Abstract:Nanocrystalline tungsten oxide doped titanium dioxide (WOx-TiO2) powders were prepared by TiCl4 hydrolysis and characterized by XRD, XPS, UV-Vis absorption spectra and TEM. Results showed that WO, not only hindered the growth of TiO2 particles but also greatly increased the transformation temperature (>800 degrees C) from anatase to rutile during sintering; the dominant fraction of tungsten oxides was non-stoichiometric tungsten oxide (WxOy) with Wn+ (4<n<6), which could easily substitute Ti4+ in the lattice of TiO2. The light absorption band of TiO2 changed from the near UV to the visible light range (2.68 eV in 1.0 %WOx-TiO2) because of the tungsten impurity energy level induced by WxTi1-xO2. The photocatalysis experiments demonstrated that the MB in aqueous solution was successfully degraded within 1h using WOx-TiO2 with an optimal WOx dosage of 1% under visible light irradiation.

Abstract:Ag quantum dots (Ag QDs) sensitized TiO2 nanorod arrays (NRAs)/ZnO nanoparticles (NPs) heterojunctions were fabricated by a three-step method and investigated as photocatalysts. Experimental results showed that the novel material exhibited enhanced optical properties and a high degradation rate (for methyl orange) under UV light (109% compared to bare TiO2 NRAs). The high rate was attributed to an increase in the separation of electrons-holes induced by the introduction of the ZnO NPs and the localized surface plasmon resonance (SPR) of Ag QDs. The degradation mechanism was elucidated based on the band structure. It is suggested that the TiO2/ZnO/Ag nanostructure developed in our work can provide a new platform for the design of highly efficient photocatalysts.

Abstract:A facile and convenient method has been developed to prepare N-doped TiO2 visible light nanocatalysts, which is performed by a solid-state calcination of one-dimensional titanate nanotubes with an inorganic ammonium salt (NH4Cl). The ion-exchange reaction between layered nanotubes and NH4Cl contributes to the phase transition to crystalline TiO2 combined with N doping. X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy are carried out to study the phase evolution, compositions, and morphologies of obtained samples. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy reveals that the N dopant in TiO2 is assigned to the interstitial NHx species. Both the phase transition and N doping are further confirmed by UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectra. All N-doped TiO2 materials exhibit significantly higher visible light activities than that of the parent nanotubes for degrading rhodamine B. In addition, the N-doped TiO2 nanocatalyst holds a strong stability and durability for the removal of organic pollutions.

Abstract:The pure and WO3-doped TiO2 nanoparticles photocatalyst was prepared by chemical precipitation,in which titanium tetrachloride was used as Ti-precursor,ammonia as precipitant and sodium tungstate as doping donor.The samples was characterized by XRD and FTIR.The photocatalytic activity was evaluated by the photocatalytic decomposition of phenol under 20 W UV light irradiation,The Effects of calcinated temperature and WO3-doped concentration on the activity was investigated.The results showed that WO3 doping retards the growth of grain size.The photocatalytic activity of pure TiO2 is optital when the sample was calcined at 450℃,The WO3-TiO2 photocatalysts show better photocatalytic activity.The optimum concentration of WO3 is 1%(mole fracition).

Abstract:The V-doped TiO2 nanoparticles were successfully prepared by sol-gel method and characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV-vis spectroscopy and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy respectively. It is found that doping V can shift the absorption edge to the visible light region and decrease the recombination of photo-induced electron-hole pairs. Then the photo-absorption and photocatalytic activity were greatly improved. The optimal doping concentration is 0.5% due to synergetic effect of the recombination of electron-hole pairs and adsorption of dyes molecules at the surface of samples.

