Abstract:A two-step, one-pot synthesis of fused pyrroles is realized by firstly condensing an N-alkynylhydroxammonium salt with a readily enolizable ketone under mild basic conditions and then subjecting the reaction mixture to a gold catalyst, which triggers a cascade reaction involving a facile initial [3.3]-sigmatropic rearrangement of the gold-catalysis product, that is, an N,O-dialkenylhydroxamine. The reaction provides a facile access to polycyclic pyrroles in moderate to good yields.

Abstract:Simple and practical reactions of pyrrole-2-carbaldehydes with nitroethylenes provide either the 5,6-dihydroindolizines or the indolizines in one pot, depending on the reaction temperature. Additionally, a plausible mechanism for the entire sequence is proposed.

Abstract:A novel tandem one-pot method for the synthesis of polysubstituted pyridine derivatives has been developed via Knoevenagel-type reaction and subsequent 675 electrocyclization of the Blaise reaction intermediates and 3-formylchromones. Abstract:An efficient protocol was developed for the synthesis of fused heterocyclic multiring compounds pyrrolo[1,2-a]quinolin-1(2H)-ones via a AuBr3/AgSbF6-catalvzed cascade transformation. Significantly, the strategy affords a straightforward and efficient approach to construction of tricyclic lactam molecular architectures in which two new C-C bonds and one new C-N bond are formed in a one-pot synthetic operation from simple starting materials. Moreover, a broad spectrum of substrates can participate in the process effectively to produce the desired products in good yields and with excellent regio- and chemoselectivities.

Abstract:With the well‐documented chemical and biological applications, piperidine and pyridine are among the most important N‐heterocycles, and a new synthetic strategy, especially one with an alternative bond‐forming design, is of general interest. Using the gold‐catalyzed intermolecular condensation of amine and diyne‐ene, we report herein the first example of enantioselective 1,2‐dihydropyridine synthesis through a formal [3+2+1] fashion (up to 95 % yield, up to 99 % e.e.).

Abstract:A series of polysubstituted pyrroles were rapidly synthesized in moderate to good yields via catalyst-free one-pot three-component reaction of 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds with primary amines and nitrostyrenes by using liquid-assisted grinding. This protocol provides several advantages over the conventional chemical synthesis, such as simple work-up procedure, wide substrate scope, short reaction time, and environmental friendliness. Structures of polysubstituted pyrroles were confirmed by H-1 NMR, C-13 NMR, and ESI-MS studies.

Abstract:An easy two-step, one-pot synthesis of halogenated trifluoromethylated pyrroles is realized by sequential intermolecular hydroamination reaction of 2-trifluoromethyl-1,3-enynes with aliphatic primary amines under mild reaction conditions, and NXS mediated oxidative cyclization of the hydroamination product. Abstract:Ruthenium‐catalyzed and K2S2O8‐mediated synthesis of diverse sulfonylated 5‐aroyl‐2‐arylpyridines was developed through one‐pot stepwise annulation of two molecules of β‐ketosulfones and N,N‐dimethylformamide (DMF) under the sealed tube conditions. In the overall process, DMF acts as the synthon of one carbon and one imino moiety in the construction of pyridine skeleton via cascade formation of single (C‐C/C‐N) and double (C=C/C=N) bonds under refluxing DMF conditions. Plausible reaction mechanism is proposed and discussed.

Abstract:A highly efficient Au(I)-catalyzed cascade reaction between bispropargylic alcohols and pyridine-N-oxides has been realized. The reaction process involved a gold(I)-catalyzed sequential oxidation/Pinacol rearrangement/oxacyclization. Moreover, 1,2-aryl, 1,2-alkyl, or 1,2-vinyl migration was favored over 1,2-alkynyl in the crucial gold(I)-catalyzed Pinacol rearrangement step. A range of 2,4,5-trisubstituted 3(2H)-furanones were synthesized in high yields (up to 88%) with excellent regioselectivities (up to >19:1) under mild reaction conditions.
