Abstract:In Affine Toda field theory, links among three generating functions for integrals of motion derived from Part (I) are studied, and some classically integrable boundary conditions are obtained. An infinite number of integrals of motion are calculated in ZMS model with quasi-periodic condition. We find the classically integrable boundary conditions and K+/-, matrices of ZMS model with independent boundary conditions on each end. It is identified that an infinite number of integrals of motion does exist and one of them is the Hamiltonian, so this system is completely integrable.

Abstract:We consider the integrable XXZ model with special open boundary conditions that renders its Hamiltonian ${SU(2)}_q$ symmetric, and the one-dimensional quantum Ising model with four different boundary conditions. We show that for each boundary condition the Ising quantum chain is exactly given by the Minimal Model of integrable lattice theory $LM(3, 4)$. This last theory is obtained as the result of the quantum group reduction of the XXZ model at anisotropy $\Delta=(q + q^{-1})/2=\sqrt{2}/2$, with a number of sites in the latter defined by the type of boundary conditions.

Abstract:In <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="1704.05807" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1704.05807">arXiv:1704.05807</a>, it was shown that the planar flavored ABJM theory is integrable in the scalar sector at two-loop order using coordinate Bethe ansatz. A salient feature of this case is that the boundary reflection matrices are anti-diagonal with respect to the chosen basis. In this paper, we relax the coefficients of the boundary terms to be general constants in order to search for integrable systems among this class. We found that at each end of the spin chain, the only integrable boundary interaction, besides the one in <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="1704.05807" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1704.05807">arXiv:1704.05807</a>, is the one with vanishing boundary interactions leading to diagonal reflection matrices. We also construct non-supersymmetric plannar flavored ABJM theory which leads to trivial boundary interaction at both ends of the open chain from two-loop anomalous dimension matrix in the scalar sector.

Abstract:In the Berkooz-Douglas matrix model of M theory in the presence of longitudinal $M5$-brane, we investigate the effective dynamics of the system by considering the longitudinal $M5$-brane as the background and the spherical $M5$-brane related with the other space dimensions as the probe brane. Due to there exists the background field strength provided by the source of the longitudinal $M5$-brane, an open membrane should be ended on the spherical $M5$-brane based on the topological reason. The formation of the bound brane configuration for the open membrane ending on the 5-branes in the background of longitudinal 5-brane can be used to model the 4-dimensional quantum Hall system proposed recently by Zhang and Hu. The description of the excitations of the quantum Hall soliton brane configuration is established by investigating the fluctuations of $D0$-branes living on the bound brane around their classical solution derived by the transformations of area preserving diffeomorphisms of the open membrane. We find that this effective field theory for the fluctuations is an SO(4) non-commutative Chern-Simons field theory. The matrix regularized version of this effective field theory is given in order to allow the finite $D0$-branes to live on the bound brane. We also discuss some possible applications of our results to the related topics in M-theory and to the 4-dimensional quantum Hall system.

Abstract:WZW models are abstract conformal field theories with an infinite dimensional symmetry which accounts for their integrability, and at the same time they have a sigma model description of closed string propagation on group manifolds which, in turn, endows the models with an intuitive geometric meaning. We exploit this dual algebraic and geometric property of WZW models to construct an explicit example of a field-dependent reflection matrix for open-strings in Nappi-Witten model. Demanding the momentum outflow at the boundary to be zero determines a certain combination of the left and right chiral currents at the boundary. This same reflection matrix is obtained algebraically from an inner automorphism, giving rise to a space-filling D-brane. Half of the infinite dimensional affine Kac-Moody symmetry present in the closed-string theory is preserved by this unique combination of the left and the right chiral currents. The OPEs of these boundary currents are computed explicitly and they are showed to obey the same current algebra as those of the closed-string chiral currents. Different choices of the inner automorphisms correspond to different background gauge field configurations. Only those B-field configurations, and the corresponding D-branes, that preserve the diagonal part of the infinite dimensional chiral algebras are allowed. In this way the existence of the D-branes in curved spaces is further constrained by the underlying symmetry of the ambient spacetime.

