Abstract:Fidelity is a fundamental and ubiquitous concept in quantum information theory. Fuchs-van de Graaf's inequalities deal with bounding fidelity from above and below. In this paper, we give a lower bound on the quantum fidelity between two states in terms of their Bures distance.

Abstract:The bounds of concurrence in [F. Mintert, A. Buchleitner, Phys. Rev. Lett. 98 (2007) 140505] and [C. Zhang, et al., Phys. Rev. A 78 (2008) 042308] are proved by using two properties of the fidelity. In two-qubit systems, for a given value of concurrence, the states achieving the maximal upper bound, the minimal lower bound or the maximal difference upper–lower bound are determined analytically.

Abstract:The optimal state-independent lower bounds for the sum of variances or deviations of observables are of significance for the growing number of experiments that reach the uncertainty limited regime. We present a framework for computing the tight uncertainty relations of variance or deviation via determining the uncertainty regions, which are formed by the tuples of two or more of quantum observables in random quantum states induced from the uniform Haar measure on the purified states. From the analytical formulae of these uncertainty regions, we present state-independent uncertainty inequalities satisfied by the sum of variances or deviations of two, three and arbitrary many observables, from which experimentally friend entanglement detection criteria are derived for bipartite and tripartite systems.
A new fidelity of quantum channel evolution and its geometric interpretation

Abstract:Fidelity is crucial for characterizing transformations of quantum states under various quantum channels, which can be served as a fundamental tool in resource theories. Firstly, we define an $\alpha$-$z$-fidelity as a significant quantity in quantum information theory and give the properties of the fidelity with orders $\alpha$ and $z$. Secondly, by analyzing the $\alpha$-$z$-fidelity under the evolution of different types of quantum channels (single orbit, all quantum channels, unitary quantum channels, and mixed unitary quantum channels), we propose a limit formula for the maximum and the minimum of the $\alpha$-$z$-fidelity. In addition, we have extended the $\alpha$-$z$-Rényi relative entropy, providing new insights into its relevance for resource quantification. Finally, we offer a geometric interpretation for measuring the distance between quantum states, contributing to the broader understanding of the operational and transformative power of dynamical quantum resources across various physical settings.

Abstract:Fidelity has always been an important concept in quantum optics. Recently, it was found that fidelity can also play a key role in quantum information and communication theory. Fidelity can be interpreted as the probability that a decoded message possesses the same information content as the message prior to coding and transmission. In this paper, we give a formula of Bures fidelity for displaced squeezed thermal states directly by the displacement and squeezing parameters and briefly discuss how the results can apply to quantum information theory. Multivariate Fidelities

Abstract:The main contribution of our paper is to introduce a number of multivariate quantum fidelities and show that they satisfy several desirable properties that are natural extensions of those of the Uhlmann and Holevo fidelities. We propose three variants that reduce to the average pairwise fidelity for commuting states: average pairwise $z$-fidelities, the multivariate semi-definite programming (SDP) fidelity, and a multivariate fidelity inspired by an existing secrecy measure. The second one is obtained by extending the SDP formulation of the Uhlmann fidelity to more than two states. All three of these variants satisfy the following properties: (i) reduction to multivariate classical fidelities for commuting states, (ii) the data-processing inequality, (iii) invariance under permutations of the states, (iv) its values are in the interval $[0,1]$; they are faithful, that is, their values are equal to one if and only if all the states are equal, and they satisfy orthogonality, that is their values are equal to zero if and only if the states are mutually orthogonal to each other, (v) direct-sum property, (vi) joint concavity, and (vii) uniform continuity bounds under certain conditions. Furthermore, we establish inequalities relating these different variants, indeed clarifying that all these definitions coincide with the average pairwise fidelity for commuting states. Lastly, we introduce another multivariate fidelity called multivariate log-Euclidean fidelity, which is a quantum generalization of the Matusita multivariate fidelity. We also show that it satisfies most of the desirable properties listed above, it is a function of a multivariate log-Euclidean divergence, and has an operational interpretation in terms of quantum hypothesis testing with an arbitrarily varying null hypothesis.

Abstract:Quantum discord is viewed as the measure of quantum correlation which can be nonzero even when entanglement in the system is zero. We study two properties of quantum discord: the upper bound and the continuity. We prove the upper bound of quantum discord in terms of the coherent information for any quantum state and discuss the condition for the reachable upper bound. If two states are close to each other, then we find that quantum discord has little change and provides a bound with respect to this small change.

Abstract:We study the fidelity susceptibility of two SU(2)-invariant reduced density matrices. Due to the commuting property of these matrices, analytical results for reduced fidelity susceptibility are obtained and can be applied to study quantum phase transitions in SU(2)-invariant systems. As an example, we analyze the quantum criticality of the spin-1 bilinear-biquadratic model via the fidelity approach.

Abstract:The tight, in a sense, lower estimates of diamond-norm distance from a given quantum channel to the sets of degradable, antidegradable and entanglement-breaking channels are obtained via the tight continuity bounds for quantum mutual information and for relative entropy of entanglement in finite-dimensional case. As an auxiliary result there are established lower bounds of trace-norm distance from a given bipartite state to the set of all separable states.

