Abstract:The photocatalytic inactivation of pathogenic bacteria in water was investigated systematically with AgBr/TiO2 under visible light (λ>420nm) irradiation. The catalyst was found to be highly effective for the killing of Escherichia coli, a Gram-negative bacterium, and Staphylococcus aureus, a Gram-positive bacterium. The decomposition of the cell wall and cell membrane was directly observed by TEM and further confirmed by K+ leakage from the inactivated bacteria. A possible cell damage mechanism by visible light-driven AgBr/TiO2 is proposed. In addition, the effects of pH, inorganic ions on bacterial photocatalytic inactivation were investigated. The electrostatic force interaction of the bacteria–catalyst is crucial for the efficiency of disinfection. Moreover, AgBr/TiO2 supported on porous nickel showed much higher bactericidal activity than fixed P25 TiO2 under visible or near UV light irradiation.

Abstract:The photocatalytic disinfection of pathogenic bacteria in water was investigated systematically with AgI/TiO2 under visible light (lambda > 420 nm) irradiation. The catalyst was found to be highly effective in killing Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. The adsorbed *OH and hVB+ on the surface of the catalyst were proposed to be the main active oxygen species by study of electron spin resonance and the effect of radical scavengers. The process of destruction of the cell wall and the cell membrane was verified by TEM, potassium ion leakage, lipid peroxidation, and FT-IR measurements. Some products from photocatalytic degradation of bacteria such as aldehydes, ketones, and carboxylic acids were identified by FT-IR spectroscopy. These results suggested that the photocatalytic degradation of the cell structure caused the cell death. The electrostatic force interaction of the bacteria-catalyst significantly affected the efficiency of disinfection on the basis of the E. coli inactivation under different conditions.

Abstract:The daily life of people in the intelligent age is inseparable from electronic device,and a number of bacteria on touch screens are increasingly threatening the health of users.Herein,a photocatalytic TiO 2 /Ag thin film was synthesized on a glass by atomic layer deposition and subsequent in situ reduction.Ultraviolet-visible（UV-Vis）spectra showed that this film can harvest the simulated solar light more efficiently than that of pristine TiO 2 .The antibacterial tests in vitro showed that the antibacterial efficiency of the TiO 2 /Ag film against S.aureus and E.coli was 98.2% and 98.6%,under visible light irradiation for 5 min.The underlying mechanism was that the in-situ reduction of Ag on the surface of TiO 2 reduced the bandgap of TiO 2 from 3.44 to 2.61 eV due to the formation of Schottky heterojunction at the interface between TiO 2 and Ag.Thus,TiO 2 /Ag can generate more reactive oxygen species for bacterial inactivation on the surface of electronic screens.More importantly,the TiO 2 /Ag film had great biocompatibility with/without light irradiation.The platform not only provides a more convenient choice for the traditional antibacterial mode but also has limitless possibilities for application in the field of billions of touch screens.
Nanocrystal Cu 2 O-loaded TiO 2 nanotube array films as high-performance visible-light bactericidal photocatalyst

Abstract:In this work, we report the use of a non-toxic nanocrystal Cu2O-loaded TiO2 nanotube array (Cu2O/TNTs) film as high-performance visible-light bactericidal photocatalyst. The samples were characterized by field-emission scanning electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and ultraviolet–visible diffusion reflection spectroscopy. This Cu2O/TNTs film photocatalyst is capable of complete inactivation of Escherichia coli in 5 × 107 colony-forming units/mL within a record short disinfection time of 20 min under visible-light irradiation. The average bactericidal percentage of the Cu2O/TNTs for E. coli under visible-light irradiation are 20 times and 6.6 times higher than those of TNTs under the same conditions and Cu2O/TNTs without light, respectively. This superior bactericidal performance is mainly attributed to the high ability to produce OH radicals by both photogenerated electron and hole of the prepared photocatalyst under visible light. The Cu2O/TNTs film photocatalyst makes it applicable to broad fields including drinking water disinfection.