Abstract:The subject matter of this work is a 1D quantum spin - $\frac{1}{2}$ chain associated with the inhomogeneous six-vertex model possessing an additional ${\cal Z}_r$ symmetry. The model is studied in a certain parametric domain, where it is critical. Within the ODE/IQFT approach, a class of ordinary differential equations and a quantization condition are proposed which describe the scaling limit of the system. Some remarkable features of the CFT underlying the critical behaviour are observed. Among them is an infinite degeneracy of the conformal primary states and the presence of a continuous component in the spectrum in the case of even $r$.

Abstract:We derive by the traditional algebraic Bethe ansatz method the Bethe equations for the general open XXZ spin chain with non-diagonal boundary terms under the Nepomechie constraint [J. Phys. A 37 (2004), 433-440, <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="hep-th/0304092" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/hep-th/0304092">arXiv:hep-th/0304092</a>]. The technical difficulties due to the breaking of $\mathsf{U}(1)$ symmetry and the absence of a reference state are overcome by an algebraic construction where the two-boundary Temperley-Lieb Hamiltonian is realised in a new $U_{\mathfrak{q}}\mathfrak{sl}_2$-invariant spin chain involving infinite-dimensional Verma modules on the edges [J. High Energy Phys. 2022 (2022), no. 11, 016, 64 pages, <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2207.12772" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2207.12772">arXiv:2207.12772</a>]. The equivalence of the two Hamiltonians is established by proving Schur-Weyl duality between $U_{\mathfrak{q}}\mathfrak{sl}_2$ and the two-boundary Temperley-Lieb algebra. In this framework, the Nepomechie condition turns out to have a simple algebraic interpretation in terms of quantum group fusion rules.

Abstract:We study descendants of inhomogeneous vertex models with boundary reflections when the spin-spin scattering is assumed to be quasi--classical. This corresponds to consider certain power expansion of the boundary-Yang-Baxter equation (or reflection equation). As final product, integrable $su(2)$-spin chains interacting with a long range with $XXZ$ anisotropy are obtained. The spin-spin couplings are non uniform, and a non uniform tunable external magnetic field is applied; the latter can be obtained when the boundary conditions are assumed to be quasi-classical as well. The exact spectrum is achieved by algebraic Bethe ansatz. Having realized the $su(2)$ operators in terms of fermions, the class of models we found turns out to describe confined fermions with pairing force interactions. The class of models presented in this paper is a one-parameter extension of certain Hamiltonians constructed previously. Extensions to $su(n)$-spin open chains are discussed.

Abstract:The graded off-diagonal Bethe ansatz method is proposed to study supersymmetric quantum integrable models (i.e., quantum integrable models associated with superalgebras). As an example, the exact solutions of the <math>SU(2|2)</math> vertex model with both periodic and generic open boundary conditions are constructed. By generalizing the fusion techniques to the supersymmetric case, a closed set of operator product identities about the transfer matrices are derived, which allows us to give the eigenvalues in terms of homogeneous or inhomogeneous <math>T−Q</math> relations. The method and results provided in this paper can be generalized to other high rank supersymmetric quantum integrable models.

Abstract:We study the thermodynamic limit of the anisotropic XYZ spin chain with non-diagonal integrable open boundary conditions. Although the U(1)-symmetry is broken, by using the new parametrization scheme, we exactly obtain the surface energy and the excitation energy of the system, which has solved the difficulty in the inhomogeneous T − Q relation. With the boundary parameters in the regions making the Hamiltonian Hermitian, we have obtained the distribution patterns of the zeros of the eigenvalue of the transfer matrix for the ground state and the excited ones. We find that the surface and excitation energies depend on the parities of sites number N , due to the long-range Neel order in the bulk. The easy-axis and thermodynamic limit for all the regions of boundary parameters are studied. We also obtain the physical quantities in the thermodynamic limit of boundary XXZ model by taking the trigonometric limit.

