Abstract:called region orthogonal signal correction (ROSC) has been enhanced. Originally, ROSC only used moving window partial least squares regression (MWPLSR) to look for a spectral region due to water and ROSC simply removed this region from spectra. Our new approach is to employ MWPLSR to find the spectral region due to variation of water and also the spectral regions relevant to analytes from the following two points of view. One is to select the specific regions for PLS modelling after the optimisation and the other is to use the variation in those specific regions to calculate ROSC-pretreated spectra with the intention of reducing the interferences which tend to dominate such signals. The addition of the searching combination moving window partial least squares (SCMWPLS) algorithm was very helpful in optimising the specific regions located by MWPLSR. Then the ROSC algorithm can selectively remove the specific region of each component. This is considered as the region for calculating the orthogonal components that should be removed from near infrared (NIR) spectral data for modelling of the analyte.
