It is difficult to predict sweet spots by using the traditional seismic inversion technologies because of complex lithology, low porosity and lateral heterogeneity. This paper presents a new rock physics template (RPT) to quantitatively predict the porosity of tight oil reservoirs based on the sensitivity analysis for porosity by using the bimaterial matrix and double inclusion concentrations (BM-DIC) model. The new RPT is a crossplot of P-wave impedance versus Vp/Vs with three end members (sandstone, dolostone and mudstone) and it is used to predict the porosity, lithology and the thickness of upper sweet spots in the Lucaogou Formation in J17 work area of Jimusar Sag. The inversion results are in accordance with oil testing results and indicate that the sweet spots of dolomitic reservoirs have great resource potential.
