Abstract:In this paper, we study the Gross‐Pitaevskii system with trapped dipolar quantum gases. We obtain both the stable regime and the unstable regime. Moreover, via a construction of cross minimization problem, the blow up threshold is established.

Abstract:We consider the blow-up solutions for the Gross-Pitaveskii equation modeling the attractive Boes-Einstein condensate. First, a new variational characteristic is established by computing the best constant of a generalized Gagliardo-Nirenberg inequality. Then, a lower bound on blow-up rate and a new concentration phenomenon of blow-up solutions are obtained in the L 2 supercritical case. Finally, in the L 2 critical case, a delicate limit of blow-up solutions is analyzed.

Abstract:We consider the evolution of a gas of $N$ bosons in the three-dimensional Gross-Pitaevskii regime (in which particles are initially trapped in a volume of order one and interact through a repulsive potential with scattering length of the order $1/N$). We construct a quasi-free approximation of the many-body dynamics, whose distance to the solution of the Schrödinger equation converges to zero, as $N \to \infty$, in the $L^2 (\mathbb{R}^{3N})$-norm. To achieve this goal, we let the Bose-Einstein condensate evolve according to a time-dependent Gross-Pitaevskii equation. After factoring out the microscopic correlation structure, the evolution of the orthogonal excitations of the condensate is governed instead by a Bogoliubov dynamics, with a time-dependent generator quadratic in creation and annihilation operators. As an application, we show a central limit theorem for fluctuations of bounded observables around their expectation with respect to the Gross-Pitaevskii dynamics.

Abstract:The stochastic Gross-Pitaevskii equation represents a versatile approach for studying the dynamics of trapped degenerate ultracold Bose gases in the presence of large phase and density fluctuations. Following a brief review of the original formulation of Stoof, which highlights the benefits of this approach and its relation to alternative theories, we present selected applications for the dynamics of effectively one-dimensional systems, and briefly discuss the generalization to two-dimensional systems, highlighting certain potential pitfalls in their numerical implementations.

Abstract:We consider a Bose-Einstein condensate in a 2D dilute Bose gas, with an external potential and an interaction potential containing both of the short-range attractive self-interaction and the long-range self-gravitating effect. We prove the existence of minimizers and analyze their behavior when the strength of the attractive interaction converges to a critical value. The universal blow-up profile is the unique optimizer of a Gagliardo-Nirenberg interpolation inequality.

Abstract:We study the dipolar Gross-Piteavskii functional with the Lee-Huang-Yang (LHY) correction term without trapping potential and in the regime where the dipole-dipole interaction dominates the repulsive short-range interaction. We show that, above a critical mass, the functional admits minimizers and we prove their regularity and exponential decay. We also estimate the critical mass in terms of the parameters of the system.

Abstract:We present a novel approach to the Bogoliubov theory of dilute Bose gases, allowing for an elementary derivation of the celebrated Lee-Huang-Yang formula in the Gross-Pitaevskii regime. Furthermore, we identify the low lying excitation spectrum beyond the Gross-Pitaevskii scaling, extending a recent result [3] to significantly more singular scaling regimes. Finally, we provide an upper bound on the ground state energy in the Gross-Pitaevskii regime that captures the correct expected order of magnitude beyond the Lee-Huang-Yang formula.

A systematic perturbative expansion of the solution of the time-independent Gross-Pitaevskii equation

Abstract:In this article a perturbative solution of the Gross-Pitaevskii(GP) equation in the $D$-dimensional space $R^D$ with a general external potential is studied. The solution describes the condensate wave-function of a gas containing $N$ Bose particles. A criteria for the validity of the perturbative solution is developed. Furthermore expressions for the particle density, the chemical potential, the internal energy and the mean-square radius of the condensate are derived corrected to first order in the coupling constant. The scheme is then applied to obtain the solution of the GP equation in $D=1,2,3$ for external harmonic potentials. It is shown, in each case, that if $N$ exceeds a certain value the solution breaks down.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the complex Ginzburg-Landau equation $$ \partial_t u = (1 + i \beta) \Delta u + (1 + i \delta) |u|^{p-1}u - \alpha u, \quad \text{where } \beta, \delta, \alpha \in \mathbb{R}. $$ The study focuses on investigating the finite-time blow-up phenomenon, which remains an open question for a broad range of parameters, particularly for $\beta$ and $\delta$. Specifically, for a fixed $\beta \in \mathbb{R}$, the existence of finite-time blow-up solutions for arbitrarily large values of $ |\delta| $ is still unknown. According to a conjecture made by Popp et al. \cite{POPphd98}, when $\beta = 0$ and $\delta$ is large, blow-up does not occur for \textit{generic initial data}. In this paper, we show that their conjecture is not valid for all types of initial data, by presenting the existence of blow-up solutions for $\beta = 0$ and any $\delta \in \mathbb{R}$ with different types of blowup.

