Abstract:A Schiff base hollow covalent organic framework (COF) was used for anchoring Pd(II) to synthesize the Pd@COF-TB nanocatalyst. Then, the as-synthesized Pd@COF-TB catalyst has been meticulously characterized using several methods. Thereafter, the catalytic performance of the Pd@COF-TB species regarding Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reactions was examined, and the corresponding products were obtained with good to excellent yields. Besides, the Pd@COF-TB catalyst could be recovered conveniently and reused at least eight times without obvious decrease in activity and selectivity. More importantly, the leaching of Pd during the reaction process could be negligible, which is crucially important when preparing bioactive species.

Abstract:Well dispersed Pd nanoparticles supported on amino functionalized metal-organic frameworks MIL-53(Al)-NH2 (Al(OH)[H2N-BDC], H2N-BDC=2-aminoterephthalic acid, MIL=Materials of Institut Lavoisier) were prepared using a direct anionic exchange approach and subsequent reduction with NaBH4. The Pd/MIL-53(Al)-NH2 catalyst exhibitted high activity and good stability for Suzuki–Miyaura cross-coupling reaction.

Abstract:Nanoporous PdCu (NP-PdCu) was prepared by the dealloying strategy from a PdCuAl ternary alloy precursor and characterized systematically using SEM, TEM, XRD, and XPS. NP-PdCu was demonstrated to be a competent self-supported heterogenous catalyst for Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling, affording a series of synthetically valuable biaryl compounds in good to excellent yields. This catalyst could be easily separated from the product via centrifugation and reused several times without obvious loss of catalytic performance.

Abstract:Palladium nanoparticles (Pd NPs) supported on a cerium-based metal–organic framework Ce-MOF-801 (Pd/Ce-MOF-801) was prepared using an incipient wetness impregnation strategy. Multiple analytical techniques were used to investigate the physicochemical properties of Pd/Ce-MOF-801. Afterwards, its catalytic efficiency in the Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction between different haloarenes and phenylboronic acid was assessed. The developed Pd/Ce-MOF-801 displayed a high catalytic performance at 318 K and in the presence of K 2 CO 3 as well as aqueous ethanol (as a solvent), much superior to Pd/Ce-BTC as well as the analogs reported in the literature by comprehensively comparing the catalytic activity and the relationship between reaction temperature and catalyst dosage. Moreover, the catalyst exhibited negligible Pd species leaching and was capable of being recycled in eight successive runs without any decay in reactivity. Such protocol has the advantages of ambient reaction conditions and tolerance to various substrates with various functional groups.

Abstract:Palladium (Pd)-based catalysts are essential to drive high-performance Suzuki coupling reactions,which are powerful tools for the synthesis of functional organic compounds.Herein,we developed a solution-rapid-annealing process to stabilize nitrogen-mesoporous carbon supported Pd sin-gle-atom/cluster (Pd/NMC) material,which provided a catalyst with superior performance for Suzuki coupling reactions.In comparison with commercial palladium/carbon (Pd/C) catalysts,the Pd/NMC catalyst exhibited significantly boosted activity (100％ selectivity and 95％ yield) and ex-cellent stability (almost no decay in activity after 10 reuse cycles) for the Suzuki coupling reactions of chlorobenzenes,together with superior yield and excellent selectivity in the fields of the board scope of the reactants.Moreover,our newly developed rapid annealing process of precursor solu-tions is applied as a generalized method to stabilize metal clusters (e.g.Pd,Pt,Ru),opening new possibilities in the construction of efficient highly dispersed metal atom and sub-nanometer cluster catalysts with high performance.

Abstract:A palladium catalyst supported on 2-aminopyridine functionalized cellulose was synthesized and fully characterized by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy, transmission electron microscope, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis and X-ray photoelectron spectrometry. This catalyst can be applied in the Suzuki cross-coupling reaction of aryl halides with arylboronic acids in 50% ethanol to afford biaryls in good yields, and easily recycled by simple filtration after reaction without the loss of metal Pd.

