Abstract:We study oscillatory behavior of solutions to a class of second-order nonlinear neutral differential equations under the assumptions that allow applications to differential equations with delayed and advanced arguments. New theorems do not need several restrictive assumptions required in related results reported in the literature. Several examples are provided to show that the results obtained are sharp even for second-order ordinary differential equations and improve related contributions to the subject.

Abstract:The study of half-linear differential equations has become an important area of research due to the fact that such equations occur in a variety of real-world problems such as in the study of \(p\)-Laplace equations, non-Newtonian fluid theory, and the turbulent flow of a polytrophic gas in a porous medium. On the basis of these background details, we study oscillatory behavior of a class of second-order neutral functional dynamic equations on a time scale. New criteria improve and complement related results reported in the literature. Some examples are included to illustrate the results obtained. In particular, an example regarding the second-order neutral differential equation is also provided to show that these theorems improve those in the continuous case.

Abstract:We establish some new criteria for the oscillation of second-order Emden–Fowler neutral delay differential equations. We study the case of superlinear and the case of sublinear equations subject to various conditions. The results obtained show that the presence of a neutral term in a differential equation can cause or destroy oscillatory properties. Several examples are provided to illustrate the relevance of new theorems.

Abstract:Using the fixed point theorem in Banach space,and by introducing parameter function and the generalized Riccati transformation,a new nonoscillation criteria for the equation was obtained.In addition,a sufficient condition for oscillation of the equation was proposed.These criteria can improve the restriction of the conditions for the equation. Some existed results in the literatures have been further improved and extended.
