Abstract:Let p be a prime and let F be a saturated fusion system over a finite p-group P. A fusion system F is said to be nilpotent if F=FP(P). We give various criteria for a saturated fusion system F to be nilpotent, which generalize the analogous criteria for a finite group to be p-nilpotent.

Abstract:Let $p$ be an odd prime and let $\mathcal{F}$ be a fusion system over a finite $p$-group $P$. A fusion system $\mathcal{F}$ is said to be nilpotent if $\mathcal{F}=\mathcal{F}_{P}(P)$. In this paper we provide new criteria for saturated fusion systems $\mathcal{F}$ to be nilpotent, which can be viewed as extension of the $p$-nilpotency theorem of Glauberman and Thompson for fusion systems attributed to Kessar and Linckelmann.

Abstract:Let $p$ be a prime and $\mathcal{F}$ be a saturated fusion system over a finite $p$-group $P$. The fusion system $\mathcal{F}$ is said to be nilpotent if $\mathcal{F}=\mathcal{F}_{P}(P)$. We provide new criteria for a saturated fusion system $\mathcal{F}$ to be nilpotent, which may be viewed as extending the Glauberman-Thompson $p$-nilpotency criterion to fusion systems.

Abstract:Let $p$ be a prime, $S$ be a $p$-group and $\mathcal{F}$ be a saturated fusion system over $S$. Then $\mathcal{F}$ is said to be supersolvable, if there exists a series of $S$, namely $1 = S_0 \leq S_1 \leq \cdots \leq S_n = S$, such that $S_{i+1}/S_i$ is cyclic, $i=0,1,\cdots, n-1$, $S_i$ is strongly $\mathcal{F}$-closed, $i=0,1,\cdots,n$. In this paper, we investigate the characterizations for supersolvability of $\mathcal{F}_S (G)$ under the assumption that certain subgroups of $G$ satisfy different kinds of generalized normalities in section \ref{1003}. Moreover, we obtain the more advanced and remarkable result of characterizations for generalized saturated fusion system $\mathcal{F}$ in section \ref{Section 4}. Finally, we apply the results in section \ref{1003} and \ref{Section 4} and give characterizations for $p$-nilpotency of finite groups under the assumption that some subgroups of $G$ satisfy different kinds of generalized normalities.

Abstract:In this paper we study the saturated fusion systems ℱ over 𝒜_2 -groups S of order greater than p^4 . This study requires the analysis of the possible saturated fusion systems in terms of the ℱ -automorphisms of the possible ℱ -centric and ℱ -radical subgroups. Also, for each case in the classification, either S is resistant or ℱ is constrained. The classification identifies a large family of resistant groups complementing the results on resistant groups found by various authors such as Green–Minh, Stancu, and Díaz–Ruiz–Viruel. Moreover, the classification provides some interesting examples of saturated fusion systems which have an ℱ -essential abelian subgroup of index p .

Abstract:In this paper we study the saturated fusion systems over a direct product of the extraspecial group of order p(3) of exponent p and a finite abelian p-group. The result provides some new exotic fusion systems, whose unique components are isomorphic to the exotic fusion systems over 7+1+2 found by Ruiz and Viruel.

Abstract:We determine for which known finite simple groups $G$ and which primes $p$ the $p$-fusion system of $G$ is simple. This means first collecting together the results that were already known (and correcting two errors made in an earlier study of this question), and then handling the remaining cases. At the same time, we develop some new tools to use when determining $O^{p'}(\mathcal{F})$ for arbitrary saturated fusion systems.

Abstract:We consider complex characters of a p-group P, which are invariant under a fusion system F on P. Extending a theorem of Bárcenas--Cantarero to non-saturated fusion systems, we show that the number of indecomposable F-invariant characters of P is greater or equal than the number of F-conjugacy classes of P. We further prove that these two quantities coincide whenever F is realized by a p-solvable group. On the other hand, we observe that this is false for constrained fusion systems in general. Finally, we construct a saturated fusion system with an indecomposable F-invariant character, which is not a summand of the regular character of P. This disproves a recent conjecture of Cantarero--Combariza.

Abstract:An $\mathcal{F}$-essential subgroup is called a pearl if it is either elementary abelian of order $p^2$ or non-abelian of order $p^3$. In this paper we start the investigation of fusion systems containing pearls: we determine a bound for the order of $p$-groups containing pearls and we classify the saturated fusion systems on $p$-groups containing pearls and having sectional rank at most $4$.

Abstract:Let $p$ be a prime number. A saturated fusion system $\mathcal{F}$ on a finite $p$-group $S$ is said to be supersolvable if there is a series $1 = S_0 \le S_1 \le \dots \le S_m = S$ of subgroups of $S$ such that $S_i$ is strongly $\mathcal{F}$-closed for all $0 \le i \le m$ and such that $S_{i+1}/S_i$ is cyclic for all $0 \le i < m$. We prove some criteria that ensure that a saturated fusion system $\mathcal{F}$ on a finite $p$-group $S$ is supersolvable provided that certain subgroups of $S$ are abelian and weakly $\mathcal{F}$-closed. Our results can be regarded as generalizations of purely group-theoretic results of Asaad.

Abstract:In the early 1990s, Puig created his theory of fusion systems as a tool in modular representation theory. Later, Broto, Levi and Oliver used this theory to provide a formal setting for and prove results about the p -completed classifying spaces of finite groups. Aschbacher also started a program to establish a local theory of fusion systems similar to the local theory of finite groups. In this paper, we define the notion of ranks for fusion systems which imitates the notion of p -local ranks for finite groups and prove some results about weakly normal subsystems and factor systems.

Abstract:Let F be a saturated fusion system on a finite p-group S, and let P be a strongly F -closed subgroup of S. We define the concept “ F -essential subgroups with respect to P” which are some proper subgroups of P satisfying some technical conditions and show that an F -isomorphism between subgroups of P can be factorized by some automorphisms of P and F -essential subgroups with respect to P. When P is taken to be equal to S, the Alperin-Goldschmidt fusion theorem can be obtained as a special case. We also show that P ⊴ F if and only if there is no F -essential subgroup with respect to P. The following definition is made: A p-group P is strongly resistant in saturated fusion systems if P ⊴ F whenever there is an over p-group S and a saturated fusion system F on S such that P is strongly F -closed. It is shown that several classes of p-groups are strongly resistant, which appears as our third main theorem. We also give a new necessary and sufficient criterion for a strongly F -closed subgroup to be normal in F . These results are obtained as a consequence of developing a theory of quasi and semi-saturated fusion systems, which seems to be interesting in its own right.

Abstract:Let $p$ be an odd prime and $S$ a nonabelian finite $p$-group. In [9, 10], they proposed the following conjecture: if $\mathcal{F}$ be a transitive fusion system over a finite $p$-group $S$, then $S$ is either extraspecial of order $p^{3}$ or elementary abelian. In this note, we use an easy method to prove that this conjecture holds when the $p$-rank of $S$ is 2.

Abstract:Let $H$ be a subgroup of a group $G$. $H$ is said satisfying $\Pi$-property in $G$, if $|G/K:N_{G/K}(HK/K\cap L/K)|$ is a $\pi(HK/K\cap L/K))$-number for any chief factor $L/K$ of $G$, and, if there is a subnormal supplement $T$ of $H$ in $G$ such that $H\cap T\le I\le H$ for some subgroup $I$ satisfying $\Pi$-property in $G$, then $H$ is said $\Pi$-normal in $G$. By these properties of some subgroups, we obtain some new criterions of $p$-nilpotency of finite groups.
