Abstract:In this paper, some existence theorems are obtained for periodic solutions of a damped vibration problem with (q, p) - Laplacian by using variational methods. Our results extend some results in some known literatures.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the variational principle and the existence of periodic solutions for a new class of second-order ordinary p-Laplacian systems. The variational principle is given by making use of two methods. We obtain three existence theorems of periodic solutions to this problem on various sufficient conditions on the potential function F(t,x) or nonlinearity ∇F(t,x). Four examples are presented to illustrate the feasibility and effectiveness of our results.

Abstract:By means of Mawhin’s continuation theorem, we study a class of p-Laplacian Duffing type differential equations of the form (φp(x′(t)))′=Cx′(t)+g(t,x(t),x(t−τ(t)))+e(t). Some new results on the existence and uniqueness of periodic solutions for the above equation are obtained. It is significant that the growth degree with respect to the variables u,v imposed on g(t,u,v) is allowed to be greater than p−1, so our results generalize and improve on the corresponding results in related papers.

Abstract:We study a nonlinear periodic problem driven by the p(t)-Laplacian and having a nonsmooth potential (hemivariational inequalities). Using a variational method based on nonsmooth critical point theory for locally Lipschitz functions, we first prove the existence of at least two nontrivial solutions under the generalized subquadratic and then establish the existence of at least one nontrivial solution under the generalized superquadratic.

Abstract:The existence and uniqueness of T-periodic solutions for the following boundary value problems with p-Laplacian: (ϕp(x′))′+f(t,x′)+g(t,x)=e(t),x(0)=x(T),x′(0)=x′(T) are investigated, where ϕp(u)=∣u∣p−2u with p>1 and f,g,e are continuous and are T-periodic in t with f(t,0)=0. Abstract:In this paper, we deal with the nonlinear second-order differential equation with damped vibration term involving p-Laplacian operator. Of particular interest is the resolution of an open problem. An interesting outcome from our result is that we can obtain the fast homoclinic solution with general superlinear growth assumption in suitable Sobolev space. To our knowledge, our theorems appear to be the first such result about damped vibration problem with p-Laplacian operator.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider p-Laplace equation which models the turbulent flow in a porous medium. Using a continuation principle (cf. [R. and J. Mawhin, Periodic solutions for nonlinear systems with p-Lplacian-like operators, J. Diff. Equa. 145(1998), 367-393]), we prove the existence of solutions for p-Laplace equation subject to periodic boundary conditions, under some sign and growth conditions for f. With the help of Leray-Schauder degree theory, the multiplicity of periodic solutions for p-Laplace equation is obtained under the similar conditions above and some known results are improved.

Abstract:In this paper we study the existence of time periodic solutions for the evolutionary weighted p-Laplacian with a nonlinear periodic source in a bounded domain containing the origin. We show that there is a critical exponent q(c) = q(c)(alpha,beta) = (N+beta)p/N+alpha-p - 1 and a singular exponent q(s) = p - 1: there exists a positive periodic solution when 0 < q < q(c) and q not equal q(s); while there is no positive periodic solution when q >= q(c). The case when q = q(s) is completely different from the remaining case q not equal q(s), the problem may or may not have solutions depending on the coefficients of the equation.

Abstract:In this paper, we deal with the existence and multiplicity of homoclinic solutions of the following damped vibration problemsu¨(t)+q(t)u̇(t)-L(t)u(t)+∇W(t,u(t))=0,where L(t) and W(t,x) are neither autonomous nor periodic in t. Our approach is variational and it is based on the critical point theory. We prove existence and multiplicity results of fast homoclinic solutions under general growth conditions on the potential function. Moreover, some open problems proposed by Zhang and Ruan are resolved. Our theorems appear to be the first such result.

Under some suitable conditions on the potential and nonlinearity, the new existence result of nontrivial solutions is obtained via variational methods.
