Abstract:The chloromethylation reaction of 2-chloro-thiophene via phase transfer catalysis was carried out to synthesize 2-chloro-3-chloromethyl-thiophene, where the catalyst was tetrabutylammonium bromide (TBAB). The chloromethylation reagents used were paraformaldehyde and 37% concentrated hydrochloric acid. The structure of 2-chloro-3-chloromethyl-thiophene was confirmed by means of GC-MAS, IR and ^1H NMR spectrometries. The yield was 77.6%. The O-alkylation reactions between 1-(2,4-dichloro-phenyl)-2-(1-imidazol)-ethanol and 2-chloro-3-chloromethyl-thiophene were performed in a two -phase system of organic solvent/solid NaOH under phase transfer catalytic condition. At the end, the tioconazole nitrate was formed by the addition of nitric acid. The structure of tioconazole was confirmed with IR and ^1H NMR spectra. The yield of tioconazole was 53.0%.

Abstract:A solvent-controlled divergent thiocyanation of carbazoles and di/triphenylamines has been developed. Using either CH 3 CN/H 2 O (3:1) or DMSO as the solvent, a facile and efficient protocol for the solvent-controlled divergent synthesis of mono- and di-thiocyanation of carbazoles and di/triphenylamines was achieved. The salient features of this transformation include simple and mild reaction conditions, easily available substrates, and broad substrate scope. Abstract:A simple method to synthesize diverse sulfonyl chlorides through NaClO2-mediated oxidative chlorosulfonation of S-alkyl isothiourea salts is presented. The approach features safe operation, environmental friendliness, convenient purification procedures, and delivers high yields of up to 96%. The procedure is also applicable to substrates such as thiols, disulfides, thioacetates, and xanthates. It is a versatile and convenient method for the synthesis of various sulfonyl chlorides from different thiol precursors and derivatives.

Abstract:Mono substituted thioureas are valuable chemical building blocks for the synthesis of pharmaceutically relevant molecules in both academia and the industry. We report here a catalyst-free preparation of mono substituted thioureas under very mild reaction condition. Condensation reactions of amines with carbon disulfide in ammonia solution gave mono substituted thioureas in good to excellent yield under catalyst-free condition.
