Abstract:Abstract In order to enhance the cultural beauty of highway landscape, the design method of highway landscape based on regional culture was studied. Firstly, the types of regional cultural elements in highway landscape are analyzed, and the carrier of regional culture and its adaptability are studied. Secondly, the principles and methods of regional culture presentation are discussed. Then, aiming at the tunnel and service area with the highest adaptability of the carrier, the highway landscape design points are analyzed. Finally, the application of regional culture in highway landscape design is studied in combination with Guangna expressway. The results show that landscape design based on regional culture is of positive significance to enhance the connotation of landscape culture and inherit the culture along the line.

Abstract:Driven by the rapid economic development, the development of transportation in China has begun to move towards mountainous areas. The climate environment, topography and landform of mountainous cities are different from those of plain areas. In mountainous cities, the area of opposite interchanges between expressways and urban roads is generally large, which has a certain contradiction with the topographic conditions of mountainous cities. Therefore, it is necessary to reasonably design the opposite interchanges between expressways and urban roads in mountainous cities. The author explores and analyzes the factors restricting the special-shaped interchange between expressway and urban road in mountainous cities and the main forms of special-shaped interchange, and puts forward a reasonable design scheme, hoping to make a smooth development of the special-shaped interchange in mountainous cities.

Abstract:With the integrated development of transportation and tourism, building tourism highways has become a new direction leading the transportation industry and also an important sector of green transportation. Currently, the planning, design and construction of tourism highways in China are at their early stage, and there are few relevant codes, specifications, and standards concerning the planning and design. This paper introduces the connotation of Tourism Highways, and clarifies the scope and principles of the planning and design. It puts forward the planning and design concept of coastal tourism highways, and carries out planning and design practices for coastal highways in Guangdong based on the concept.

Abstract:With economic development and social progress, geographic information science is playing a more and more important role in tourism development. Many spatial analysis methods have been used in planning and design of scenic development programs. In this paper, the application of geographic information systems is illustratedfrom three perspectives. DEM model, Voronoi diagram and Space syntax are used to help achieve suitable land use, rational scenic spots layout, and traffic systems, with which tourist split-flow may be attainable. This study enriches tourism planning methods, which may make tourism planning more scientific and operable.

Abstract:Considering the influence of the elevated expressway on the urban landscape and environment, the expressways within the central city area are often used in the tunnel type. There is a little study on this type of the access design now. The article systematically analyzes the main contents in the design of the urban tunnel-type expressway access. The article studies the reasonable distance of the ramp accesses in the tunnel type, puts forward the basic tactics and the methods of the ramp control, and gives the detail studying example for the design of the sign boards and ground markings at the accesses in the aspect of the traffic management facilities able to provide the better reference for the design of the access system of the urban tunnel-type expressways.
EDVAET: A Linear Landscape Evaluation Technique—A Case Study on the Xiaoxinganling Scenery Drive

Abstract:In the process of planning and design for China's first scenerydrive, from a special perspective of tourists' experience along linear scenery drive, this paper develops a new method for tourism landscape evaluation, which is called Equal Distance Visual Assessment by Expert Team (EDVAET), being considered a simple, low cost, but scientific landscape measurement. To develop the EDVAET, a data base was at first built up by field survey along the scenery drive, which included data of topography, visual quality, visual width, and typical landscape photographs, and all these 139 sets of data were got at equal distance sampling spots along the studied itinerary, the Xiaoxinganling Scenery Drive, Heilongjiang Province, Northeast China. The EDVAET itself consists of three evaluation procedures that include assessments of: (1) landscape cover, (2) visual quality, and (3) visual width at each set of those sampling spots. Results of evaluating could be demonstrated in several curves or charts, showing where could be considered best sites for tourists' experiencing landscapes. An application of this model has been made in the planning and designing for the Xiaoxinganling Scenery Drive, and the outcome displayed that the EDVAET is not only a useful tool helping planners to set site selection along tourist itinerary, but also a suitable method in linear tourism landscape evaluation.

Abstract:Road traffic conditions can have an important impact on the economic development of various regions. Under the background of rapid social and economic development, more and more expressway construction projects are initiated in various regions, including both new expressways and expansion of old expressways, and interchange design plays an important role. Scientific and reasonable interchange design can not only realize energy saving and low carbon footprint, but also be people-oriented and promote regional economic development. Therefore, this paper mainly analyzes the highway route and its interchange design strategy for reference.

Abstract:Unity and change are the basic principles of highway landscape design. Based on the investigation of highway revegetation, new concept of revegetation design was given. Bad roadside landscape should be sheltered by green belts, and beautiful roadside landscape should be divulged or showed by locally eliminating the green belts, and maximum length of green belts with single pattern should be limited for preventing drivers from dozing. Based on the theory of dynamic vision, this paper presents the formulas for computing the stake numbers of setting or eliminating the green belts according to the requirements of landscape design, and the formulas for computing the maximum length of green belts with single pattern. The results are helpful to the highway roadside and median green belts design.

