Abstract:With a high proportion of distributed photovoltaic generation connected to a distribution network, reverse power flow might occur, and node voltages might be out of limit. Therefore, determining a distribution system's maximum acceptance capacity for distributed photovoltaics is crucial. Many existing studies widely agree that distributed photovoltaics possess the ability to increase voltage when connected at the end of the supply line within the distribution system. However, the impact of different types of loads on the carrying capability of distributed photovoltaic integration was not considered during these computations, which affects their accuracy in determining the maximum penetration capacity of a distributed photovoltaic network. Therefore, this paper investigates the acceptance capability of distribution networks with different types of loads on distributed photovoltaics. First, the static voltage characteristics and power factor variation characteristics of different load components were analyzed, so then, the setting method of active and reactive power were clarified based on the changes in the load power in a day. Next, the IEEE 33 node system is taken as an example. From the perspective of whether the voltage of the distribution system nodes is in excess of the system limit, the acceptance capability of different types of loads to carry distributed photovoltaics was analyzed. The simulation results show that the heavy industrial load has the greatest ability to accept distributed photovoltaics, followed by the light industrial load, and that residential load has the smallest capacity. From the simulation results, we conclude that the greater the high-power time period of the load overlaps with the high-power time period of distributed photovoltaics is, the stronger its ability to accept distributed photovoltaics.
