Abstract:An experimental set-up was built, on which a bench-scale experimental was conducted to study the effects of HCI, SO2, NO and O-2 on the speciation distribution of mercury in simulated coat-fired flue gases. The test method used here for mercury speciation was Ontario Hydro Method. The speciation distribution of mercury in different coal-fired flue gas systems was studied in typical constituent flue gas systems. The conclusions were as follows: HCI was the key substance that reacted with Hg vapor. In the coal-fired flue gas systems without HCI, the conversion ratio of Hg2+ to total Hg would become lower with reaction temperature becoming higher; O-2, NO and SO2 could slightly praise the conversion ratio of Hg2+ to total Hg. In the coal-fired flue gas systems containing HCI, the conversion ratio of Hg2+ to total Hg would become higher at elevated temperature; SO2 could decrease the conversion ratio of Hg2+ to total Hg; HCI, NO, O-2 could enhance oxidation of Hg vapor.