Abstract:The use of heterogeneous photocatalysis in biologically contaminated water purification processes still requires the development of materials active in visible light, preferably in the form of thin films. Herein, we report nanotube structures made of TiO2/Ag2O/Au0, TiO2/Ag2O/PtOx, TiO2/Cu2O/Au0, and TiO2/Cu2O/PtOx obtained via one-step anodic oxidation of the titanium-based alloys (Ti94Ag5Au1, Ti94Cu5Pt1, Ti94Cu5Au1, and Ti94Ag5Pt1) possessing high visible light activity in the inactivation process of methicillin-susceptible S. aureus and other pathogenic bacteria—E. coli, Clostridium sp., and K. oxytoca. In the samples made from Ti-based alloys, metal/metal oxide nanoparticles were formed, which were located on the surface and inside the walls of the NTs. The obtained results showed that oxygen species produced at the surface of irradiated photocatalysts and the presence of copper and silver species in the photoactive layers both contributed to the inactivation of bacteria. Photocatalytic inactivation of E. coli, S. aureus, and Clostridium sp. was confirmed via TEM imaging of bacterium cell destruction and the detection of CO2 as a result of bacteria cell mineralization for the most active sample. These results suggest that the membrane ruptures as a result of the attack of active oxygen species, and then, both the membrane and the contents are mineralized to CO2.

Abstract:Enhancing interfacial charge transfer is a promising approach to improve the efficiency of photocatalysts. This research effectively exploited an Ag-modified Z-scheme TiO 2 /Bi 2 MoO 6 heterojunction for photocatalytic degradation and disinfection under visible light. The catalyst was fabricated using simple hydrothermal and photo-deposition methods, and the characterization outcomes revealed that a built-in electric field (BIEF) was generated in the TiO 2 /Bi 2 MoO 6 heterojunctions, which significantly promotes the separation of photogenerated carriers and increases light absorption efficiency. Besides, the theoretical calculation demonstrated that electron migration between TiO 2 and Ag resulted in a strong coupling on the surface, which serves as the foundation for driving photoelectric charge transfer. Furthermore, the TiO 2 /Bi 2 MoO 6 /Ag-45 displayed 459% and 512% higher degradation efficiency of tetracycline hydrochloride (TC-HCl) and ciprofloxacin (CIP) after 100 min compared to pristine TiO 2 . Moreover, the complexes wholly inactivated gram-negative Escherichia coli ( E. coli ) and significantly inhibited the growth of gram-positive Staphylococcus albus ( S. albus ) after 200 min. Additionally, we have deduced the potential degradation pathways of TC-HCl and CIP and photocatalytic mechanisms. The research results provide an idea to solve the problems of limited light absorption range and rapid carrier combination speed of traditional photocatalytic materials, which is expected to be applied in the field of actual wastewater treatment.

Antimicrobial Property and Photocatalytic Antibacterial Mechanism of the TiO2-doped SiO2 Hybrid Materials under Ultraviolet-Light Irradiation and Visible-Light Irradiation

Abstract:In this study, an antibacterial hybrid material of TiO2-doped SiO2 (TiO2@SiO2) was prepared by hydrolysis, where the SiO2 carrier was synthesized by a sol–gel method. The as-prepared antibacterial materials were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometry, X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and Brunauer–Emmett–Teller measurements and particle size analysis. The antibacterial effect of the prepared hybrid materials on Escherichia coli (E. coli) was investigated by the plate coating method. The presence of the Ti–O–Si bond between anatase-TiO2 and SiO2 was confirmed by the above characterization methods, which was beneficial to enhance the photocatalytic inactivation effect of E. coli under ultraviolet-light (UVA) irradiation and visible-light irradiation. With the increase in the TiO2 content from 1.5% to 4.4%, antibacterial activities were clearly enhanced under different types of light irradiation. For the optimum sample of 4.4%-TiO2@SiO2, antibacterial rates of 99.3% and 90.5% under UVA irradiation and visible-light irradiation were obtained, respectively. The antibacterial mechanism was demonstrated by fluorescence detection of the reactive oxygen species (ROS) and SEM images of the changes in the bacterial morphology. Results revealed that the hybrid materials can generate ROS under not only UVA irradiation but also visible-light irradiation. A majority of the ROS migrated into the bacterial cells and caused the oxidative damage of cells. This is a crucial study for the photocatalytic inactivation mechanism of the bacteria under both UVA and visible-light irradiation.
Synergistic Ag/TiO2-N Photocatalytic System and Its Enhanced Antibacterial Activity Towards Acinetobacter Baumannii