Abstract:Design attributes of famous historic and cultural sites were analyzed,and problems in the present planning and design of these relics were proposed on the basis of fully studying characteristics of outdoor sightseeing and relaxation spaces in famous historic and cultural sites such as disordered route,lack of cultural context and overuse of design formalism.Taiqing Scenic Area in the Mount Laoshan was taken for example to explore design techniques of famous historic and cultural sites.It was stressed that history should be respected,cultural context continued;development properly designed,favorable ecological conditions created;tour routes reasonably designed,tourists' feelings valued;aesthetic principles should be followed,and beauty of scenery depends on moods of viewers.This study was to make the future design of famous historic and cultural sites practical.

Abstract:Ecological sensitivity is an essential indicator for measuring the degree of ecological fragility of a region, and traditional highway routing ignores the ecological benefits of regional nature, which causes irreversible impacts on the natural environment. Based on the AHP method, this paper carries out a comprehensive assessment of the ecological sensitivity of the K0+000~K56+438 section of the Guanzhuang Tourist Highway in the Zhangjiajie Wuling Mountain Area from 2000 to 2020, and it utilizes the spatial autocorrelation analysis method to reveal the pattern of its spatial and temporal changes in ecological sensitivity. The following results were obtained. (1) The ecological condition of the study area is gradually improving, and the areas with higher sensitivity are mainly distributed in the northeast and southwest of the study area. (2) The ecological sensitivity of the study area has strong spatial autocorrelation, but the autocorrelation has been reduced in recent years, and the distribution of the ecological sensitivity has been gradually discretized. (3) There are problems of high ecological risk and construction difficulty in the traditional highway route selection scheme of the A line. The optimized route selection scheme, the K line, can effectively avoid highly sensitive areas by adjusting the route and bridge settings. Finally, the article proposes engineering construction suitability and ecological restoration strategies for different road sections regarding vegetation cover, landscape risk, and geological hazards. This study establishes a set of comprehensive technical chains for tourism highway routing in ecologically fragile areas based on the spatial and temporal evolution of sensitivity, which provides new ideas for traditional highway routing and is of great significance for maintaining the balance and stability of ecosystems within the road area.

Abstract:In view of the facts that the previous landscape evaluation studies did not make a clear distinction between urban arterial roads and collector roads, which merely focused on the "universal" evaluation criteria such as road greening and social factors, this study takes South Furong Road and South Shaoshan Road in Changsha as the research object concerning the dynamic variation of urban arterial roads' service quality impacts. Based on the traditional evaluation model, the "unique" influencing factors such as the road engineering quality and transporting efficiency have been introduced. Thus, an assessment method based on AHP-landscape (analytic hierarchy process for landscape evaluation) comprehensive evaluation index has been proposed. The results show the index of comprehensive landscape evaluation for South Furong Road, B1+B2=7.306, M1+M2=81.18%, belonging to level IV, namely a nice and decent landscape, while the index of South Shaoshan South Road, B1+B2=6.715, M1+M2=74.61%, belonging to level III. It concludes that the road landscape quality of South Furong Road is significantly better than that of South Shaoshan Road. Compared with traditional methods, the current results are more comprehensive and reasonable, which makes up the inadequacy of neglecting frequent fluctuation on the urban arterial roads' service quality with urban development, roads operation, and maintenance. This method can provide theoretical support for the optimization of urban arterial road landscape schemes and promotion of the landscape maintenance assisted by investment and policy, which can ultimately realize the virtuous circle and coordination of aesthetics, economic cost, and functional utility under long-term operating conditions.

Abstract:This paper took Huangshan City for example, and computed the changes of the accessibility index of the traffic network in Huangshan City after the Huihang Super-High Way and Hongru Road was completed. It was concluded that:①The optimalization of tourism traffic network was good for the increasing of the tourist flow in Changjiang River delta;②the Hongru Road which was good for the whole development of the Two Mountains and One Lakestrategy,made the tourism economy benefit increased,and Mountain Huangshan was exerting its radiation effect to the neighborhood, but meanwhile the competition between Xidi Village and Hongcun Village would be intensified.

Abstract:The development of scenic roads is implemented as an integrative tourism and transportation policy in China. As an essential component of scenic road systems, rest areas provide spaces for people to interact with roadside landscapes, enhancing the quality of experiences of recreational motorists. However, the understanding of scenic road rest area usage still lacks empirical evidence. This study developed an empirical approach to explore the affordance actualisation mechanism focused on the context of motorist-rest area interaction. The results outlined a behavioural profile about the usage of rest areas on scenic roads and further revealed that: (1) inspired affordances and anticipated affordances, respectively, acted on people's experiences and satisfaction; (2) the perceptual dimension is more proactive in actualising affordances compared with the physical dimension. These findings contribute to the literature on affordance and the evidence-based planning and design for scenic roads.