The results demonstrate that the oxygen vacancies mainly exist at the surface of TiO(2)and the crystalline structure of TiO(2)almost keeps no change during annealing under the different oxygen pressures at 500 degrees C. The exact quantity and distribution of the oxygen vacancies in TiO(2)nanoparticles were obtained. The surface oxygen vacancies on TiO(2)significantly enhance photocatalytic activity for Rhodamine B degradation and hydrogen generation. The formation of oxygen vacancies at the TiO(2)surfaces is responsible for engineering the band gap of TiO(2)and tailoring their electronic structures, and promoting light absorption and enhancement photocatalysis. This work could provide new insights into the understanding of the photocatalytic activity enhancement by the surface oxygen vacancies.
Preparation and Visible Light Photocatalytic Activity of Nitrogen-doped Nano-TiO_2 Powders

Abstract:N-doped nano-TiO2(anatase) powders were prepared by calcining titania gel precursor at different temperatures.The gel precursor was obtained by improved sol-gel method using tetrabutyl titanate and urea as source.The samples were characterized and analyzed by XRD,XPS and UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy(DRS).The results show that nitrogen element is successfully introduced to titania crystal lattice,and the nitrogen content decreases with the increase in calcination temperature and time.UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy(DRS) results indicate that all samples have a red shift,and the absorption band of the sample calcined at 400℃ for an hour shifted up to 700nm.The photodegradation of methylene blue shows that N-doped nano-TiO2 powders have high visible-light photocatalytic properties.

Abstract:The nanosize-TiO2 powder, with high photocatalysis for methyl-orange under visible light was synthesized by hydrothermal process using acetone-prydine-ethanol and Ti(OBU)(4) as a precursor. The prepared powder was characterized by XRD,TEM and DTA-TG. Its visible light photocatalysis was analyzed by comparing with P25 TiO2 powder as well as that prepared through classic sol-gel route. Obvious differences of the absorption states on their surfaces were shown among different powders. The photocatalysis performance under visible light was improved with the decrease of surface absorbed materials after heat treatment under 265 degrees C. It was suggested that the high photoeatalysis performance of the nanosize TiO2 synthe sized in the cetone-prydine-ethand solvent was related to the surface absorbed material.

Abstract:TiO2-xNx(0x1) thin films are fabricated in NH3 atmosphere via TiO2 annealing which is prepared by sol-gel method.The TiO2 thin films were prepared at 180,400 and 500℃,and then annealed in NH3 atmosphere at 400,500 and 600℃ separately.In order to evaluate the utilization ratio of the TiO2-xNx thin films,the photocatalysed degradation of the samples by filtering the visible light that wavelength less than 450nm.With the increasing concentration of N,the photocatalysis efficiency of the samples increases firstly and then decreases.It was found that the optimal photocatalysed properties were obtained by presimtering at 500℃ and annealing at 600℃ in NH3 while the degradation rate is 4.3 percent,and shown as ultra-hydrophilic material in which O is not replace with N and angle of contact is 0.

Abstract:As a typical photocatalyst,nano-titania has been attracting much attention.In this paper,some methodology to realize a visible light response of TiO2 including noble metal depositing,semiconductor coupling,transition-metal or nonmetal element doping,surface dye sensitization are reviewed,and doping is the most commonly used method to improve the TiO2 photocatalysis activity.Moreover,organic functional surface modification of TiO2 particle and other innovation methods are also introduced.In the end,the research foreground on nanotitania based photocatalytic materials is prospected.It's pointed out that the next stage will be focus on the study of organic-inorganic dual-functionalized doping TiO2 and its application on life science.

