Abstract:We prove an explicit formula of the Berezin star product on Kähler manifolds. The formula is expressed as a summation over certain strongly connected digraphs. The proof relies on a combinatorial interpretation of Engliš’ work on the asymptotic expansion of the Laplace integral.

Abstract:In this paper we describe a proof of the formulas of Witten [W1], [W2] about the symplectic volumes and the intersection numbers of the moduli spaces of principal bundles on a compact Riemann surface. It is known that these formulas give all the information needed for the Verlinde formula. The main idea of the proof is to use the heat kernel on compact Lie groups, in a way very similar to the heat kernel proof of the Atiyah-Singer index formula and the Atiyah-Bott fixed point formula. The Reidemeister torsion comes into the picture, through a beautiful observation of Witten, as the symplectic volume of the moduli space. It plays the role similar to that played by the Ray-Singer torsion in the path-integral computations on the space of connections. The basic idea is as follows. Consider a smooth map between two compact smooth manifolds f : M → N . Let H(t, x, x0) be the heat kernel of the Laplace-Beltrami operator on N with x0 a fixed regular value of f . On a Graph Theoretic Formula of Gammelgaard for Berezin–Toeplitz Quantization

Abstract:We give a proof of (a slightly refined version of) a graph theoretic formula due to Gammelgaard, Karabegov and Schlichenmaier for Berezin–Toeplitz quantization on Kähler manifolds. We obtain the formula by inverting the Berezin transform using a composition formula for the ring of differential operators encoded by linear combinations of strongly connected graphs. The same method is also used to identify the dual Karabegov–Bordemann–Waldmann star product. Our proof has the merit of giving more insight into Karabegov–Schlichenmaier’s identification theorem (Karabegov in J Reine Angew Math 540:49–76, 2001 ) that the Karabegov classifying form of the Berezin and Berezin–Toeplitz star products are, respectively, obtained by deforming the Kähler metric along the Ricci curvature and the logarithm of the Bergman kernel.

Abstract:We prove a graph theoretic closed formula for coefficients in the Tian-Yau-Zelditch asymptotic expansion of the Bergman kernel. The formula is expressed in terms of the characteristic polynomial of the directed graphs representing Weyl invariants. The proof relies on a combinatorial interpretation of a recursive formula due to M. Engliš and A. Loi.

Abstract:We construct a multiple star product method and, using this method, show that integral forms of some star products can be written in terms of the path integral. The method is applied to some examples. In particular, the associativity of the skew-symmetrized Berezin star product proposed by Saito and Wakatsuki is recovered in the large-N limit of the multiple star product. We also derive the path integral form of the Kontsevich star product from the multiple Moyal star product. This paper includes a review of star products.

Abstract:The Kontsevich star-product admits a well-defined restriction to the class of affine -- in particular, linear -- Poisson brackets; its graph expansion consists only of Kontsevich's graphs with in-degree $\leqslant 1$ for aerial vertices. We obtain the formula $\star_{\text{aff}}\text{ mod }\bar{o}(\hbar^7)$ with harmonic propagators for the graph weights (over $n\leqslant 7$ aerial vertices); we verify that all these weights satisfy the cyclic weight relations by Shoikhet--Felder--Willwacher, that they match the computations using the $\textsf{kontsevint}$ software by Panzer, and the resulting affine star-product is associative modulo $\bar{o}(\hbar^7)$. We discover that the Riemann zeta value $\zeta(3)^2/\pi^6$, which enters the harmonic graph weights (up to rationals), actually disappears from the analytic formula of $\star_{\text{aff}}\text{ mod }\bar{o}(\hbar^7)$ \textit{because} all the $\mathbb{Q}$-linear combinations of Kontsevich graphs near $\zeta(3)^2/\pi^6$ represent differential consequences of the Jacobi identity for the affine Poisson bracket, hence their contribution vanishes. We thus derive a ready-to-use shorter formula $\star_{\text{aff}}^{\text{red}}$ mod~$\bar{o}(\hbar^7)$ with only rational coefficients.

Abstract:We employ combinatorial techniques to present an explicit formula for the coefficients in front of Chern classes involving in the Hattori-Stong integrability conditions. We also give an evenness condition for the signature of stably almost-complex manifolds in terms of Chern numbers. As an application, it can be showed that the signature of a $2n$-dimensional stably almost-complex manifold whose possibly nonzero Chern numbers being $c_n$ and $c_ic_{n-i}$ is even, which particularly rules out the existence of such structure on rational projective planes. Some other related results and remarks are also discussed in this article.