Abstract:The hybrid Ag/TiO2-N photocatalyst was prepared via a supercritical solvothermal process in ethanol fluid. The simultaneous achievement of reduction of Ag+ ions and N-doping in silver-ammonia complex solution led to the uniform distribution of Ag nanoparticles stably combined with the surface of TiO2-N substrate. As a result, the visible-light photocatalytic inactivation of Acinetobacter batunannff was facilitated via the enhanced visible light harvesting and the high separation efficiency of photo-induced charge carriers. By means of the main active species of center dot O-2(-) radical, the synergistic effect of Ag nanoparticles and TiO2-N could induce the structure change of bacteria with the leakage of K+ ions as well as the mineralization of cell membrane with the elimination of self-repair function, leading to the final cell death. In comparison, the bactericidal activity of Ag nanoparticles and TiO2-N under UV light irradiation was due to the intrinsic efficiency and the high light harvesting, respectively. The photothermal effect of Ag nanoparticles in the near-IR light region could be possibly remained by TiO2-N substrate to achieve the antibacterial activity. Furthermore, Ag/TiO2-N photocatalyst played great bactericidal effect for kinds of bacteria, implying the applicable future to the medical disinfection.
Ag/AgBr/TiO2Visible Light Photocatalyst for Destruction of Azodyes and Bacteria

Abstract:Ag/AgBr/TiO2 was prepared by the deposition-precipitation method and was found to be a novel visible light driven photocatalyst. The catalyst showed high efficiency for the degradation of nonbiodegradable azodyes and the killing of Escherichia coli under visible light irradiation (lambda > 420 nm). The catalyst activity was maintained effectively after successive cyclic experiments under UV or visible light irradiation without the destruction of AgBr. On the basis of the characterization of X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and Auger electron spectroscopy, the surface Ag species mainly exist as Ago in the structure of all samples before and after reaction, and Ag-0 species scavenged h(VB)(+) and then trapped e(CB)(-) in the process of photocatalytic reaction, inhibiting the decomposition of AgBr. The studies of ESR and H2O2 formation revealed that (OH)-O-center dot and O-2(center dot-) were formed in visible light irradiated aqueous Ag/AgBr/TiO2 suspension, while there was no reactive oxygen species in the visible light irradiated Ag-0/TiO2 system. The results indicate that AgBr is the main photoactive species for the destruction of azodyes and bacteria under visible light. In addition, the bactericidal efficiency and killing mechanism of Ag/AgBr/TiO2 under visible light irradiation are illustrated and discussed.

Abstract:Ag/SnO2-x/Bi4O5I2 ternary composites were prepared to further improve the photocatalytic properties by introducing Ag nanoparticles into SnO2-x/Bi4O5I2 binary composites. X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) proved that the ternary composites were successfully synthesized. Photocurrent and electrochemical impedance tests (EIS) confirmed that the photogenerated carrier separation efficiency of Ag/SnO2-x/Bi4O5I2 was much higher than SnO2-x and Bi4O5I2. Ag/SnO2-x/Bi4O5I2 showed high efficiency in degradation and antibacterial. The optimum sample of 3% Ag/SnO2-x/Bi4O5I2 can degrade 80 % tetracycline (TC) in 120 min, inactivate Escherichia coli (E. coil) in 15 min and Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) in 20 min under the LED light. The intermediates of the degradation of TC were identified by mass spectrometry (MS). Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and confocal laser scanning microscope (CLSM) images intuitively showed the death process of E. coil caused by the photocatalytic reaction. The results of the capture experiment identified the active substance, and the possible photocatalytic degradation pathway was proposed. Ag/SnO2-x/Bi4O5I2 followed the Z-scheme charge transfer mechanism.

