends of tourism research from the Eastern perspective.

Abstract:As a strategic pillar of the Chinese economy, high-quality development of the tourism industry has become a pressing demand in the contemporary era. Following the new developmental concept advocated by the Chinese government, this study has constructed a comprehensive set of indicators for high-quality tourism development. A thorough spatial analysis of the developmental quality of China's provincial tourism industry from 2000 to 2021, as well as the developmental conditions of various subsystems, was conducted by employing the entropy–value–TOPSIS method, Dagum Gini coefficient, and ESTDA approach. The research has found that (1) the overall quality of China's tourism industry has significantly improved, (2) the determinants of differences in tourism-development quality in China transitioned from endowment advantages to innovation capabilities. (3) positive spatial-agglomeration effects are evident in the developmental landscape of China's tourism industry, (4) the quality of regional tourism development is closely related to the economic development of urban agglomerations, (5) China's tourism industry demonstrates resilience and capacity for restructuring in the post-pandemic era.