Abstract:We give an alternative definition of quantum fidelity for two density operators on qudits in terms of their Hilbert–Schmidt inner product and their purity. It can be regarded as the well-defined operator fidelity for the two operators and satisfies all Jozsa's four axioms up to a normalization factor. This fidelity is not computationally demanding.

Abstract:Quantum fidelity is one of the most important measures of similarity between mixed quantum states. However, the usual formulation is cumbersome and hard to understand when encountering the first time. This work shows in a novel, elegant proof that the expression can be rewritten into a form, which is not only more concise but also makes its symmetry property more obvious. Further, the simpler expression gives rise to a formulation that is subsequently shown to be more computationally efficient than the best previous methods by avoiding any full decomposition. Future work might look for ways in which other theorems could be affected or utilize the reformulation where fidelity is the computational bottleneck.

The maximal and minimal quantum fidelity and relative entropy between two unitary orbits are explicitly derived. The potential applications in quantum computation and information processing are discussed.

Abstract:We introduce a family of fidelities based on the Riemannian geometry of the Bures-Wasserstein manifold we call the generalized fidelity. We show that this family of fidelities generalizes standard quantum fidelities such as Uhlamnn-, Holevo-, and Matsumoto fidelity and demonstrate that it satisfies analogous celebrated properties. The generalized fidelity naturally arises from a generalized Bures distance, the natural distance obtained from the linearization of the Bures-Wasserstein manifold. We prove various invariance and covariance properties of generalized fidelity as the point of linearization moves along geodesic-related paths. We also provide a Block-matrix characterization and prove an Uhlmann-like theorem, as well as provide further extensions to the multivariate setting and quantum Renyi divergences, generalizing Petz-, Sandwich-, Reverse sandwich-, and Geometric Renyi divergences of order $\alpha$.

Abstract:We derive a lower bound on the inconclusive probability of unambiguous discrimination among n linearly independent quantum states by using the constraint of no signaling. It improves the bound presented in the. paper of Zhang, Feng, Sun, and Ying [Phys. Rev. A 64, 062103 (2001)], and when the optimal discrimination can be reached, these two bounds coincide with each other. An alternative method of constructing an appropriate measurement to prove the lower bound is also presented.
Fidelity and Entanglement of Random Bipartite Pure States: Insights and Applications

Abstract:We investigate the fidelity of Haar random bipartite pure states from a fixed reference quantum state and their bipartite entanglement. By plotting the fidelity and entanglement on perpendicular axes, we observe that the resulting plots exhibit non-uniform distributions. The distribution depends on the entanglement of the fixed reference quantum state used to quantify the fidelity of the random pure bipartite states. We find that the average fidelity of typical random pure bipartite qubits within a narrow entanglement range with respect to a randomly chosen fixed bipartite qubit is $\frac{1}{4}$. Extending our study to higher dimensional bipartite qudits, we find that the average fidelity of typical random pure bipartite qudits with respect to a randomly chosen fixed bipartite qudit remains constant within a narrow entanglement range. The values of these constants are $\frac{1}{d^2}$, with d being the dimension of the local Hilbert space of the bipartite qudit system, suggesting a consistent relationship between entanglement and fidelity across different dimensions. The probability distribution functions of fidelity with respect to a product state are analytically studied and used as a reference for the benchmarking of distributed quantum computing devices.

Abstract:From the original definition of fidelity in a pure state,we first give the well defined expansion fidelity between two Gaussian mixed states.It is related to the variances of output and input states in quantum information processing.It could be convenient to quantify the quantum teleportation(quantum clone) experiment since the variances of input(output) state are measurable.Furthermore,we also show that the fidelity of a pure input state is smaller than that of a mixed input state in the same quantum information processing.

Abstract:Quantum Fisher information (QFI) is a key concept in quantum state estimation, and Berry curvature (BC) is another basic concept to describe geometric properties of quantum states. In this paper, we consider pure states undergoing unitary parametrization processes and show that the BC serves as a lower bound for the product of QFIs corresponding to two different parameters through the Heisenberg uncertainty relation. This relation between QFI and BC implies that the estimation precisions of two different parameters are mutually restrictive due to finite BC, and the notion of QFI squeezing is introduced. A scenario of general su(2) parametrization is considered in detail to verify the relation between the QFI and BC.

Abstract:The fidelity (Shannon mutual information between measurements and physical quantities) is proposed as a quantitative measure of the quality of physical measurements. The fidelity does not depend on the true value of unknown physical quantities (as does the Fisher information) and it allows for the role of prior information in the measurement process. The fidelity is general enough to allow a natural comparison of the quality of classical and quantum measurements. As an example, the fidelity is used to compare the quality of measurements made by a classical and a quantum Mach-Zehnder interferometer.

Abstract:In the field of quantum information theory, the concept of quantum fidelity is employed to quantify the similarity between two quantum states. It has been observed that the fidelity between two states describing a bipartite quantum system $A \otimes B$ is always less than or equal to the quantum fidelity between the states in subsystem $A$ alone. While this fidelity inequality is well understood, determining the conditions under which the inequality becomes an equality remains an open question. In this paper, we present the necessary and sufficient conditions for the equality of fidelities between a bipartite system $A \otimes B$ and subsystem $A$, considering pure quantum states. Moreover, we provide explicit representations of quantum states that satisfy the fidelity equality, based on our derived results.