Abstract:Pathogenic bacteria can spread rapidly from contaminated surfaces to human skin once humans touch such surfaces, resulting in contact infection and subsequent bacterial infectious diseases. In addition to the bacterial drug resistance induced by overuse of antibiotics, the commonly used antibiotic bacteria-killing strategy is unsuitable for surface sterilization of facilities. Herein, a heterojunction CuO/ZnO nanofilm was constructed on glass plates by calcination and atomic layer deposition. This film exhibited excellent photocatalytic antibacterial activity under visible light. The heterostructure between CuO and ZnO at the interface accelerated the separation of photogenerated electrons and holes, resulting in increased yield of reactive oxygen species, which effectively kill bacteria. After 5 min of simulated sunlight irradiation, the antibacterial efficiencies of CuO/ZnO against Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) and Escherichia coli (E. coli) were 99.68 +/- 0.31 % and 96.49 +/- 0.78 %, respectively. The photocatalytic antimicrobial nanofilm synthesized in this study can potentially be used for rapid and safe disinfection of contact surfaces in public facilities.
Low‐cost 0D and 2D carbon material co‐decorated titanium dioxide ternary heterojunction for rapid and efficient bacteria killing under visible light

Abstract:Abstract Recently, the issue of bacterial resistance has gotten worse because of the overuse of antibiotics. The newborn superbacteria, such as vancomycin‐resistant bacteria, were hard to kill, inspiring researchers to find new ways to kill the bacteria efficiently. TiO 2 was used as an efficient photocatalyst for water splitting and pollutant degradation. However, the weak efficiency limited the application to solve the drug‐resistance problem. Consequently, the incorporation of low‐cost 0D carbon quantum dots (CQDs) and 2D graphene oxide (GO) was pursued to amplify the visible light absorption capabilities of TiO 2 and thereby elevate its photocatalytic activity. After forming the heterogeneous interface of CQDs and TiO 2 , CQDs converted part of visible light into wavelength less than 400 nm using the up‐conversion property. The modification of CQDs enabled electrons to be easily transferred from the conduction band of CQDs to the conduction band of TiO 2 . Meanwhile, GO can act as an electron acceptor, reduce the recombination efficiency of holes and electrons, and transfer the photogenerated electrons in the redox reaction in the heterogeneous interface. Because of the excellent absorption of GO, TiO 2 /CQDs/GO reached 57.8°C after 20 min irradiation under 1.5 times sunlight, which provided a prerequisite for photodynamic antibacterial therapy/photothermal antibacterial therapy synergistic antibacterial potential. TiO 2 /CQDs/GO possessed an antibacterial efficiency as high as 99.3% toward Staphylococcus aureus which has a bright future in disinfection in vivo and medical devices as well as water sterilization.
Fabrication of Visible-Light-driven Silver Iodide Modified Iodine-Deficient Bismuth Oxyiodides Z-scheme Heterojunctions with Enhanced Photocatalytic Activity for Escherichia Coli Inactivation and Tetracycline Degradation

Abstract:At present, various organic pollutants and pathogenic microorganisms presented in wastewater have severely threatened aquatic ecosystem and human health. Meanwhile, semiconductor photocatalysis technology for water purification has attracted increasingly significant attention. Herein, we successfully constructed a series of novel visible-light-driven (VLD) Bi4O5I2/Agl hybrid photocatalysts with different Agl amounts. Compared with pristine AgI and Bi4O5I2, Bi4O5I2/Agl with the optimal Agl contents exhibited remarkably enhanced photocatalytic performance in probe experiment for Escherichia coli (E. coli) disinfection and tetracycline (TC) degradation. The efficiency for TC degradation and E. coli inactivation reached 82% and 100% in 30 min, respectively. The enhanced electron-hole separation efficiency was responsible for improved photocatalytic activity. In addition, the destruction process of the chemical structure of TC molecules was further investigated by three-dimensional excitation-emission matrix fluorescence spectra (3D EEM5). The activity and crystal phase of the catalysts did not change significantly after four cycles, demonstrating their excellent recyclability and stability of catalysts. The Ag+ ion leaking experiments, radical trapping experiments and ESR tests demonstrated that (OH)-O-center dot, O-center dot(2)- and h(+) were the main active species in photocatalytic disinfection processes. Furthermore, the photocatalytic mechanism of Bi4O5I2/Agl nanomaterials was discussed in detail in conjunction with the energy band structure, and a reasonable Z-scheme interfacial charge transfer mechanism was proposed. Three-phase interface photocatalysis for the enhanced degradation and antibacterial property

