Abstract:Rh(III)-catalyzed C(sp(3)) - H bond aminocarbonylation of 8-methylquinolines and isocyanates has been realized under mild conditions. This approach is applicable to different aryl and alkyl isocyanates, leading to the synthesis of various alpha-quinolinyl amide compounds in moderate to excellent yields. A plausible mechanism for this transformation is proposed according to the experimental results obtained.

Abstract:Asymmetric expansion: A catalytic asymmetric ring-expansion reaction of the title compounds occurs in the presence of a Sc(OTf)(3) catalyst bearing an N,N'-dioxide-based ligand. Highly functionalized 2-quinolone derivatives containing a chiral C4-quaternary stereocenter were obtained in high yields and high levels of selectivity under mild reaction conditions (see scheme; Tf=trifluoromethanesulfonyl).

Abstract:Utilizing simple precursors for the exquisite construction of molecules with diversity and complexity is urgent. Herein, a novel A3-X type reaction for functionalized 3-haloquinolines has been developed by PhI (OAc)2-mediated four-component tandem addition/cyclization/oxidation/aromatization process with simple aromatic amine, aldehyde, alkyne and halide salt. Broad functional group tolerance, very mild condition, easy for further transformation illustrate the concision, high efficiency and practicability of this A3-X type reaction.

Abstract:An efficient indium-mediated cascade annulation reaction of 2-azidoaryl aldehydes with propargyl bromides is reported. The aromatic 5/6/6-fused heterocycles, [1,2,3]triazolo[1,5-a]quinoline derivatives, could be constructed in one pot in moderate yields with a broad substrate scope. Mechanistic studies indicated that the reaction proceeded through allenol formation, azide-allene [3 + 2] cycloaddition, and dehydration. The synthetic potential of the products including the denitrogenative functionalization and the Pd-catalyzed coupling reactions has also been explored.

Abstract:An effective approach to access dyadic 1,3-oxazinan-2-ones 8a-8c and 4,4a,5,6-tetrahydro-[1,3]oxazino [3,4-a]quinolin-1(3H)-ones 8d-8h was developed through Sc(OTf)(3)-catalyzed intramolecular cyclization from tert-butoxycarbonyl to acyliminium ion 7a-7j. A variety of substituted N,O-acetals, with different ring size, proved to be suitable substrates for this transformation, and a series of (4aS,6S,7R)-6-OTBS-7-substituted-hexahydropyrrolo[1,2-c][1,3]oxazin-1-ones 11a-11j and other chiral dyadic 1,3-oxazinan-2-ones 8i, 8j, 11k were synthesized in moderate yields with excellent diastereoselectivities (dr > 99:1). Moreover, 2,5-trans-products 11a-11j were obtained through this interesting Lewis acid-catalyzed intramolecular cyclization process. (C) 2021 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
