Abstract:We solve the B.S. equation of glueballs under instantaneous approximation. With the B.S wave function obtained we calculate the decay width of glueballs to two pseudoscalar mesons, $\Gamma(\pi\pi)$, $\Gamma(kk)$ and $\Gamma(\eta\eta)$. $\Gamma(\eta\eta^\prime)$ from QCD anomaly is also estimated.

Abstract:We study two-body decays of a scalar glueball. We show that in QCD a spin-0 pure glueball (a state with only gluons) cannot decay into a pair of light quarks if chiral symmetry holds exactly, i.e., the decay amplitude is chirally suppressed. However, this chiral suppression does not materialize itself at the hadron level such as in decays into π+π- and K+K-. We show this explicitly in the two cases with the glueball much lighter and much heavier than the QCD scale using low-energy theorems and perturbative QCD. For a heavy glueball, using QCD factorization based on an effective Lagrangian, we find that the hadronization into ππ and KK leads to a large difference between Br(π+π-) and Br(K+K-); even the decay amplitude is not chirally suppressed. Our results can provide some understanding of the partonic contents if Br(ππ) or Br(KK̄) is measured reliably.

Abstract:We study the radiative decay of Y into a scalar glueball Y-->gammaG(s) using QCD factorization. We find that for this process the nonperturbative effects can be factorized into a matrix element well defined in nonrelativistic QCD (NRQCD) and the gluon distribution amplitude. The same NRQCD matrix element appears also in the leptonic decay of Y and therefore can be determined from data. In the asymptotic limit the gluon distribution amplitude is known up to a normalization constant. Using a QCD sum-rule calculation for the normalization constant, we obtain Br(Y-->gammaG(s)) to be in the range (1-2)x10(-3). We also discuss some of the implications for Y-->gammaf(i) decays. Near future data from CLEO-III can provide crucial information about scalar glueball properties.

Abstract:The widths for pionic decays of the lowest two excited doublets (0(+), 1(+)) and (1(+), 2(+)) of heavy mesons are studied with quantum Chromodynamics sum rules in the heavy quark effective theory. The interpolating currents used allow us to distinguish the two 1(+) states without contamination in the infinite mass Limit. The soft pion approximation is not used in the calculations.

Abstract:General formulas for decay widths of heavy mesons with arbitrary spin and parity to the heavy meson ground state plus a {pi} or {ital K} are derived in the leading order of the 1/{ital M} expansion in the relativistic BS equation. Numerical results for various partial decay widths of 1{sup +}, 2{sup +} doublets in the {ital D}, {ital D}{sub {ital s}}, {ital B}, and {ital B}{sub {ital s}} series are obtained with a kernel used previously to obtain the spectra of low-lying states in these series, in good agreement with experiments. The results are in satisfactory agreement with the experimental data when they are available.

Abstract:We calculate radiative decay rates of mesons and glueballs in the top-down holographic Witten-Sakai-Sugimoto model with finite quark masses. After assessing to what extent this model agrees or disagrees with experimental data, we present its predictions for so far undetermined decay channels. Contrary to widespread expectations, we obtain sizeable two-photon widths of scalar, tensor, and pseudoscalar glueballs, suggesting in particular that the observed two-photon rate of the glueball candidate $f_0(1710)$ is not too large to permit a glueball interpretation, but could be even much higher. We also discuss the so-called exotic scalar glueball, which in the Witten-Sakai-Sugimoto model is too broad to match either of the main glueball candidates $f_0(1500)$ and $f_0(1710)$, but might be of interest with regard to the alternative scenario of the so-called fragmented scalar glueball. Employing the exotic scalar glueball for the latter, much smaller two-photon rates are predicted for the ground-state glueball despite a larger total width; relatively large two-photon rates would then apply to the excited scalar glueball described by the predominantly dilatonic scalar glueball. In either case, the resulting contributions to the muon $g-2$ from hadronic light-by-light scattering involving glueball exchanges are small compared to other single meson exchanges, of the order of $\lesssim 10^{-12}$.

