Abstract:Based on the requirements of the optical system of a space solar telescope,an adjust- ment mechanism of imaging lens's focal length model was designed,linear movement of imaging lens was completed by step motor and screw,and linear precision and orientation precision were the key parameters in design process.The working principles of the control system of adjustment mechanism of imaging lens's focal length were also presented,the system included three parts:operation subsys tern,instruction transformation subsystem and driving subsystem.Operational instructions were sent by PC COM port of operation subsystem,translated by instruction transformation subsystem,and at last competed by step motor of the driving subsystem,at the same time,orientation errors were amended by COM communication program,so the precision of the imaging lens's focal length is achieved.

Abstract:Based on the previous work, a modified model of adjustment mechanism of the imaging lens's focal length of a space solar telescope is designed. Analysis on the environment and contact ifluence of the modified model are also presented in the paper. The design principle is illustrated in the article. The movement of the image lens is controlled by the step motor and screw. According to the result of the contact analysis, the modified mechanism is workable.

Abstract:This paper deals with a new type of control system for a continuous access rotating-mirror high speed camera. New design of most circuits and the fast-open shutter of the system has been adopted. The control system has characteristics of stability and reliability, accurate controlling, and rather high integration and automation. The system has been used for Model ZDF-180 rotating-mirror high speed camera, with satisfied operational results. In the study of high speed phenomena, such as explosions and discharges, etc., the continuous access rotating-mirror high speed camera is an indispensable photographic recorder. With wide applications of high speed photographic technique, the environments where this camera is used are more complicated so the following performances of the controlling sys-tem are required to be further raised: 1. the control accuracy of the system (synchronous accuracy and measuring accuracy of photographic frequency); 2. the opening speed of the fast-open shutter, so as to guarantee enough effective recording time; 3. the ability of anti-interference. The control system is made to be more stable and reliable; 4. the improvement of performances of the system by adopting new components, so it is more handy to be operated. In order to meet the requirements mentioned above, a control system has been designed. It consists of three parts: the main control, the fast-open shutter and its control, motor control driven by the rotating-mirror. The principle block diagram and working process of the each part are introduced separately as follows:
Driving Techniques for High Frame Rate Ccd Camera

Abstract:This paper describes a high-frame rate CCD camera capable of operating at 100 frames/s. This camera utilizes Kodak KAI-0340, an interline transfer CCD with 640(vertical)×480(horizontal) pixels. Two output ports are used to read out CCD data and pixel rates approaching 30 MHz. Because of its reduced effective opacity of vertical charge transfer registers, interline transfer CCD can cause undesired image artifacts, such as random white spots and smear generated in the registers. To increase frame rate, a kind of speed-up structure has been incorporated inside KAI-0340, then it is vulnerable to a vertical stripe effect. The phenomena which mentioned above may severely impair the image quality. To solve these problems, some electronic methods of eliminating these artifacts are adopted. Special clocking mode can dump the unwanted charge quickly, then the fast readout of the images, cleared of smear, follows immediately. Amplifier is used to sense and correct delay mismatch between the dual phase vertical clock pulses, the transition edges become close to coincident, so vertical stripes disappear. Results obtained with the CCD camera are shown.

Abstract:Under special working conditions, a meshed board at the entrance of the feeder was designed and set to quantitatively control the flow of a superfine material with special properties. For a given aperture size and vibration acceleration, the relations between material flow, flow time and vibration frequency were studied by experiments. And the effect of the dynamic characteristics of the electromagnetic switch on the quantitative controlled material flow was analyzed theoretically. Based on the results of experiment and calculation, a design project of automatic feeder that can realize quantitative control of material flow was designed.

Abstract:High order flexible feed could not be realized with the existing feed planning method conveniently and effectively which made against enhancing kinematical accuracy and suppressing vibration for high feed motion.Aiming at this conundrum,feed control algorithm with piecewise linear continuous jounce such as second derivative of acceleration was proposed.According to the planning parameters,feed motion was classified into transitional courses with and without constant acceleration phase,and the realization modes for each one were given separately with motion stroke.The curvature of a NURBS curve was analyzed,and its local maximum was used to split the curve into several sub-curves.The feasible feed for each curvature local maximum was determined,and the feed speed was scheduled with the proposed method and S curve algorithm for each sub-curve respectively based on displacement compatibility expression,as well as the results from them were compared.The result indicated that the proposed method could plan high order flexible feed motion and improve chord height precision significantly for high speed interpolation parameter contour.

