Abstract:Exotic lattice solitary wave solutions of a modified version of the discrete modified KdV equation and its d-dimensional generalization are found. The solutions describe both bright and dark lattice solitary waves depending on the values of parameters. It is shown that there exists a critical value of the parameters which divides the parameter space into bright and dark solitary wave ranges.

Abstract:In this paper, the exp-function method is improved to construct exact solutions of non-linear lattice equations by modifying its exponential function ansätz. The improved method has two advantages. One is that it can solve non-linear lattice equations with variable coefficients, and the other is that it is not necessary to balance the highest order derivative with the highest order nonlinear term in the procedure of determining the exponential function ansätz. To show the advantages of this improved method, a variable-coefficient mKdV lattice equation is considered. As a result, new exact solutions, which include kink-type solutions and bell-kink-type solutions, are obtained.

Abstract:Under investigation in this paper is a discrete modified exponential Toda lattice equation which may describe vibration of particles in a lattice. Firstly, we construct an integrable lattice hierarchy associated with this equation from a \(2\times 2\) matrix spectral problem, and some related integrable properties such as Hamiltonian structures, Liouville integrability and conservation laws of this hierarchy are discussed. Secondly, we present the discrete generalized \((m, N-m)\)-fold Darboux transformation of the modified exponential Toda lattice equation on the basis of its known Lax representation. As applications of the obtained discrete generalized Darboux transformation, multi-kink-soliton solutions on an exponential surface background and an inclined plane background are obtained when \(m=2N\), the discrete rational and semi-rational solutions are derived when \(m=1\), and the mixed solutions of usual soliton solutions and rational solutions are given when \(m=2\). Based on the asymptotic and graphic analysis, soliton elastic interaction phenomena and limit states related to rational solutions are discussed and analyzed. Furthermore, some mathematical features of rational solutions are summarized. Finally, numerical simulations are used to explore the dynamical behaviors of such soliton solutions which show the soliton evolutions are robust against a small noise. These results and properties given in this paper might be useful for understanding nonlinear lattice dynamics.

Abstract:A mathematical technique based on an auxiliary differential equation and the symbolic computation system Maple is employed to investigate a prototypical and nonlinear K(n,n) equation with variable coefficients. The exact solutions to the equation are constructed analytically under various circumstances. It is shown that the variable coefficients and the exponent appearing in the equation determine the quantitative change in the physical structures of the solutions.

Abstract:In this article, we focus on a specific version of the NDDEs which is the relativistic Toda lattice equation. We employ the generalized exponential rational function method on a nonlinear model of surface wave propagation to recognize their diverse singular soliton and multi-soliton wave structures. What is remarkable in this article is the use of graphic diagrams, which have diversified the solutions for solving such equations, leading to a greater understanding of the movements of particles and the strengthening of nonlinear lattice dynamics. The efficiency and strength of the employed method are illustrated, signifying its applicability to a wide spectrum of NDDEs in physical phenomena.

Abstract:In order to seek for new solitary wave solutions, a simple equation is obtained by taking a transformation on (2+1)-dimensional dispersive long wave equations. Then, some methods are used to solve it and, by using the transformation again, some new solitary wave solutions for (2+l)-dimensional dispersive long wave equations are obtained. In addition, some new N-soliton solutions are found too by introducing some undetermined coefficients. The method can be used to simplify tanh-function method, hyperbolic function method, homogeneous balance method and extended tanh-function method and to solve other nonlinear partial differential equations.

Abstract:In this paper, the exp-function method is generalized to construct N-soliton solutions of nonlinear differential-difference equations. With the aid of symbolic computation, we choose the Toda lattice to illustrate the validity and advantages of the generalized work. As a result, 1-soliton, 2-soliton, and 3-soliton solutions are obtained, from which the uniform formula of N-soliton solutions is derived. It is shown that the exp-function method may provide us with a straightforward and effective mathematical tool for generating N-soliton solutions of nonlinear differential-difference equations in mathematical physics.

Abstract:Under investigation is the discrete modified Korteweg-de Vries (mKdV) equation, which is an integrable discretization of the continuous mKdV equation that can describe some physical phenomena such as dynamics of anharmonic lattices, solitary waves in dusty plasmas, and fluctuations in nonlinear optics. Through constructing the discrete generalized m , N − m -fold Darboux transformation for this discrete system, the various discrete soliton solutions such as the usual soliton, rational soliton, and their mixed soliton solutions are derived. The elastic interaction phenomena and physical characteristics are discussed and illustrated graphically. The limit states of diverse soliton solutions are analyzed via the asymptotic analysis technique. Numerical simulations are used to display the dynamical behaviors of some soliton solutions. The results given in this paper might be helpful for better understanding the physical phenomena in plasma and nonlinear optics.

Abstract:The modified Korteweg-de Vries （mKdV） typed equations can be used to describe certain nonlinearphenomena in fluids, plasmas, and optics. In this paper, the discretized mKdV lattice equation is investigated. With theaid of symbolic computation, the discrete matrix spectral problem for that system is constructed. Darboux transformationfor that system is established based on the resulting spectral problem. Explicit solutions are derived via the Darbouxtransformation. Structures of those solutions are shown graphically, which might be helpful to understand some physicalprocesses in fluids, plasmas, and optics.

Abstract:Solutions of all Adler–Bobenko–Suris equations except , and of several lattice Boussinesq-type equations are reconsidered by using the Cauchy matrix approach. By introducing a "fake" nonautonomous plane-wave factor, we derive soliton solutions, oscillatory solutions, and semi-oscillatory solutions of the target lattice equations. Unlike the conventional soliton solutions, the oscillatory solutions take constant values on all elementary quadrilaterals on , which demonstrates a periodic structure.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish new solitary wave solutions to the modified Kawahara equation by the sine–cosine method. Moreover, the periodic solutions and bell-shaped solitons solutions to the generalized fifth-order KdV equation are obtained. The tanh method is used to handle the double sine-Gordon equation and the double sinh-Gordon equation. Families of exact travelling wave solutions are formally derived. The rational triangle sine–cosine method is introduced and to be constructed complex solutions to the modified Degasperis–Procesi (DP) equation and the modified Camassa–Holm (CH) equation.

Abstract:A general semi-analytic method is suggested to obtain the solitary wave solutions for some kinds of nonlinear equations, by the combination of the function-series method and the simulated annealing technique. The validity and reliability of the method are tested by applying it to the study of a generalized φ4 equation. With the proper boundary and initial conditions, pulse-, kink- and breather-like solitons and their combinations are obtained.

Abstract:In this article, we utilize the generalized exponential rational function method and obtain exact solitary wave solutions in various forms of the strain wave equation. Abundant exact solitary solutions including multiple-solitons, bell-shaped solitons, traveling waves, trigonometric and rational solutions have been constructed. The dynamical structures of some solutions are illustrated graphically through 3D, 2D-shapes, and respective density plots, which gives an easy understanding of the physical explanation of the strain wave equation. Dispersive effects by the microstructures of materials combined with nonlinearities lead to exact solitary waves. Our obtained results are entirely different from earlier established findings and never published elsewhere. These results demonstrate that the generalized exponential rational function method is a straightforward, effective, and more capable mathematical tool for obtaining the exact solitary solutions to the nonlinear partial differential equations which arise in the field of mathematical physics, fluid mechanics, plasma physics, mathematical biology, fiber optics, chemistry, materials physics, engineering disciplines and many other natural sciences.