Abstract:Semiconductor photocatalysis, as a means of utilizing stranded renewable solar resources, is now emerging as a viable and promising approach for increasingly severe water pollution. In this work, a high-performance photocatalytic system has been fabricated by immobilizing spiky TiO2/Au nanohybrids on one side of hydrophobic nanoPE substrate (PE-TiO2/Au) that forces the enabling of air-liquid-solid triphase photocatalytic interface. Such a triphase system allows efficient oxygen access to the photocatalyst surface, which is feasible for charge separation and reactive oxygen species (ROS) production. Two modes of triphase systems with different gas flow paths were constructed, in which PE-TiO2/Au was floating on the aqueous solution surface (exposed mode) or immersing in aqueous phase (immersed mode). It is worth mentioning that the exposed PE-TiO2/Au enables a more efficient oxygen supply, thus leading to a 5.5-fold and 1.8-fold higher reaction kinetics as compared to normal liquid-solid diphase system and immersed PE-TiO2/Au. Meanwhile, PE-TiO2/Au also exerts bactericidal effect under visible light irradiation, which effectively inactivates S.aureus (>99.9%) in a lean period of 30 min. The qualities of high lethality rate and short reaction time are endowed to PE-TiO2/Au due to the co-effect of unique triphase interface microenvironment and elaborate heterojunction of spiky TiO2/Au nanohybrids. In this paper, we have revealed for the first time that the antibacterial efficiency can be effectively improved by increasing the oxygen supply with the construction of three-phase interface, which represents a promising option in designing highly efficient photocatalytic systems for sewage purification applications.
Interfacial Engineering of Ni-phytate and Ti3C2Tx MXene-sensitized TiO2 Toward Enhanced Sterilization Efficacy under 808 Nm NIR Light Irradiation

Abstract:Constructing a near-infrared (NIR) light-responsive antibacterial material keeps a preferential goal yet a huge challenge. Herein, we controllably manufactured a sandwich architecture comprised of plasmon (Ti3C2Tx MXene) and photosensitizer (PANi (Ni-phytate)) locating on wide-bandgap semiconductor (TiO2), named as PANi/TiO2/Ti3C2Tx (PTM), which can achieve bidirectional transfer of hot-electrons under 808 nm NIR light irradiation, significantly augmenting the carrier concentration of TiO2 surface. The increase of hot-electron concentration not only strengthens the chemical activity through the O2 uptake simulations by the theoretical investigations, but also elevates the photothermal conversion efficiency up to 43.3 %, which is far superior to other reported photocatalytic-photothermal system. The 808 nm NIR-activated germicide can realize 99.9 % sterilization efficacy against the Escherichia coli (E. coli) with the collaboration of photocatalytic and photothermal treatment. This work offered a brand-new idea to construct a NIR-driven antimicrobial material achieving the synergistic interaction of photocatalytic therapy and photothermal therapy.

Abstract:The Agl/AgBr/BiOBr0.75I0.25 nanocomposites were synthesized by a solvothermal process, followed by an in-situ ion exchange reaction. The disinfection activities of the as-synthesized photocatalyst to model cell type, Gram-negative Escherichia coli (E. coli), were investigated under visible light irradiation condition lambda >= 400 nm). Results showed that 80 mg/L AgI/AgBr/BiOBr0.75I0.25 could completely inactivate 3 x 10(7) CFU mL(-1) E. coli cells within 30 mm under visible light irradiation. Moreover, the bactericidal mechanisms involved in the photocatalytic disinfection process were systematically investigated. Ag+ ions released from the nanocomposites negligibly contributed to the bactericidal activity, while active species including h(+), e(-) and O-center dot(2)- played important roles in the disinfection system. Direct contact of bacterial cells and nanoparticles was found to be the prerequisite for both the generation of O-center dot(2)- and the disinfection processes. The disruption of cell membrane and emission of cytoplasm directly inactivated E. coil cells. In addition, AgI/AgBr/BiOBr0.75I0.25 exhibited strong antibacterial activity toward E. coli even in four consecutive reused cycles. (C) 2015 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
Facile Synthesis of Cu-Doped TiO2 Particles for Accelerated Visible Light-Driven Antiviral and Antibacterial Inactivation