Abstract:An autofocus system applied to microscope has been designed, which is based on the analysis of analog video signals' processing. A multi-feedback band-pass active filter retains high frequency components of analog video signals from CCD, then high frequency components that represent image details information are amplified and performed integral operation, which is defined as focusing measure. After A/D transformation a MCU controls the focusing procedure and drives a stepping motor to find focused-position. The selection of bandwidths of filter, selection of focusing windows, step-size in search and hill climbing algorithms are discussed and optimized to improve focus accuracy and shorten focus time.

Abstract:A novel CCD high speed videography system with brand-new concepts and techniques is developed by Zhejiang University recently. The system can send a series of short flash pulses to the moving object. All of the parameters, such as flash numbers, flash durations, flash intervals, flash intensities and flash colors, can be controlled according to needs by the computer. A series of moving object images frozen by flash pulses, carried information of moving object, are recorded by a CCD video camera, and result images are sent to a computer to be frozen, recognized and processed with special hardwares and softwares. Obtained parameters can be displayed, output as remote controlling signals or written into CD. The highest videography frequency is 30,000 images per second. The shortest image freezing time is several microseconds.The system has been applied to wide fields of energy,chemistry,medicine, biological engineering, aero-dynamics, explosion, multi-phase flow, mechanics,vibration,athletic training,weapon development and national defence engineering. It can also be used in production streamline to carry out the online, real-time monitoring and controlling.

Abstract:There should be flaws and defects on the inner surface during the producing period of a pipe, as well as contaminations and corrosions during the using period of it. A corresponding panoramic optical annular staring inspection system has been developed. It requires no rotating mechanism to exam the whole circumference of a cross section of the inner pipe surface at once, which results high speed inspection.There are two main subsystems in this inspection system, the panoramic optical annular staring imaging subsystem and driving robot subsystem. The Flat Cylinder Perspective (FCP) is the principle to image a panoramic annular view to a flat imagery, i.e. a cylinder of vision imaged is flat. Our imaging subsystem includes a panoramic annular lens (PAL), which is critical and used to implement the FCP, a series of image rotation lenses, a charge-coupled device (CCD) camera, and an illuminating light-emitting diode (LED) ring. The CCD camera sending the signal to a personal computer (PC) via VGA signal results a real time inspection.The driving robot subsystem is a fine designed complicated mechanism including a subassembly of stepper motor. It can drive the inspection system forward and backward continuously in the pipe along the axial direction. The experimental system reported in this paper has the following specifications: average detection resolution of 0.5 mm at the circumference direction and 1.0 mm at the axial direction of a pipe, and inspection speed of 15 mm/s.

Abstract:A compact varifocal panoramic annular lens (PAL) system based on the four-component mechanical zoom method is proposed, which solves the problem that the traditional PAL system cannot zoom in to the region of interest. By moving the zoom group and the compensation group, our design achieves continuous zooming, in which the focal length changes from 3.8 to 6 mm. It can keep the position of the image surface unchanged while maintaining a compact structure. The system has a field of view (FoV) of 25°-100° in wide-angle mode and an FoV of 25°-65° in telephoto mode. The modulation transfer function of the wide-angle view is higher than 0.22 at 147 lp/mm. The F-theta distortion is less than 3%, and the relative illuminance is higher than 0.9 in the zoom process. Compared with the zoom PAL system with multiple free-form aspheric surfaces, the proposed system uses multiple spherical lenses and only one Q-type asphere lens to achieve outstanding panoramic zoom imaging results. It is practical and straightforward, easy to manufacture, detect, and mass produce.

