Abstract:In optical data storage, the conventional scalar diffraction theory gives a reasonable approximation to readout performances including cross talk, jitter, carrier-noise-ratio etc. These parameters may be used to evaluate the properties of optical disk and thus to perform the structure design and failure analysis of the optical disk [1-3]. With the development of high-density optical disk, the mark sizes become smaller and smaller with the decrease in the wavelength of incident laser beam. A problem in the applications of the scalar diffraction analysis is that the small marks and their fine structures cannot be recognized.