Abstract:In this work, we present a facile and scalable hydrolysis-based route for the synthesis of copper-doped TiO2 particles for highly effective light-activated antiviral and antibacterial applications. The performance of the synthesized Cu-doped TiO2 particles is then evaluated using solution-phase antimicrobial photodynamic inactivation assays. We demonstrate that the Cu-doped TiO2 particles can successfully inactivate a wide range of pathogens with exposure to light for 90 min, including bacteria ranging from methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (99.9999%, ∼6 log units) to Klebsiella pneumoniae (99.93%, ∼3.3 log units), and viruses including feline calicivirus (99.94%, ∼3.4 log units) and HCoV-229E (99.996%, ∼4.6 log units), with the particles demonstrating excellent robustness toward photobleaching. Furthermore, a spray-coated polymer film, loaded with the synthesized Cu-doped TiO2 particles achieves inactivation of methicillin-resistant S. aureus up to 99.998% (∼4.8 log units). The presented results provide a clear advance forward in the use of metal-doped TiO2 for aPDI applications, including the scalable synthesis (kg/day) of well-characterized and robust particles, their facile incorporation into a nontoxic, photostable coating that may be easily and cheaply applied to a multitude of surfaces, and a broad efficacy against drug-resistant Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, as well as against enveloped and nonenveloped viruses.
Visible-light-induced bactericidal properties of a novel thiophene-based linear conjugated polymer/TiO2 heterojunction

Abstract:The low utilization of visible light and the fast recombination of photogenerated electron-hole pairs are the two intrinsic defects that have hindered the antibacterial applications of TiO2. The addition of organic photocatalytic agents to form heterojunctions with TiO2 powder can effectively address these problems. A novel linear conjugated polymer poly[(thiophene-ethylene-thiophene)-thiophene-3-carboxylic acid decyl ester] (PTCD) was successfully synthesized via Stille coupling polymerization. PTCD and TiO2 can form a heterojunction photocatalyst (PTCD/TiO2), and this product was characterized using NMR and XRD. The UV-vis spectra showed that the absorption edge of the PTCD/TiO2 heterojunction extends to approximately 700 nm, which indicates that the visible-light utilization is greatly improved. Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) was selected as the target organism to test the photocatalytic antimicrobial activity of the material. Photogenerated electrons can undergo directional transmission of the PTCD polymer to TiO2 on the PTCD/TiO2 heterojunction to realize excellent antibacterial properties. With an optimized PTCD loading ratio of 30%, PTCD/TiO2 showed an antibacterial rate that was 14.5 times greater than that of pure TiO2 in 4 h under visible-light irradiation.
Efficient and sustainable photocatalytic inactivation of E. coli by an innovative immobilized Ag/TiO2 photocatalyst with peroxymonosulfate (PMS) under visible light

Abstract:A novel catalytic system for effective photocatalytic inactivation of Escherichia coli (E. coli) was constructed by anchoring Ag nanoparticles (AgNPs) on silane coupling agent (SCA) pretreated TiO2 nano-tube arrays (Ag/SCA/TiO2NTAs). Morphology and structural analyses revealed that SCA could disperse AgNPs evenly on TiO2NTAs, thus inducing a superior surface plasmon resonance (SPR) effect. Ag/SCA/TiO2NTAs catalyst exhibited excellent inactivation performance when in the presence of peroxymonosulfate (PMS) and visible light (VL), with 6-log E. coli was completely inactivated within 60 min, which was 5.3, 12.5 and 13.2 times higher than that of Ag/SCA/TiO2NTAs/VL, PMS/VL and Ag/SCA/TiO2NTAs/PMS/dark systems, respectively. Additionally, the photocatalyst exhibited a highly reusable property, with the inactivation performance almost unchanged after ten cycles of uses with minimal Ag leaching. The inactivation mechanism analysis demonstrated that both radical (SO4•-, OH) and non-radical (h+, 1O2) pathways involved in E. coli inactivation, and SCA played a pivotal role in the production of reactive species. Chloride ions (Cl-) greatly enhanced the inactivation efficiency, while bicarbonate (HCO3-) and phosphate (H2PO4-) showed an inhibitory effect. Humic acid (HA) displayed a dual effect on inactivation performance, where the low concentration of HA facilitated the bacteria inactivation, while the higher dose suppressed bacteria inactivation. Moreover, the system exhibited excellent inactivation performance in tap water. This work first used SCA as the binder to fix AgNPs on TiO2NTAs for VL photocatalytic inactivation of bacteria with the assistance of PMS, which was expected to provide some insights into the practical treatment of drinking water.