Abstract:We give a complex two-dimensional noncommutative locally symmetric Kähler manifold via a deformation quantization with separation of variables. We present an explicit formula of its star product by solving the system of recurrence relations given by Hara-Sako. In the two-dimensional case, this system of recurrence relations gives two types of equations corresponding to the two coordinates. From the two types of recurrence relations, symmetrized and antisymmetrized recurrence relations are obtained. The symmetrized one gives the solution of the recurrence relation. From the antisymmetrized one, the identities satisfied by the solution are obtained. The star products for $\mathbb{C}^{2}$ and $\mathbb{C}P^{2}$ are constructed by the method obtained in this study, and we verify that these star products satisfy the identities.

Abstract:The purpose of this paper is to extend our previous work on the variational formula for the Bismut-Cheeger eta form without the kernel bundle assumption by allowing the spin$^c$ Dirac operators to be twisted by isomorphic vector bundles, and to establish the $\mathbb{Z}_2$-graded additivity of the Bismut-Cheeger eta form. Using these results, we give alternative proofs of the fact that the analytic index in differential $K$-theory is a well defined group homomorphism, and the Riemann-Roch-Grothendieck theorem in $\mathbb{R}/\mathbb{Z}$ $K$-theory.

Abstract:The well-known Baker-Campbell-Hausdorff theorem in Lie theory says that the logarithm of a noncommutative product e X e Y can be expressed in terms of iterated commutators of X and Y. This paper provides a gentle introduction t{ó} Ecalle's mould calculus and shows how it allows for a short proof of the above result, together with the classical Dynkin explicit formula [Dy47] for the logarithm, as well as another formula recently obtained by T. Kimura [Ki17] for the product of exponentials itself. We also analyse the relation between the two formulas and indicate their mould calculus generalization to a product of more exponentials.

Abstract:We obtain explicit expressions for the class in the Grothendieck group of varieties of the moduli space of genus 0 stable curves with n marked points. This information is equivalent to the Poincaré polynomial; it implies explicit expressions for the Betti numbers of the moduli space in terms of Stirling numbers or, alternatively, Bernoulli numbers. The expressions are obtained by solving a differential equation characterizing the generating function for the Grothendieck class as shown in work of Yuri Manin from the 1990s. This differential equation is equivalent to S. Keel's recursion for the Betti numbers of these moduli spaces. Our proof reduces the solution to two combinatorial identities which follow from applications of Lagrange series. We also study generating functions for the individual Betti numbers. In previous work it had been shown that these functions are determined by a set of polynomials with positive rational coefficients, which are conjecturally log-concave. We verify this conjecture for many infinite families of these polynomials, corresponding to the generating functions for the $2k$-Betti numbers of the moduli spaces for all $k\le 100$. Further, studying these polynomials allows us to prove that the generating function for the Grothendieck class of the moduli spaces may be written as a series of rational functions in the Lefschetz motive and the principal branch of the Lambert W-function. We include an interpretation of the main result in terms of Stirling matrices and a discussion of the Euler characteristic of the moduli space.

Abstract:The formula $\star$ mod $\bar{o}(\hbar^k)$ of Kontsevich's star-product with harmonic propagators was known in full at $\hbar^{k\leqslant 6}$ since 2018 for generic Poisson brackets, and since 2022 also at $k=7$ for affine brackets. We discover that the mechanism of associativity for the star-product up to $\bar{o}(\hbar^6)$ is different from the mechanism at order $7$ for both the full star-product and the affine star-product. Namely, at lower orders the needed consequences of the Jacobi identity are immediately obtained from the associator mod $\bar{o}(\hbar^6)$, whereas at order $\hbar^7$ and higher, some of the necessary differential consequences are reached from the Kontsevich graphs in the associator in strictly more than one step.

Abstract:In the context of the Kuznetsov trace formula, we outline the theory of the Bessel functions on $GL(n)$ as a series of conjectures designed as a blueprint for the construction of Kuznetsov-type formulas with given ramification at infinity. We are able to prove one of the conjectures at full generality on $GL(n)$ and most of the conjectures in the particular case of the long Weyl element; as with previous papers, we give some unconditional results on Archimedean Whittaker functions, now on $GL(n)$ with arbitrary weight. We expect the heuristics here to apply at the level of real reductive groups. In an appendix, we make good progress toward series and integral representations of $GL(4)$ Bessel functions by proving several of the conjectures for $GL(4)$.

Abstract:We establish a derivative formula of $p$-adic Shintani $L$-functions, thus those of totally real $p$-adic Hecke $L$-functions with trivial moduli. As an application, we present a product formula of bivariate $p$-adic Gamma values by specializing to genus $L$-functions, which takes a particularly simple form when the field is $\mathbf{Q}(\sqrt{3})$. In the appendix we explain how the product formula is supposed to encode a higher analytic analogue of the Davenport-Hasse relation.