Abstract:''Model 3H-2100 CCD High Speed Videography System'' is developed by Zhejiang University recently. This system has high videographic frequency, strong ''freezing'' ability, large range of videographic parameters that can be controlled according to needs. The problems of measuring moving object have been solved with quick, online, real-time and automatic method by this system.Principles of the system are introduced briefly; Successful experiments of the system such as flying bullet test, target hitting test, rotation test are illustrated; Problems of choosing videographic parameters, searching factors influencing image resolution and measuring presicion are discussed. Potential application fields are also introduced in this paper.

Abstract:Compared with visible light imaging systems, the infrared imaging systems have the advantages of strong fogging ability, especially in the high-altitude water vapor and haze environment. and the medium-wave infrared cooling detectors have the advantage of low cost compared to long waves. Therefore, in recent years, The demand for medium-wave infrared continuous zoom systems is increasing. In this design, based on the medium-wave infrared optical system, and summarizing the advantages and disadvantages of the previous zoom structure, a zoom mechanism in the form of a cam and guide was proposed. The cam mechanism, zoom guide mechanism, and compensation guide mechanism were described in detail in this paper. The detailed analysis of the torque demand during zooming was performed. Ansys workbench was used to analyze the main components of the zoom mechanism and the stray light of the system was proposed. The adjustment results show that this kind of structure can realize medium-wave infrared continuous zooming, and the the amount of optical axis shaking during zooming is less than 0.3mrad, which meets the design requirements, and the proposed stray light suppression method effectively suppresses the system's spurious radiation and improves the lens's imaging quality; impact and vibration simulation show that the strength and stiffness of the structure meet the requirements of the mechanical environment, and the imaging system has stable performance.

Abstract:This article presents a novel pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) camera with extended depth-of-field (DoF) to address the limited DoF of the images taken by the zoom lens in zoomed-in monitoring. Our concept pioneers the integration of the through-focus scanning (TFS) mechanism and the high-speed pan-tilt mechanism based on the Galvano mirror. The TFS mechanism consists of a variable zoom lens, a servo motor, and a gear mechanism, enabling the system scans at object distances between 3 and 10 m at 0.067 s per TFS process. During each TFS, the high-speed camera captures 16 frames at different focus. A high-frame-rate (HFR) focus stacking algorithm based on GPU is implemented, generating 15 frames/s DoF-extended zoomed-in images. The two-axis Galvano mirror enables ultra-fast and precise pan-tilt adjustment between adjacent TFS processes while stably remaining stationary during the TFS process. The comparative experiment showcased the advanced performance of simultaneous focus on multiple objects at varying distances. The functional experiment demonstrated its capabilities in swift pan-tilt adjustment with real-time DoF-extended zoomed-in image generation, highlighting the proposed system's potential for small object tracking and detection.

Abstract:In this paper, a digital array high-speed camera system is designed and applied in dynamic fracture experiment. First, the design scheme for 3*3 array digital high-speed camera system is presented, including 3*3 array light emitting diode (LED) light source unit, 3*3 array charge coupled device (CCD) camera unit, timing delay control unit, optical imaging unit and impact loading unit. Second, the influence of geometric optical parameters on optical parallax is analyzed based on the geometric optical imaging mechanism. Finally, combining the method of dynamic caustics with the digital high-speed camera system, the dynamic fracture behavior of crack initiation and propagation in PMMA specimen under low-speed impact is investigated to verify the feasibility of the high-speed camera system.

Abstract:The cam-linkage mechanism is a typical transmission mechanism in mechanical science and is widely used in various automated production equipment. However, conventional modeling methods mainly focus on the design and dimensional synthesis of the cam-linkage mechanism in the slow-speed scenario. The influence of component dimensions is not taken into consideration. As a result, the model accuracy dramatically falls when analyzing large-size cam-linkage mechanisms, especially in high-speed environments. The kinematic aspects of cam design have been investigated, but there are few studies discussing the motion characteristic and accuracy analysis models of the large-size cam-linkage mechanism under high-speed scenarios. To handle such issues, this paper proposes a parameter optimization methodology for the design analysis of the large-size high-speed cam-linkage mechanism considering kinematic performance. Firstly, the mathematical model of the cam five-bar mechanism is presented. The cam curve and motion parameters are solved forward with linkage length and output speed. Then, a particle swarm-based multi-objective optimization method is developed to find the optimal structure parameters and output speed curve to minimize cam pressure angle and roller acceleration and maximize linkage mechanism drive angle. A Monte Carlo-based framework is put forward for the reliability and sensitivity analysis of kinematic accuracy. Finally, a transverse device of a sanitary product production line is provided to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed method. With the parameter optimization, the productivity of the transverse device is doubled, from 600 pieces per minute (PPM) to 1200 PPM.