Abstract:Palladium-based carbon catalysts (Pd/C) can be potentially applied as an efficient catalyst for Suzuki–Miyaura and Mizoroki–Heck coupling reactions. Herein, a variety of catalysts of palladium on activated carbon were prepared by varying the content of ‘Pd’ via an in situ reduction method, using hydrogen as a reducing agent. The as-prepared catalysts (0.5 wt % Pd/C, 1 wt % Pd/C, 2 wt % Pd/C and 3 wt % Pd/C) were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) and Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) analyses. The catalysts were tested as a coupling catalyst for Suzuki–Miyaura coupling reactions involving aryl halides and phenyl boronic acid. The optimization of the catalyst by varying the palladium content on the activated carbon yielded Pd/C catalysts with very high catalytic activity for Suzuki reactions of aryl halides and a Mizoroki–Heck cross-coupling reaction of 4-bromoanisol and acrylic acid in an aqueous medium. A high ‘Pd’ content and uniform ‘Pd’ impregnation significantly affected the activity of the catalysts. The catalytic activity of 3% Pd/C was found to make it a more efficient catalyst when compared with the other synthesized Pd/C catalysts. Furthermore, the catalyst reusability was also tested for Suzuki reactions by repeatedly performing the same reaction using the recovered catalyst. The 3% Pd/C catalyst displayed better reusability even after several reactions.

Abstract:Because of the intrinsic advantages, Suzuki coupling reactions have been one of the most popular coupling reactions in organic synthesis, however developing a high‐performance heterogeneous catalyst for Suzuki coupling reactions in aqueous media at low temperature (e.g. room temperature) is still a challenge. Herein, a heterogeneous catalyst with coordinated Pd as active site and a designed conjugated phenanthroline based porous polymer (CPP) as support was fabricated. Systematically investigation on CPP support by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT‐IR), Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), N2 adsorption–desorption isotherm and Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) show that the derived CPP catalyst support owns a porous structure, moderately good surface area (141 m2/g) and an excellent thermal stability. As a heterogeneous catalyst for the synthesis of biphenyl derivatives via Suzuki coupling, Pd/CPP achieves an excellent catalytic performance and recycling ability towards Suzuki reaction of various reactants at room temperature in ethanol‐water medium.

Abstract:Aryl triflate is a type of facile and readily available compounds, which could be used as an alternative substrate for Suzuki cross coupling. In this manuscript, a novel ppm-Pd-Fe/C catalyst has been developed by reduction of palladium acetate and iron trichloride with aqueous hydrazine in situ and supported on activated charcoal. In combined with Sphos, and metal zinc as additives, this catalyst, with 300ppm palladium loading, could be applied in the Suzuki cross coupling between aryl triflates with aryl neopentylglycolboronates.

Abstract:<p>The Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction is an effective process for C-C bond formation in organic synthesis. Herein, we report a NiO nanodot-decorated Pd/SiC catalyst, synthesized by atomic layer deposition, which shows high photocatalytic activity for the Suzuki-Miyaura coupling of both aryl bromides and chlorides with phenylboronic acid at 30 °C in air. The Mott-Schottky contact in SiC/Pd enhances the rapid transfer of the photogenerated electrons from SiC to Pd nanoparticles. Moreover, the energy different between the highest occupied molecular orbital of the ultrafine NiO nanodots and the Fermi level of Pd forces a spontaneous electron transfer from NiO to Pd. As a result, the concentrated electrons in the Pd nanoparticles can facilitate the cleavage of C-Br or C-Cl bonds, which normally requires rather high temperatures in thermal processes. The holes left on the SiC support can assist the cleavage of the C-B bond.</p>

Abstract:It is highly challenging but desirable to develop efficient heterogeneous catalysts for C-Cl bond activation in coupling reactions. Here, we succeeded in synthesizing bimetallic Pd-Au nanoparticles through a convenient one-pot wet chemical route. The composition and alloyed structure of the as-prepared nanoparticles were fully characterized. We have evaluated the catalytic activity of these Pd-Au alloy catalysts in Buchwald-Hartwig reactions of aryl chlorides. The excellent catalytic activity of the as-obtained Pd-Au nanoparticles indicates that exploiting the catalytic power of nano-alloy catalysts could enable effective C-Cl bond activation suitable for cross-coupling reactions.