Abstract:Scalar [1] and tensor [2] glueballs created in J/ψ radiative decays are studied in quenched lattice QCD. Using two anisotropic lattices to approach the continuum limit, we compute the relevant form factors responsible for the decay rates for J/ψ → γG0++ and J/ψ → γG2++ . Comparing with the existing experimental data, it is argued that f0(1710) is a favorable candidate for scalar glueball. The decay rate for J/ψ → γG2++ is found to be quite substantial. A comprehensive search in the tensor channel on BESIII is therefore suggested.
Decays of the tensor glueball in a chiral approach

Abstract:Glueballs remain an experimentally undiscovered prediction of QCD. Lattice QCD predicts a spectrum of glueballs, with the tensor $(J^{PC}=2^{++})$ glueball being the second lightest, behind the scalar glueball. From an effective hadronic model based on spontaneous and explicit chiral symmetry breaking, we compute decay ratios of the tensor glueball into various meson decay channels. We find the tensor glueball to primarily decay into 2 vector mesons, dominated by $\rho\rho$ and $K^*K^*$. These results are compared to experimental data of decay rates of spin 2 mesons. Based on this comparison we make statements on the eligibility of these mesons as potential tensor glueball candidates.

Abstract:We consider the vector and the pseudovector glueball in the top-down holographic model of large-$N_c$ QCD of Witten and their decays into ordinary mesons described by the D8 brane construction due to Sakai and Sugimoto. At leading order, the relevant interactions are determined exclusively by the Chern-Simons action of the D8 branes and are thus rigidly connected to the chiral anomaly and the Wess-Zumino-Witten terms. As found in a previous study of the pseudovector glueball, which we revisit and complete, the resulting decay widths are surprisingly large, implying that both the pseudovector and the vector glueball are very broad resonances, with a conspicuous dominance of decays into $a_1\rho$ and $K_1(1400) K^*$ in the case of the vector glueball. We also obtain a certain weak mixing of vector glueballs with ordinary vector mesons, but we conclude that it does not provide an explanation for the so-called $\rho\pi$ puzzle in charmonium decays.

Abstract:The most general form of covariant B-S wave functions and the corresponding integral equations for heavy mesons with arbitrary spin and parity are obtained in the infinite mass limit. A general formula for the I-W functions for transitions between states with arbitrary spin-parity and the ground state is given in terms of these wave functions. Using the covariant instantaneous approximation we apply this formulism to calculate I-W functionsr1/2,r3/2 and rates of processes in which a p or ? is emitted in the transitions 1-?0-, 0+?0-, 1+?1-.

Abstract:We theoretically evaluate the decay rates of a scalar glueball up to the order O(alpha(s)), where only two Feynman diagrams contribute and a special attention is paid on possible flavour SU(3) symmetry breaking in the process. It is concluded that the SU(3) flavour symmetry may be respected in any case. However, due to chiral suppression in G(0) -> (q) over barq, Gamma(G(0) -> (Q) over barq (q) over barq) very likely is larger than Gamma(G(0) -> (q) over barq). These results are supported by the experimental data on the decays of chi(c0)(1P) (0(++)). Based on this result, we propose a criterion to identify the scalar glueball.

Abstract:We study two- and three-gluon glueballs of $C=+$ using the method of QCD sum rules. We systematically construct their interpolating currents, and find that all the spin-1 currents of $C=+$ vanish. This suggests that the ground-state spin-1 glueballs of $C=+$ do not exist within the relativistic framework. We calculate masses of the two-gluon glueballs with $J^{PC} = 0^{\pm+}/2^{\pm+}$ and the three-gluon glueballs with $J^{PC} = 0^{\pm+}/2^{\pm+}$. We propose to search for the $J^{PC} = 0^{-+}/2^{-\pm}/3^{\pm-}$ three-gluon glueballs in their three-meson decay channels in future BESIII, GlueX, LHC, and PANDA experiments.

Abstract:The most general form of the Bethe-Salpeter (BS) wave functions for mesons of arbitrary spin and definite parity is given. Using the BS equation, the constraints on the BS wave function due to assuming the covariant instantaneous approximation are found. The application of the general formalism to heavy mesons is given and, in particular, the results from the spin SU(2) symmetry of the heavy quark are naturally obtained in the infinite quark mass limit.

Abstract:With the generalized factorization approximation, we calculate the branching ratios and CP asymmetries in B meson decays into two charmless pseudoscalar mesons. We give a new estimation of the matrix elements of (S+P)(S-P) current products with the PQCD method instead of equation of motion. We find that our results are comparatively smaller than those in the literature.