Abstract:Abstract Because of its compact structure and reliable performance, the cam mechanism has been widely used in automatic machinery, such as automatic tool changing system, packaging machinery, automatic production line, automatic switching system and so on. At present, a variety of common drive and control devices have been developed with arc cam as the core component. The cam indexing mechanism is a new type of transmission device to realize high speed and high precision intermittent indexing motion. It is widely used and has been studied by more and more scholars at home and abroad, and has achieved remarkable results. At present, its theoretical research has matured. However, because the profile of indexing cam is a non-spiral surface in space, it brings inconvenience to the design and manufacture of cam. When the arc cam is damaged and the design parameters of the original arc cam cannot be known, the original arc cam profile can only be obtained by measuring limited data. In the original parameterized design method, the profile of the arc cam is determined by the motion law of the follower. If the motion law curve of the follower can be obtained, the contour curve of the arc cam can be obtained in reverse. So the problem of solving the profile surface of the cam can be transformed into a follower which meets the requirements the curve of motion law. Taking the CAM Z175 as an example, this paper describes in detail the whole process of motion rule analysis, optimization of the motion law curve and simulation verification in CAM reverse design.

Abstract:Based on analysis and simulations, it is found that extremely high inertia forces will be generated in stamping machine when stroke speed falls in range for ultra high speed stamping machine if a regular crank-slider mechanism is used. This paper presents a design method to lower the inertia forces by using balancing structure. The effectiveness of the proposed structure is validated through simulations. An analytical method to evaluate performance of balancing structure is also presented. This work paves the way to develop ultra high speed stamping machine.

Abstract:When the follower′s mass,velocity and acceleration are so large that the pick power to overcome inertia becomes the main factor for deciding the input power of the cam mechanism′ driving motor,considering the inertial power changes from positive to negative periodically,we present a new mechanism which is named as kinematic energy conjugate combined cams mechanism.The mechanism consists of two cams connected rigidly and two followers moving separately,such that when the cams are rotating evenly,the sum of the kinetic energy of the two followers is constant.In this way,the initial power of the mechanism keeps zero,so the power of the driving motor and the fluctuation of the shaft speed can be reduced significantly.Finally,we discussed the condition under which the infinite acceleration and jerk do not exist in the mechanism,and an application example is given.

Abstract:According to the requirement of detector, a continuous zooming TV camera with a high resolution and a large zoom ratios used for precision strike was designed. In this paper, basis the selection of continuous zooming optical systems was discussed. Combing with PW method, the incipient structure was computed. Using the CODE V, the optimum design was done. Having analyzed the cam curve of this zooming system, a continuous zooming optical system meeting the technical requirements well was designed, which provided the technical support for the miniaturization of the structure and the stability of the optic axis. This continuous zooming optical system has been checked with image quality testing, real imaging and environment testing and the result showed that the image quality was well, the optic axis was stable and the system meet the requirement of detector well.

Abstract:X-ray picosecond framing photography using optical framing and deflection shuttering has been proposed and demonstrated in our laboratory for several years. Four frame dynamic images have been obtained with l7Opsec exposure time. The recent modification and developments of the image tube and camera are described. The aim of our modification is to decrease the exposure time and improve the dynamic spatial resolution. Resolution of 5 lp/mm has obtained. To dynamically test the frasming camera which uses demountable image tube, a mode locked Nd: YAG laser system with two stage second harmonic generator has been built. Secondary electron emission has been used to imitate the X-ray photoemission in the testing of framing camera.