Abstract:Nitrogen doped visible-light-driven TiO 2 photocatalyst was successfully synthesized by hydrothermal method. The structure, morphology and spectral properties of the photocatalyst were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope(SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectra (DRS). The XRD results showed that nitrogen doping inhibited the increase of crystallite size. XPS spectroscopy indicated nitrogen dopants were incorporated into TiO 2 lattice. A shift of the absorption edge to the lower energy were observed using DRS spectroscopy. The photocatalytic activities of the samples were investigated by degradation of methyl orange(MO) under visible light irradiation. Using terephthalic acid as hydroxyl radicals(·OH) capturer, the quantity of ·OH formed in the photocatalytic reaction system were determined by fluorescence technique. It was found that all nitrogen doped samples showed higher photocatalytic activities than pure TiO 2 sample. Which could be explained by the reason: the smaller crystallite size of nitrogen doped TiO 2 sample improved the photogenerated charge separation and enhanced the efficiency of interfacial charge-transfer process; nitrogen doping narrowed the band gap of TiO 2 and extended the absorption to visible light region. The results indicated that the photocatalytic performance of the photocatalyst increased with the molar ratio of N to Ti; the variation of the formation rate of ·OH was consistent with the photocatalytic activity, namely the greater formation rate of ·OH, the higher photocatalytic activity of sample.

Abstract:White TiO2 (W-TiO2), gray TiO2 (G-TiO2) and black TiO2 (B-TiO2) have been prepared through simple annealing process in different atmospheres. The oxygen vacancy content in the TiO2 samples and the relationship between oxygen vacancy and photocatalytic performance have been studied by comprehensive analyses. The XRD peaks slightly move to a low angle and the Raman strongest peak shifts positively owing to oxygen vacancy and Ti3+. The energy bandgap of G-TiO2 and B-TiO2 is tuned from 3.10 to 3.02 and 1.99 eV. The content of oxygen vacancy is 1%, 4.8% and 7.8% for W-TiO2, G-TiO2 and B-TiO2, respectively. The efficiency of NO removal is stable at 34%, 38% and 45%, and the decomposition rate of Rhodamine B under visible light is 75%, 83% and 89% for W-TiO2, G-TiO2 and B-TiO2, respectively. The results are significant for the design of high-performance photocatalytic materials in the field of solar energy conversion.

Abstract:A series of nitrogen-doped TiO2 nanostructured photocatalysts were synthesized by oxidizing titanium nitride at different temperatures under ambient condition. The as-prepared samples were systematically characterized by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) absorption spectra. The photocatalytic activity for hydrogen evolution of the as-prepared samples was evaluated under UV-Vis light irradiation. XPS investigations confirmed the presence of nitrogen in TiO2 lattice in the chemical environment of O-Ti-N. The UV-Vis absorption spectra results showed that the absorption edge was extended into visible light region. Higher photocatalytic activity than that of commercial titanium dioxide - P25 was observed over the as-prepared nitrogen-doped TiO2 under UV-Vis light illumination.

Abstract:Nitrogen-doped modified TiO2 films Were prepared through sol-gel method. The thickness, surface microstructure and composition were analyzed by nano indenter, scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The photocatalytic activity of N-doped TiO2 films was researched through the degradation experiment of methylene blue under UV light. Results showed that nitrogen ions are doped into TiO2 films by adding urea and they are between TiO2 crystal lattices and mainly in interstitial configuration and substitution configuration. The films are very flat with the thickness of between 50-200 nm. Nitrogen ions doping improves the photocatalytic activity of TiO2 films. When N/Ti=0.015 (atom ratio) in TiO2 Films, it takes single N-doped TiO2 film 2.5 h to decompose the methylene blue solution.

Abstract:TiO2 nanotube arrays were fabricated by electrochemical anodic oxidation method,then ZnO nanoparticles were deposited on the surface of TiO2 nanotube by optical chemical deposition technique to get ZnO/TiO2 nanocomposites.Samples were characterized by Raman and XRD spectroscopies,and SEM.The photoelectrochemical performance of the samples was estimated by testing their open circuit photo-potential vs time(OCPT) and photocurrent vs time(I-t).It was found that the deposition of ZnO nanoparticle didn′t change the crystalline phase of TiO2;photoelectric performance of TiO2 nanotube was enhanced by combined with ZnO nanoparticles and the sample fabricated by immerging TiO2 nanotube in 10-3 mol.L-1 Zn(NO3)2 aqueous solution displayed optimal photoelectric performance.