Abstract:The stochastic Gross-Pitaevskii equation is shown to be an excellent model for quasi-one-dimensional Bose gas experiments, accurately reproducing the in situ density profiles recently obtained in the experiments of Trebbia et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 97, 250403 (2006)PRLTAO0031-900710.1103/PhysRevLett.97.250403] and van Amerongen et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 100, 090402 (2008)PRLTAO0031-900710.1103/PhysRevLett.100.090402] and the density fluctuation data reported by Armijo et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 105, 230402 (2010)PRLTAO0031-900710.1103/PhysRevLett.105.230402]. To facilitate such agreement, we propose and implement a quasi-one-dimensional extension to the one-dimensional stochastic Gross-Pitaevskii equation for the low-energy, axial modes, while atoms in excited transverse modes are treated as independent ideal Bose gases.

Abstract:Abstract We study the beyond-mean-field corrections to the energy of a dipolar Bose gas confined to two dimensions by a box potential with dipoles oriented in plane such that their interaction is anisotropic in the two unconfined dimensions. At a critical strength of the dipolar interaction the system becomes unstable on the mean field level. We find that the ground state of the gas is strongly influenced by the corrections, leading to formation of a self-bound droplet, in analogy to the free space case. Properties of the droplet state can be found by minimizing the extended Gross–Pitaevskii energy functional. In the limit of strong confinement we show analytically that the correction can be interpreted as an effective three-body repulsion which stabilizes the gas at finite density.

Abstract:We consider the focusing NLS with an angular momentum and a harmonic potential, which models Bose-Einstein condensate under a rotating magnetic trap. We give a sharp condition on the global existence and blowup in the mass-critical case. We further consider the stability of such systems via variational method. We determine that at the critical exponent $p=1+4/n$, the mass of $Q$, the ground state for the NLS with zero potential, is the threshold for both finite time blowup and orbital instability. Moreover, we prove a sharp threshold theorem for the rotational NLS with an inhomogeneous nonlinearity. The analysis relies on the existence of ground state as well as a virial identity for the associated kinetic-magnetic operator.

The repulsive Euler-Poisson equations with variable doping profile

Abstract:We prove that arbitrary smooth perturbations of the zero equilibrium state of the repulsive pressureless Euler-Poisson equations, which describe the behavior of cold plasma, blow up for any non-constant doping profile already in one-dimensional space. Further, we study small perturbations of the equilibrium to determine which properties of the doping profile contribute to the blow-up. We also propose a numerical procedure that allows one to find the blow-up time for any initial data and present examples of such calculations for various doping profiles for standard initial data, corresponding to the laser pulse.

Abstract:In this paper we prove a blow up result for a class of nonlocal scalar Klein–Gordon equation. We assume that the nonlinearity has critical exponential growth. Additionally, we prove that the ground state solution of the elliptic problem associated to the original problem is unstable. The strategy is to adapt the recent ideas of Carrião et al. (J Dyn Differ Equ 2023. https://doi.org/10.1007/s10884-023-10281-3) to find two regions (stable and unstable regions). Since the one dimensional case combined with the 1/2 Laplacian operator cause lack of the control on the norm of , new delicate calculations are necessary. We prove also that there exists a subset of such that the solution is global when the initial data is taken into this set.

Abstract:We study the properties of modulational instability and discrete breathers arising in a quasi-one-dimensional discrete Gross-Pitaevskii equation with Lee-Huang-Yang corrections. Conditions for modulation instability and instability regions of nonlinear plane waves are determined in parameter space. We analytically investigate the existence of different quantum droplet solutions, including intersite, onsite, front-like, flat-top and dark localized modes, using the Page method and variational approach. Their stability is checked using linear stability analyses and numerical simulations. The analytical predictions corroborated with the numerical simulations.

Abstract:This paper devoted to the initial boundary problem of a degenerate reaction system with the null Dirichlet boundary condition.Based on the maximum principle,we construct the blowing-up lower solution by the relations of parameters and solution of the ordinary differential equation and then the blow-up properties are studied.We use the maximal principle to analyse the derivative profiles of the solution and get the lower bounds and upper bounds of blow-up rate through the complicated analysis technology and the inequality theory.

Abstract:Stabilized by quantum fluctuations, dipolar Bose–Einstein condensates can form self-bound liquid-like droplets. However in the Bogoliubov theory, there are imaginary phonon energies in the long-wavelength limit, implying dynamical instability of this system. A similar instability appears in the Bogoliubov theory of a binary quantum droplet, and is removed due to higher-order quantum fluctuations as shown recently [Gu Q and Yin L 2020 Phys. Rev. B 102 220503(R)]. We study the excitation energy of a dipolar quantum droplet in the Beliaev formalism, and find that quantum fluctuations significantly enhance the phonon stability. We adopt a self-consistent approach without the problem of complex excitation energy in the Bogoliubov theory, and obtain a stable anisotropic sound velocity which is consistent with the superfluid hydrodynamic theory, but slightly different from the result of the extended Gross–Pitaevskii equation due to quantum depletion. A modified Gross–Pitaevskii equation in agreement with the Beliaev theory is proposed, which takes the effect of quantum fluctuations into account more completely.
