Abstract:A domino synthesis of pyrrolo[1,2-alpha]pyrazine from 1H-2-pyrrolecarbaldehyde and readily synthesized vinyl azides was developed. This reaction proceeded under relatively mild conditions in the presence of base. Additionally, a possible mechanism for the entire sequence is proposed.

Abstract:A highly enantioselective intramolecular aza-Michael addition with enone carbamates catalyzed by chiral Bronsted acids was developed. A domino cross metathesis/aza-Michael addition for the preparation of 2-substituted pyrrolidines or benzopyrrolidines was also explored. The reactions described here provide an efficient asymmetric protocol for enantio-enriched heterocycles, especially 2-substituted pyrrolidines.

Abstract:A useful synthesis of five-membered N-heterocycles has been developed through an iridium-catalyzed domino-ring-opening cyclization of vinylaziridines with β-ketocarbonyls. α-Substituted 1,3-dicarbonyls reacted with vinylaziridines to give 2-methylenepyrrolidines bearing two adjacent sp3-carbon centers with moderate to excellent diastereoselectivity, while the reaction of α-unsubstituted 1,3-dicarbonyls afforded 2-pyrrolines in good yield.