Abstract:We perform the first lattice QCD study on the radiative decay of the scalar glueball to the vector meson $\phi$ in the quenched approximation. The calculations are carried out on three gauge ensembles with different lattice spacings, which enable us to do the continuum extrapolation. We first revisit the radiative $J/\psi$ decay into the scalar glueball $G$ and obtain the partial decay width $\Gamma(J/\psi \to \gamma G)=0.578(86)~\text{keV}$ and the branching fraction $\text{Br}(J/\psi \to \gamma G) = 6.2(9)\times 10^{-3}$. We then extend the similar calculation to the process $G\to \gamma \phi$ and get the partial decay width $\Gamma(G \to \gamma \phi)= 0.074(47)~\text{keV}$, which implies that the combined branching fraction of $J/\psi\to\gamma G\to \gamma\gamma\phi$ is as small as $\mathcal{O}(10^{-9})$ such that this process is hardly detected by the BESIII experiment even with the large $J/\psi$ sample of $\mathcal{O}(10^{10})$. With the vector meson dominance model, the two-photon decay width of the scalar glueball is estimated to be $\Gamma(G\to\gamma\gamma)=0.53(46)~\text{eV}$, which results in a large stickiness $S(G)\sim \mathcal{O}(10^4)$ of the scalar glueball by assuming the stickiness of $f_2(1270)$ to be one.

Phenomenological Analysis of B -> Pp Decays with Qcd Factorization

Abstract:In this paper, we study nonleptonic charmless B decays to two light pseudoscalar mesons within the frame of QCD factorization, including the contributions from the chirally enhanced power corrections and weak annihilation. Predictions for the CP-averaged branching ratios and CP-violating asymmetries are given. Within the reasonable range of the parameters, we find that our predictions for the branching ratios of B-->PP are consistent with the present experimental data. But because of the logarithmic divergences at the end points in the hard spectator scatterings and weak annihilation, there are still large uncertainties in these predictions.
Study of the Pseudoscalar Glueball in J/ψ Radiative Decays

Abstract:We aim to explore the production rate of the pseudoscalar glueball in $J/\psi$ radiative decay by lattice QCD in quenched approximation. The calculation is performed on three anisotropic lattices with the spatial lattice spacing ranging from 0.222(2) fm to 0.110(1) fm. As a calibration of some systematical uncertainties, we first extract the $M1$ form factor $\hat{V}(0)$ of the process $J/\psi\to\gamma\eta_{c}$ and get the result $\hat{V}(0)=1.933(41)$ in the continuum limit, which gives the partial width $\Gamma(J/\psi\to\gamma\eta_{c})=2.47(11)$ keV. These results are in agreement with that of previous lattice studies. As for the pseudoscalar glueball $G_{0^{-+}}$, its mass is derived to be $2.395(14)$ GeV, and the form factor $\hat{V}(0)$ of the process $J/\psi\to\gamma G_{0^{-+}}$ is determined to be $\hat{V}(0)=0.0246(43)$ after continuum extrapolation. Finally, the production rate of the pseudoscalar glueball is predicted to be $2.31(90)\times10^{-4}$, which is much smaller than that of conventional light $q\bar{q}$ $\eta$ states. After the subtraction of the phase space factor, the couplings of $J/\psi X\gamma$ are similar where $X$ stands for $\eta$ states and the pseudoscalar glueball. Possibly, the $U_{A}(1)$ anomaly plays an important role for the large couplings of gluons to the flavor singlet $\eta$ states in $J/\psi$ radiative decays.

Abstract:In this paper, we perform a global analysis of B-->PP and PV decays with the QCD factorization approach. It is encouraging to observe that the predictions of QCD factorization are in good agreement with experiment. The best fit gamma is around 79 degrees. The penguin-diagram-to-tree-diagram ratio \P-pipi/T-pipi\ of pi(+)pi(-) decays is preferred to be larger than 0.3. We also show the confidence levels for some interesting channels: B-0-->pi(0)pi(0), K+K-, and B+-->omegapi(+), omegaK(+). For B-->piK(*) decays, they are expected to have smaller branching ratios with more precise measurements.