Abstract:The open XXZ spin chain with the anisotropy parameter $\Delta=-\frac12$ and diagonal boundary magnetic fields that depend on a parameter $x$ is studied. For real $x>0$, the exact finite-size ground-state eigenvalue of the spin-chain Hamiltonian is explicitly computed. In a suitable normalisation, the ground-state components are characterised as polynomials in $x$ with integer coefficients. Linear sum rules and special components of this eigenvector are explicitly computed in terms of determinant formulas. These results follow from the construction of a contour-integral solution to the boundary quantum Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equations associated with the $R$-matrix and diagonal $K$-matrices of the six-vertex model. A relation between this solution and a weighted enumeration of totally-symmetric alternating sign matrices is conjectured.

Abstract:Using a fermionic version of the Lax pair formulation, we construct an integrable small-polaron model with general open boundary conditions. The Lax pair and the boundary supermatrices $K_{\pm}$ for the model are obtained. This provides a direct proof of the integrability of the model.

Abstract:We study Yang-Baxter deformations of the flat space string that result in exactly solvable models, finding the Nappi-Witten model and its higher dimensional generalizations. We then consider the spectra of these models obtained by canonical quantization in light-cone gauge, and match them with an integrability-based Bethe ansatz approach. By considering a generalized light-cone gauge we can describe the model by a nontrivially Drinfel'd twisted S matrix, explicitly verifying the twisted structure expected for such deformations. Next, the reformulation of the Nappi-Witten model as a Yang-Baxter deformation shows that Yang-Baxter models can have more symmetries than suggested by the $r$ matrix defining the deformation. We discuss these enhanced symmetries in more detail for some trivial and nontrivial examples. Finally, we observe that there are nonunimodular but Weyl-invariant Yang-Baxter models of a type not previously considered.

Abstract:We study the Levin-Wen string-net model with a Z(N) type fusion algebra. Solutions of the local constraints of this model correspond to Z(N) gauge theory and double Chern-Simons theories with quantum groups. For the first time, we explicitly construct a spin-(N - 1)/2 model with Z(N) gauge symmetry on a triangular lattice as an exact dual model of the string-net model with a Z(N) type fusion algebra on a honeycomb lattice. This exact duality exists only when the spins are coupled to a Z(N) gauge field living on the links of the triangular lattice. The ungauged Z(N) lattice spin models are a class of quantum systems that bear symmetry-protected topological phases that may be classified by the third cohomology group H-3(Z(N), U(1)) of Z(N). Abstract:The nested off-diagonal Bethe ansatz method is proposed to diagonalize multi-component integrable models with generic integrable boundaries. As an example, the exact solutions of the su(n)-invariant spin chain model with both periodic and non-diagonal boundaries are derived by constructing the nested T-Q relations based on the operator product identities among the fused transfer matrices and the asymptotic behavior of the transfer matrices.

Integrability of open boundary driven quantum circuits

Abstract:In this paper, we address the problem of Yang-Baxter integrability of doubled quantum circuit of qubits (spins 1/2) with open boundary conditions where the two circuit replicas are only coupled at the left or right boundary. We investigate the cases where the bulk is given by elementary six vertex unitary gates of either the free fermionic XX type or interacting XXZ type. By using the Sklyanin's construction of reflection algebra, we obtain the most general solutions of the boundary Yang-Baxter equation for such a setup. We use this solution to build, from the transfer matrix formalism, integrable circuits with two step discrete time Floquet (aka brickwork) dynamics. We prove that, only if the bulk is a free-model, the boundary matrices are in general non-factorizable, and for particular choice of free parameters yield non-trivial unitary dynamics with boundary interaction between the two chains. Then, we consider the limit of continuous time evolution and we give the interpretation of a restricted set of the boundary terms in the Lindbladian setting. Specifically, for a particular choice of free parameters, the solutions correspond to an open quantum system dynamics with the source terms representing injecting or removing particles from the boundary of the spin chain.