Abstract:The catalytic activity of [(Ph2P-o-C6H4)2N]PdCl in aerobic aqueous Suzuki couplings is described. Though hydrophobic, this molecular catalyst is competent in cross-coupling reactions of arylboronic acids with a variety of electronically activated, unactivated, and deactivated aryl iodides, bromides, and chlorides upon heating in aqueous solutions under aerobic conditions to give biphenyl derivatives without the necessity of amphiphiles even in the presence of an excess amount of mercury.

Abstract:Zinc oxide nanowires were synthesized and impregnated with trace amounts of palladium ions by adsorption, which was then employed as a heterogeneous catalyst in the Suzuki reaction. To obtain an in-depth understanding of the structure and properties of the ZnO nanowires and the resultant catalyst, different analysis techniques were performed. The as-synthesized catalyst demonstrated exceptional efficiency in promoting the reaction between aryl halides and arylboronic acids, enabling the achievement of biphenyl derivatives in high yields ranging between 82% and 99%. The analysis conducted using transmission electron microscopy demonstrated the formation of palladium nanoparticles during the reaction, confirming their role as the active species driving the catalytic transformation. Further investigation was carried out to examine the effect of the support on the catalytic activity of the catalyst. The results indicated that the morphology and crystallographic structure of zinc oxide had a significant impact on the catalytic activity of the prepared catalyst. The catalytic performance of PdCl2/ZnONWs, where palladium chloride immobilized on ZnO nanowires, was found to be exceptional. The catalyst demonstrated the ability to be recovered and reused up to three times without a noticeable decline in its catalytic activity. Additionally, the loading of palladium species could be reduced to 7.6 mol part per million. Abstract:A palladium catalyst system based on PdCl2(PPh3)2 or PdCl2(dppf) is reported for Suzuki‐type coupling of both N‐aryl and alkyl benzotriazinones with aryl/alkenyl boronic acids to afford a series of ortho‐aryl/alkenyl benzamides in yields up to 99%, showing improvements on catalytic efficiency, substrate scope and practicality. Scope and limitations of the improved protocol have been demonstrated with more than 40 examples, including a multigram‐scale synthesis of activated o‐biphenyl amide. Large electronic and steric effects from the boronic acid counterpart have been observed, implying the transmetallation from boron to palladium should be involved in the rate‐determining step in catalytic cycle.

Abstract:The palladium-catalyzed Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reaction is one of the most versatile and powerful tools for constructing synthetically useful unsymmetrical aryl-aryl bonds. In designing a Pd cluster as a candidate for efficient catalysis and mechanistic investigations, it was envisaged to study a case intermediate between, although very different from, the "classic" Pd(0)L-n and Pd nanoparticle families of catalysts. In this work, the cluster [Pd3Cl(PPh2)(2)(PPh3)3](+)[SbF6](-) (abbreviated Pd3CI) was synthesized and fully characterized as a remarkably robust framework that is stable up to 170 degrees C and fully air-stable. Pd3CI was found to catalyze the Suzuki-Miyaura C-C cross-coupling of a variety of aryl bromides and arylboronic acids under ambient aerobic conditions. The reaction proceeds while keeping the integrity of the cluster framework all along the catalytic cycle via the intermediate Pd3Ar, as evidenced by mass spectrometry and quick X-ray absorption fine structure. In the absence of the substrate under the reaction conditions, the Pd3OH species was detected by mass spectrometry, which strongly favors the "oxo-Pd" pathway for the transmetalation step involving substitution of the Cl ligand by OH followed by binding of the OH ligand with the arylboronic acid. The kinetics of the Suzuki Miyaura reaction shows a lack of an induction period, consistent with the lack of cluster dissociation. This study may provide new perspectives for the catalytic mechanisms of C-C cross-coupling reactions catalyzed by metal clusters.
